Huh. Wasn't expecting it to get simulcasted. Not sure I'll be able to watch it though.
Mermaid's manga oneshot has been scanned

Yeesh, you weren't kidding. I recommend notifying us of manga developments and just asking people to PM you for images, since the manga is turning out to be graphic enough to qualify as "explicit sexual content", and this is just the oneshot.note
That aside, the art seems really familiar to me (I want to say that the Witchblade manga had the same artist/style, but I'm not sure).

Don't worry about it, is just a glorified ad for the anime. The one with a proper manga is Bhikkhuni and that is running on Famitsu so isn't as risky as this one.
Good to know. I was just concerned.
Bhikkhuni seems to resemble SK in design more than the anime, so I'm not surprised that it's less risque (that OP was pretty neat, btw). Meanwhile Siren seems to have gotten no new information (I kind of feel like it's going to be like SK New Wave though). I really hope this multimedia idea works out for VD.
Some minor : The girls don't wear too much in case their clothes rip while transforming.
The three finest things in life are to splat your enemies, drive them from their turf, and hear their lamentations as their rank falls!Question about a trope page. Do we put everything on one page then split the tropes to a game an anime section when it gets too big? Because the way things sound, the game, the anime, and the mobile seem to take place in the same verse. When and where they take place seems to be different. Personsally, I think putting it all on one page would be fine, it's the character page that'll be a problem. What do you guys think?
Hyped for Hyperdimension Neptunia V 2I believe how it usually works is that we make one page for the franchise (usually making the main page whatever happens to be the most popular/tropey, like what we did for Senran Kagura) and separate everything on that page. If one of the projects starts getting troperiffic, then we go through the procedures to get that part of the franchise into its own page and moving tropes appropriately.
note
Just put the anime tropes on the anime subpgae.
Mirei is a very atractive protagonist
There are some photos of the Mermaid piecce run by Nyantype. Is very lewd, in fact I'm surprised that they managed to run the series as simply echii instead of full blown hentai
Huh. She kind of reminds me of Daidouji (sans wig) in that pic, though Mirei seems to be the only one from Mermaid that invokes similarities to an SK character.
And I feel like VD is Takaki's attempt to satisfy the people who wanted more from SK than teasing.

Exactly! That's why I inmediately felt in love with her as soon her design was revealed. Is like if Dai started taking fashion tips from Katsuragi and were openly lesbian.
Hyped as I am for the project, I can't help but wonder what is Takaki's role in it. The project has a scope very superior to Senran Kagura with the anime's holding the bulk of its success.
Still, I hope the anime has substance and characterization as memorable as the ones seen on Senran Kagura so is not fanservice for fanservice's sake.
Holy shit
They're not cutting corners to promote Mermaid
Anyways, according to what little info I've found on message boards, the setting for Valkyrie Drive does have a lot of potential beyond the lesbian fest.
So we have the Exsters and the Liberators present on -Mermaid-, Siren follows the same concept but it adds an hybrid class on the form of the setting's antagonist. Being an Hybrid she can either wield an exster or becoming one.
The interesting thing is that Bhikkhuni's cast is composed entirely by hybrids. Beyond being a gameplay commodity (having the characters locked on a role would hurt the game) it sets an interesting twist on the setting. Bhikkhuni's island is the one where the girls infected with the virus learn to harness its power, Siren is depicted as being almost a concentration site and Mermaid is the only one to be considered "normal" until Mirei's arrival.
If the series does get a continuation where every character gets to meet, is gonna be very interesting to see how they react to each other.
Ah, so the different island populations will have vastly different demographics due to differing conditions.
Agreed on the interest in seeing the characters from the different sites interact.
The three finest things in life are to splat your enemies, drive them from their turf, and hear their lamentations as their rank falls!Hm, interesting. Kind of reminds me of how the Ar tonelico games handled their setting (IIRC, every game was set in the same world, but the relations between the races were different in each game).
Awesome. Variety's usually a good thing.
You would indeed be right. The cultures are different on all 3 of the floating islands in Ar Tonelico. The song magic is also different (for example 2 is the only game where you have 2 Revatails sings. There is a plot reason for this).
Hyped for Hyperdimension Neptunia V 2Page for Episode 1 is up on the website!

What in the fuck.
In RWBY, every girl is Best Girl.Mermaid's first episode is out it was weird. Talking just about fanservice, series' pretty much hentai (lots and I do mean LOTS of detail going into nipples) with the manga one shot being an accurate description of how the transformation is achieved. And yet, the sequences between Mamori and Mirei are framed as being something more than simply convenience nor lust. At least Mirei spends a lot of time blushing and fidgeting over Mamori.
All in all, it didn't dissapoint. Now to wait for the subs to know what the hell is the story about.
Posting on mobile so I can't link this. Funimation is going to censor this so it'll take a while for the "offical" subs to come out.
Hyped for Hyperdimension Neptunia V 2Not surprising, from what I've heard this isn't unusual for Funi, especially with stuff like this one. It probably helps sell the "Uncut" versions on DVD later.
So it's basically akin to Queen's Blade/Seikon No Qwaser(sp?) in content then.note Also not surprising, though I was never really on board with the anime in the first place. I'll take a look at it someday, but I'm not in a rush to see it, even when it does get subs.
Hopefully we'll start getting much steadier info on the games now that the anime is airing.
