The attempts to humanize him will be from Blaine spinning sob stories in order to try and lessen his punishment
You fell victim to one of the classic blunders!I mean, you kinda can. Not if you're trying to make it seem like "Oh, he's actually a cool dude!" but I find a villain with a human side much more terrifying than a villain who's all evil all the time.
"It's so hard to be humble, knowing how great I am."Hell, one of the things I like about Blaine is that he's just an ordinary guy who's gotten high on his own power, largely as a result of an already-existent superiority complex.
Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies. He did mention daddy issues in the season finale (or possibly the episode before that, can't recall). He could have been lying, but he strikes me much more as someone to make light of his real problems than dodge the issue by making up entirely fake ones.
He also blamed megalomania and greed immediately after.
You fell victim to one of the classic blunders! In fairness those are clearly real issues he has.
Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies. At least he is not delusional.
The 'daddy issues' bit was quite clearly a spot of sarcasm.
I've seen writers get way too in love with characters like Blaine before. If he becomes the quirky token evil teammate, it's going to be to the show's detriment, especially if he never faces a real comeuppance for his crimes.
Yeah, Blaine becoming this show's Spike is definitely not something I want to see.
"It's so hard to be humble, knowing how great I am."I don't think that's gonna happen. Spike was a bit different than Blaine. First, Blaine is still the same person, while a vampire in the Buffyverse is just a corpse animated by a demon. Second, Spike got a Restraining Bolt installed to keep him from harming humans. Blaine is no longer a zombie, but that does not keep him from killing people. Third, Spike actively fought to get his soul back which equals becoming a better person. The information I read about Blaine in season 2 is that he teams up with Liv not because of remorse but convenience.
Besides, the writing I have seen so far is way to smart to have that happen.

You lost!Nah, if he teams up with Liv it will at best be an Enemy Mine situation.
Trump delenda estWell, I just caught up with the show. I hesitated for ages because I am really not into Zombies (or CW shows) but there were so many good reviews that I give it a shot and it was great. It is a little bit like Agent Carter in the way it is mostly carried by the main character.
I had some trouble with the whole concept of Blaine's business, though. So I am a crazy rich guy. Would I allow the guy who ruined my life by deliberately scratching me to milk me for money in exchange for Brains? Certainly not! I would try to find another source as soon as possible. Preferable one which doesn't involve needless killing.
The crazy rich are generally unaccustomed to doing work, or caring about the lives of others.
It is, in a lot of ways, the point of the series. Like, the victims could've been anyone, but the show settled on homeless youths.
Plus, we've seen what Blaine does to those who don't fall in line.
Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies.edited 2nd Sep '15 6:11:49 PM by Halberdier17
Batman Ninja more like Batman's Bizarre AdventureHello, I’m new here, but I want to contribute.
I don’t know if deserves mention but in episode 6 Ravi tells Liv that he is going to help her in the video game, then he tells her that his character is a “wereterrier with healing powers”. In the comics, Scott, one of the Gwen best friends is a wereterrier.
Also, the way Liv beat Sebastian in episode 12: perhaps is more than combat pragmatism; perhaps is a case of stronger with age?
Eh, the most likely factors to make a difference are that she's got a much more plentiful supply of brains, and that she has actually used zombie strength on purpose before. It's not magic - their bodies have been altered, and once that process has run to completion, there really isn't anywhere for extra strength to come from. Habits and skills at using it, yup, and she's got a fair bit of hands-on experience at violence by now.
That was probably a Mythology Gag.
Trump delenda estTime for more zombies!
Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult. The song the woman with the headphones was listening to was good it is "All You Zombies" by the Hooters.
Batman Ninja more like Batman's Bizarre AdventureMajor is working for Max Rager killing Zombies. Liv's new roommate also works for them.
Batman Ninja more like Batman's Bizarre AdventureRacist bigot Liv was awesome. Zombie-killing Major was less awesome. Although I guess he may end up figuring how Max Rager is playing them if he gets a glimpse at Liv's roommate.
Wow, a few things just annoyed me with this whole "we'll see a different side to Blaine and humanize him!"
Blaine is not some quirky, affably evil villain, he's a goddamn monster who has murdered dozens, if not hundreds of innocent people, including kids who were desperate and scared. You cannot present a character like this and then go "oh, but there's another side to him" later on.
