When I came across Worth It, this VG Cats webcomic was the first thing that came to mind that might be a suitable image. I did a little quick editing to downsize and fit the upper right panels in, but it gets the message across.

That's not bad, a little texty but not bad.

I find the small fact that he can just bamf out of there make the image not work so well.

Another possibility would be a frame showing Gollum sinking into lava while holding the ring, but the OP is good, if a bit wordy.

[up]Like this? Probably needs a caption to get the whole point across, though.

[up]That's quite good too. Yes, it probably would need an explanatory caption. The OP has the advantage there in that all the explanation required is already part of the suggestion.

That's a pretty good idea, combined with a good caption.

Would this be an appropriate time to debate whether the old Girl Genius image (moved to Was It Really Worth It? via this thread, then pulled from that at the end of THIS one) is worth reconsideration, or are we still firm on it not fitting the trope?

Maybe a crop of the last panel here? Just Faye in a fighting pose, and Marten's hand and speech bubbles?

Like so.

I think the issue with the former pic was that one panel shows him touching her butt, and the next has him saying that the (not shown) beatdown he was supposedly given was worth it.

Maybe if the comic actually showed her hitting him, we could see that he actually got hit.

My suggestion actually shows Nightcrawler taking action and teleporting himself and Gambit into a Bottomless Pit (or close enough), actually justifying the statement.

Again, he can just teleport himself out of there, at no cost to himself. Any actual cost there is just Take Our Word for It. Or Too Dumb to Live.

^ Totally worth it to kill Gambit at no expense to his own life...?

Hey, there's nothing in the trope description that specifically says whoever says the line has to be risking his own life. Dropping Gambit into the pit is certainly worth the following destruction and/or chaos that would follow according to the laconic.

Lemme do something with the comic...

EDIT: Simple crop...probably too texty but it gets the full context across.

[up]Well, that at least has the trope in it, even if it's wordy.

13 is better than nothing and I think slightly edges out the Girl Genius picture, although it would work too if we blanked out the distracting image in the corner which has nothing to do with the trope.

[up][up]You could probably crop out the top word bubble without loosing much. The implication (that he smacked her butt and got punched for it) is clear enough without it.

I made that edit in post 9.

I personally think it's better than 13.

I did a quick clean-up job on the Girl Genius panel, so here it is for consideration.

The Girl Genius image isn't an example. Worth It is supposed to be about jokes. The dramatic version is Was It Really Worth It?.

EDIT: There's this webcomic, but it's probably too big.

Except it was decided it fit Worth It more than Was It Really Worth It?.

Despite it being decided that it fit Was It Really Worth It? more than Worth It.

We only need part of that comic, but I think it really works and it's very simple.

I think the weakness of 22 is that you need to look carefully to even guess what they've done, and even then it's not clear or certain that the redness of her bottom was caused by them slapping it.

I like the last two panels of this strip:
