Last two chapters of manga are up now.
If there's anyone else that was going through that first.
It ends just as you thought it would.
Not the ending we wanted, but the ending we needed.
Ohgodohgodohgodohgod
And so it ends just like the manga.
I started bawling at the letter, just as I expected, even though I read the final chapter three weeks ago.
The music sequences have undoubtedly been the high point of the series, and the final one was visually impressive. Lots and lots of budget spent, but it was well worth it.
Now there's an OVA planned, which could be anything between an anime original alternate ending and a time skip; I'd really appreciate the latter a lot more.
Yes! It actually happened! He did get that one last duet with Kaori (in his heart), and it was gorgeous. Kousei's emotions were at a climax here, and they manifested themselves beautifully into his performance.
The rest of the episode wrapped itself up nicely, and the conclusion felt very satisfying.
Does the manga explain exactly what Kaori's illness was? It looked like some form of juvenile heart failure.
There's something insignificant written here, but because it's insignificant, you didn't read it.Nope, there's no explanation — just a case of Convenient Terminal Illness, for differing values of "convenient". A congenital heart failure could be an explanation, as well as pulmonary illness.

I've been watching this series without posting here since I wanted to avoid spoilers.
It was boring at times, but man this final ep. Kaori was Kousei's biggest fan, wasn't she?
You touched my heart and it shined, turning so colorful...

Superb finale. Kousei both got and didn't get the final duet he wanted, and what a grand musical segment it was. Bursting with color indeed.
It was in many ways a predictable end. Kaori's death, and her lie. The latter has always been plain to see, but it was only in this final episode that I understood why she said what she said.
@ Cmdr Strikr I definitely want the OVA to be an epilogue of sorts too. The finale was, understandably, focused on Kousei and his muse, but there are other things I want to know. I want to see more of E Mi for starters.
Emi could give her a run for her money.

@fillerdude: I'm not particularly worried about the OVA, even if they made a fan-driven campaign for it. Whether they go for a "beach episode", or for a Distant Finale, it's all good for me. We'll have to wait and see after volume 11 is released.
It's really obvious A-1 Pictures put a lot of love in adapting this.
A very superb adaptation, even surpassing the original at times due to the innate advantages of the medium.
For all the faults and personal gripes I've had with this, I can forgive it.
Romantic dramas are really not my cup of tea. I only gave this show a chance because the premise revolved around classical music performers.
That said, I think that the high points of the show were definitely more than worth the trouble of enduring some of those boring, melodramatic monologues.
I think I've heard of that campaign. Is it the one where the official anime website said that "a miracle would occur" if they got over 10,000 tweets?
There's something insignificant written here, but because it's insignificant, you didn't read it.A "miracle", huh? Sounds like an alternate ending where Kawori (yes, that's how her name is actually spelt, oddly enough) survives. I wouldn't like that though, that would ruin the whole experience.

Give the God Eater game thread some love!I'd expect Kaori to survive but in a comatose state.
For some reason I have this weird idea of Kousei's classical music-hating daughter meeting Kaori's ghost.
Watched the first 3 episodes…
It's not often that I fall in love with a character, but I might do just that for Kawori. Just watching her makes you feel alive seriously. Well… I can say that for the series as a whole so far. It's all so gorgeous, both in visuals and music…
I think I found a little gem there. =3 Well, I'll see if it stays this way. At any rate, an iyashikei is always pleasant occasionally.
Flippé de participer à ce grand souper, je veux juste m'occuper de taper mon propre tempo.(attempts to stifle giggles)
Give the God Eater game thread some love!I can't even tell if trolling
Chapter 1 of Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso: Coda is up. It's a single volume (of about 5 chapters?) bundled with the dvd.
Give the God Eater game thread some love!Wow, he was only four years old? I thought he was a chibi sized seven year old, at the least.
I liked the flashbacks that showed Kousei and his pals hanging out when they were children, so I'm glad that we're getting more of that with this extra volume.
There's something insignificant written here, but because it's insignificant, you didn't read it.I'm guessing that this will be the subject of the OVA?
EDIT: Nevermind.

(just saw episode 4…)
… Okay, I have a bad feeling about this now.
Flippé de participer à ce grand souper, je veux juste m'occuper de taper mon propre tempo.
You jinxed it when you called it iyashikei, because it isn't.
Shigatsu is frankly not even subtle with the drama, and in later episodes it hits like a sock full of bricks to the face. Repeatedly.

Episode 10! Okay, iyashikei is probably not the right term. Kousei is quite angsty. Still a treat for the eyes and the ears; although I could probably live with less flashbacks and repetitions. It's like watching a Naruto episode sometimes, seriously.
But really, the stars of this show are the pianist and violonist who perform the soundtrack. ò.Ô When the characters comment that this or that is happening, you can actually hear it, with all the subtleties. That seems pretty hard to do.
I'm waiting to hear more of Kawori's awesome violin. =3
edit: Finished…
… No…
No. No no no no no no no. No. Just no.
I… just……… ;__;
I'm not crying. You are crying.

Flippé de participer à ce grand souper, je veux juste m'occuper de taper mon propre tempo.Wikipedia page of Shigatsu has the name of the violinist and pianist for Kousei and Kaoru
At least she confessed.
I'm thinking Kao will die in episode 21 so episode 22 can deal with the aftermath.
