The way the official synopsis manages to emphasize all of the worst aspects of the story and none of the good ones is kind of impressive
It's been surprisingly good so far, but I'm worried about the next episode— They don't have enough budget for me to be optimistic about the action
Lots of discussion on this one, I notice. Well, considering what it is, I'm not that surprised. Actually saw the first episode a while ago, but didn't post then because reasons.
Episode 1. In which they exposit.
Conspicuous CG is conspicuous.
Suddenly, dragons. Then powers. Okay, that works as a background explanation.
I kinda like the OP song, even if it's generic. The visuals are more generic, though.
Well, I can't fault her for thinking he's an intruder.
How subtle they work in the exposition.
Well, at least they put some thought into the names, rather than just sprinkle random references into them.
Sis is right. He was asked to prove he had the power, not to produce something capable of slaying a ruby turtle.
Well, can't leave the stupid misunderstands alone without incorporating them into some stupid harem antics.
You have to be rather careful while stretching. It's easy to pull a muscle, especially if someone's helping you.
Enermy.
Gotta say, the transformations quickly get old.
I'm not going to be surprised if it turns out she's a Zero. Other than that it reminds me of Claymore-
Episode 2. In which there's awkward.
That first image of the flashback reminds me of the intro to SNES Shadowrun game.
But didn't they already go over this?
Totally not a shady character. Speaks with a sort of secretive whispering tone and is named Loki.
Because that's how you do it. First you send someone away, and then you explain their mission.
Totally not a tsundere.
So number four was the one who died.
Right. Just in case anyone forgot that panties are holy in anime.
Girls in harem anime are generally much perverted than the guys. Well, the main guy, at least. Unless it's someone like Issei or Arata. But they're the exception.
Honestly, for something they expected for so long, they're very aggressively tense.
So far, the anime isn't that bad, but not entirely interesting. Kind of like Infinite Stratos without the mecha and characters where Houki and Cecilia would stand out as good. I'll give it a few episodes, I think. There's not a whole lot I want to watch this season anyway.
Check out my fanfiction! The conspiracy with the aptly named Loki would have made for good intrigue in a better show. Alas.
I'm getting the same feeling while watching Fafnir as the one I get when I watch Trinity 7. It's not just the voice actor for the main character. Art / budget matters, I think, plus the "energy" level of the show is low, compared to something like Absolute Duo or World Break.
Still finishing: a whole lot of shows from Fall 2013 and Winter 2014.Episode 3: This show is way better than I was expecting from the premise. I think it's because it actually plays the whole situation for drama which should rightfully be there, rather than as a backdrop for gags.
Of course it turns out the main character has an incredible power, but at least he can't use it willy nilly with no consequences.
After three episodes I decided to keep watching this.
I watched 3 episodes of Infinity Fafnir D, dropped it.
While Infinity Fafnir D doesn't focus on those rather old harem cliche like Infinite Stratos (I somehow completed Season 1, not giving Season 2 a chance) did. I still have to drop it because of my personal taste. The character design isn't that interesting and there's too much Kirito's voice in this season. What's with all those Sunrise sound effect? Am I the only one that notice that? The story isn't too interesting either. I know, the story isn't the important part in some show, but still.
What do you mean, it's called Unlimited Fafnir? Whatever.
Episode 4: Where there are lolis.
The headmaster is an perverted lesbian loli. Because of course she is.
Just like I though Tear turned out to be pretty obnoxious. I spent most of the episode hoping she'd stop talking. I really hate the token loli thing. If I never saw a girl below 15 in anime I would be happy.
It's kinda hard to tell between all the cringe but it seems Yuu really lost some memories. I wonder how the problem will exacerbate if he keeps using the power.
Episode 5:
Beach episode, usual beach hijinks happen. We also learn that no all D's are on humanity's side. Outside of this, not much occurs until the end of the episode when a dragon appears in the middle of the island. This is gonna be good.
Episode 6 was a little dragged out I thought but still reasonably entertaining. It also looks like Yuu acquires the powers of any dragon he kills.
Yeah, it felt like they were really stretching the whole thing. But it was enjoyable nonetheless.
Hecatoncheir cannot be destroyed. What a troublesome foe.
Yuu new ability seems pretty op, but this much is par of the course.
For all his supposed danger Hecatoncheir didn't do much damage. Glad we have this over at least.
Some drama on the incest front as Mitsuki wants to get out the way for Iris and Yuu can't remember shit, which only make things worse. If he keeps using that gun of his this problem will only exacerbate.
Yuu doesn't have to worry about his romantic prospects anyway as pretty much all candidates are terrible.
Hot springs ticket. Totally not a trap. I promise.
I get that they tried to give explanation on how Basilisk power works but it makes little sense. Water won't just turn to stone, no matter how much time passes.
I like that the plan amounted to dropping something heavy on Basilisk. It almost worked too.
Well, I guess this is best left to Yuu and his harem.
Oh come on, there's nothing really wrong with Iris.
I must say that I found the dramatic music whenever they switched back to Yuu in the Hot Springs to be quite funny. Also I think that this is the only time in a harem anime that I have seen where the main character goes to a hot spring and doesn't get caught by the girls.

Yeah, I expecting something to happen but then the scene just ended.
That's not stone, it's salt. Still, AGING seawater into salt, dense enough to be indistinguishable from solid rock, especially on moving seawater, requires A LOT of secondary powers.
Attacking from far above, and from behind was tactically very smart, as the Basilisk's two "normal" eyes face forward in an arc of maybe 45 degrees in any given direction, and the Basilisk stands perfectly still while using it's "I'll age you to dust" ability.
Still, that third eye... makes the Basilisk completely broken! Going by the previews, it rotates like a periscope, and ages things several orders of magnitude faster than the "normal" eyes.
Attacking it from below... We don't even know how thick that "salt" it's standing on is, but it has to be damned hard if it can support the weight of a gargantuan creature like that, while surrounded by ocean water without even flaking.
Right now, the only advantages our intrepid heroes have is that it's slow, and can only aim in one direction at a time, but dang, if it's anything like the other Dragons, it's going to take a hell of a lot of firepower to take down, and doing that from multiple directions simultaneously within the time the have left, impossibly difficult.
Iris is a dumb moeblob. Not exactly top-grade romantic partner material. Fyril is probably the least terrible out of all of them. I was honestly surprised that she wasn't trolling Yuu— she really just wanted to give him some eye candy. Aww. But she's still a so-so character like the rest of them.
The constant shifts to the dramatic BGM was doubly hilarious because it was so poorly executed.
Their plan sucked, actually. Attacking with just the big top thing note was stupid. They should have mounted an offense on several fronts. Plus not a decoy/distraction in sight.
Episode 10: Boring. Plan was kind of dumb.
I liked this episode, even though they are really stretching this arc.
The talk between Yuu and Iris was kinda nice. Will we actually get some kind of development after this battle is over.
They really should have used a combined arms assault, and attack with the bomb and the ray at the same time. It might worked.
I wonder what will happen next. The glasses girl might die, but she's been such a non presence that I don't even care.
Personally I've been thinking glasses girl is the evil D in disguise since she tuned up.
Okay, that's a possibility, but what would her evil plan be? If she just wanted to kidnap Tear, she could have done so already.
I thought she said what her plan was, to turn Tear into a Basilisk, presumably so they two can mate and create Basilisk babies.
But how is sneaking into Midgar in guise of a student and then not actually doing anything conductive to that?
Waiting for her chance, ingratiating herself with the people who could stop her. Infiltration is a game of patience after all.
So yeah, as can be guessed this story is bit generic and played out. Powers that only girls can use, except the protagonist of course, running into naked girls, long lost sisters, all the \"good\" stuff, and yet I find myself liking it more than I expected. It may be because it spends more time so far explaining stuff about the setting than on usual antics. Also so far the focus is much more on the drama of the situation than on comedy which is interesting. It could use more action but it seems that will come with the next episode.
After two episodes I\'m cautiously optimistic.
