Ack, this one never got opened...I'm good to pull it for JAFAAC.
"Present image tells us nothing"?! It tells us how the stereotype looks. It's a distinctive look. Way better than nothing. Not nearly JAFAAC, IMO.

Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan.Aye. It looks like a stereotype.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanThe article is about Irish Police steriotypes. I don't see how this image isn't Officer Jones or Officer Picard. On the other hand, I don't see how you could have an image that did, unless he was drinking Guinness or something...
Reg Shoe here. Currently more or less unable to use site or get into my account thanks to switchover issues. I'm not bitter, just British. The only things I can find on Google is this sticker, and this screenshot from Road Rash. I wouldn't recommend the screenshot. :/
How does the current look Irish?
The current is certainly telling me something. The costuming indicates a certain type of policeman—it's not the same stereotype as, say, this◊ style.
Rhymes with "Protracted."It doesn't help that the page in question seems to be talking more about the role of the Irish in the American police forces, while the picture in question, to me at least, more resembles that of an old-fashioned British Bobby. Especially the helmet.
(Annoyed grunt)While it does add something, it's still ambiguous and can make it confusing about what it says about the trope. I'm going with pull.
Check out my fanfiction!I think the current image is what many American police uniforms looked like when the Police as a concept was first created around the country, and tons of Irishmen ended up joining them.
A comic example might be good to show the accent. Chief O'Hara appears in Batman Dark Victory, but only one panel appears in Google Image Search. Anyone have that graphic novel to see if there are any other appropriate panels?
Clock is set.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanThe clock is WAY past due on this one and we don't have enough consensus to take any action; locking up.
Well, what can be said about this? This trope is about a stereotype of Irish police officers, especially in American media and how what they are relates to their job.
The image in question though only shows a police officer, and it tells us nothing about who he is, how he is Irish, and the caption is just a pun on a name.
There has to be something better out there for this than what is there, because the present image tells us nothing.
"Did you expect somebody else?"
