General Dynamics Unveils New Pint Sized Franken Tank.
And given the specs, it's woefully obsolete already. You made a light tank turret and you made it like an Abrams internally down to almost the finest minutiae? The Abrams turret is 40 years obsolete, not cutting edge. Any new 21st century tank is going to have to be either autoloaded or outright fully automated turrets.
But what do you think of the platform the Griffin is based onnote ?
Keep Rolling OnRun-of-the-mill but not necessarily disappointing.
It's supposed to be a tank for airborne units, but we already had the Armored Gun System. GD is looking for a contract in Mobile Protected Firepower.
Big Army wants a 32 ton "tank" for airborne forces. Meh. It may happen.
I think a better strategy is to go how Boeing is with the AH-64: they know there won't be any more US orders but the foreign market looks good.
All night at the computer, cuz people ain't that great. I keep to myself so I won't be on The First 48First AMPV to be handed over to the US Army for testing in December 2016. The thing looks huge, and that's a lot of ERA blocks on the display vehicle.
Charlie Stross's cheerful, optimistic predictions for 2017, part one of three.I thought Red Cross/Crescent vehicles couldn't be armed?
Oh really when?Garcon: That is a medic vehicle not a red cross vehicle. Medics can be armed because enemies have a bad habit of mistaking that red cross for a bulls eye.
Who watches the watchmen? How can you tell the difference? Besides the gun, obviously.

Oh really when?Well, the red crosses are traditionally a big clue that either it's a medical vehicle or Swiss.
Garcon: The Red Cross doesn't operate military equipment for starters and the Geneva conventions specify the use of the symbol for the following. The symbol isn't quite exclusive to the Red Cross itself.
- Marking facilities for the care of injured and sick armed forces members
- Armed forces medical personnel and equipment
- Military chaplains
- International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement organizations such as the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), and the 185 national Red Cross and Red Crescent societies.

Who watches the watchmen? What's it like to command an M3 Grant in North Africa, now done up to look like something from Commando.
I wonder if today's tank turrets are spacious enough to pass a cheese sandwich in.
I have disagreed with her a lot, but comparing her to republicans and propagandists of dictatorships is really low. - An idiotI'm surprised it wasn't a nice spot of tea.
The M3 was a stopgap measure, obsolete before it ever rolled off the assembly line. Still, the Brits were grateful for anything they could get from Lend-Lease, since they had left most of their own equipment on the beaches at Dunkirk.
This Space Intentionally Left Blank.I dunno about you guys but I could go for a real nice grilled cheese right now.
And I mean a nice one. With like four cheeses and light butter on the bread bit, little toasty. Delicious.
Oh really when?^ Make it two.
Some people like a slice of tomato on it, but I've always preferred onion on mine.
This Space Intentionally Left Blank.Nope, just a thin slice of raw onion, broken up and scattered across the cheese, then slap the top slice of bread on and grill it, with plenty of butter in the frying pan. That's the way we've always made grilled cheese sandwiches in my family.

This Space Intentionally Left Blank.Sometimes I like to throw some sliced ham or turkey or bacon on one. Gives it some much needed protein.
The M3 Lee had a surprising amount of persistence, being used for various things throughout WWII. Possibly my favorite being the version with a high-intensity spot light intended to blind enemy defenders.
^ Oi! Get back off-topic! We were talking about grilled cheese sandwiches!

Inter arma enim silent legesI wonder if using tortillas instead of bread would invalidate whether or not it's a grilled sandwich. Or maybe we throw tortillas inside the bread. Or bread inside the tortillas.
Or maybe we make tortillas out of bread...@_@
Armored Sandwiches. Totally on topic. Best weapon for defeating rye bread with hardened face RHA 1000mm equivalent?

US Army testing Hydrogn Fuel Cell Pickup Truck
The US army is testing GM's ZH 2 hydrogen fuel cell truck for possible use and will be sending it to the proving grounds. They expect to finish up testing sometime in 2017. It should also be noted that GM is already working alongside the US Navy to create a long duration UUV that is already being tested.
The US Military has officially received their first Modernized TACMS for the MLRS and HIMAR systems. It now has a unitary warhead and new guidance packages.
