I'm basing mine off the genre:

2D PLATFORMER: Mario World 3D PLATFORMER: either 64 or the Galaxy series RACING: Either 64 or 8 PARTY: either 2,4, or 5 RPG: Paper Mario 64 (have yet to play Dream Team, so that may change) SPORTS: Mario Tennis 64

Also, while I love Smash more than most Mario games, I don't count it as a Mario game...it's as much a Mario game as it is a Zelda/Pokemon/Metroid/Star Fox/Sonic/Kid Icarus/F-Zero/Fire Emblem/MOTHER/Mega Man/etc. game

2D Platformer: World.

3D Platformer: Tie between Galaxy 2 and 3D World.

RPG: Superstar Saga.

Sports: Strikers.

Platform Spinoff: Tie between Wario Land and DK Country.

Puzzle: Dr. Mario

Kart: 64 (admittedly based purely on nostalgia)

Arcade: Donkey Kong.

Party: The original (although I am quite fond of 2)

3D: Galaxy/2 (They're both good for different reasons.)
Party: 8
Kart: 8 :P
Spinoff: DKC
Sports: Super Sluggers (It's pretty mediocre, but the roster and the story are pretty cool, plus the Wii didn't have many good baseball games when it should have.)
RPG: Bowser's Inside Story (Forgot about the RP Gs!? But I love them so...)

2D: Super Mario Bros. 2 - I think it really evolved the game play that we came to expect out of a Mario game.

3D: Super Mario 64 - I just never got into the 3D iterations as much as the first one.

RPG: Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story - Not sure if it was the chance to play as Bowser, or the sheer amount of Fawful, but I loved it.

Racing: Mario Kart Wii - Don't get me wrong; the subsequent ones have been great (I came so close to saying 8). But this is the one that still makes me go "Holy crap" as I race with some of the stunts I pull.

Reminder: Offscreen Villainy does not count towards Complete Monster.
