Also, I am not overly sure who the "hero" is in the current. The suggestion is better.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI thought we'd had an IP thread about this one at one point, but I can't find it...I do remember trying to find good pics of Bane hoisting Batman over his head for the Stock Poses thread and not having a lot of luck. The current is alright; I'll weigh in again when I can look at the suggestion.
I actually prefer the current. I don't think there's a pressing need to illustrate that it's the hero the villain has over his head, as the emphasis of the trope is on the pose. A cover also has a bunch of distracting text.
Check out my fanfiction!I have a slight preference for the current image; it has a better focus on the pose, I think.
There's a no-text version◊ of the image if that's too distracting.
Well, cropped right it might be just as good as the current, then.
Check out my fanfiction!I think the current one is fine. The no-text version if the suggestion is ok, but would need to be cropped off about halfway down. Superman is completely irrelevant to illustrating the trope and is distracting.
I think the suggested change would be a lateral move, not an improvement.
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.I like the second best. The last one is also nice, but does it qualify for this trope if it's the hero hoisting up the villain?
The last one is from an issue of Superman/Batman where Superman and Batman have flipped powers, and Batman went a bit crazy as a result. That is, it is an example, but not obviously so.
I mainly included it for Rule of Funny.
I don't like the second one because of the cropping, but otherwise decent. I like the toy one, though.
Check out my fanfiction! Here's one more Bane-Batman◊, which I actually like a lot.
I like that one as well
Many of these to me look like X throwing Y.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanThat is what they usually are. In comics and such they choose that moment to illustrate the panel, cartoons just have them hold for a second to get the same effect.
This is also the standard position for preparing to toss a guy off something, which is done by both heroes and villains.

I like 9.2 because it's clearer and brighter than the current image, and also Batman's ohno face
Should we crowner this?
Crowner's hooked.
Is there something wrong with the crowner? Everytime I vote on one entry, the option list disappear, and I have to keep refreshing the crower to vote for more.
Same here...
I'm getting that issue, too.
EDIT: Started a TW thread about it.

I'm pretty sure that's actually Mongul, not Darkseid.
Hence the comic's title..."The Rage of Mongul".

Ah, you're right, I didn't catch that. Edited the options to reflect.
Crown Description:
Nominations for replacement images:
Not terrible, I suppose, but it is rather dark, grainy, and I'm not too pleased with how messy the lines and text are.
Found this◊ while hunting for Hero Killer images, which I think looks better than the image in this page.
