Opened this, but the trope is not to my knowledge a character trope.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanIt is not a Character Trope, look at Sonic The Hedgehog's Chaos Emeralds.
However the image is really plain and I think could be much better and this trope is about the 7 colors of the traditional rainbow not the entire spectrum with the occasional switching up of 1 or 2 colors.

Characters are irrelevant, but both suggestions are a huge improvement.
Image Source. Please update whenever an image is changed. For an example coming from a work, there's always the Rainbooms logo: [1]◊
Bigger version, though without the black background: http://img2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20140728084626/equestria-girls-rainbow-rocks/pl/images/4/49/Logo_zespo%C5%82u_''The_Rainbooms''.png (damn link doesn't work well imbedded, you have to copy-and-paste it)

@3: Even if not a character trope, it probably still needs to signify something in the story and not just "rainbows". I like 3.1 best of your suggestion.
I like 3.2 the most - awesome imagery, that one.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanIs it important that there are seven colours? That seems to be the case looking at the examples.
I don't think the Zelda suggestion (3.2) is even an example, since it's just a collection of six distinct colours unrelated to the trope.
3.1 and 3.3 both work, though, and I prefer 3.1 considering the added rainbow motif on their helmets.
"Not a character trope" in this case means "not specifically a character trope" since it can still very well apply to characters.

Check out my fanfiction! You got me there. 1.2 or 5.2 then.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard Feynman1.2 or any of the suggestions in 3 are good.
"Yeah, it's a shame. Here we are in an underground cave with all these lasers, and instead of having a rave we're using it for evil."The opinions seem a bit all over the place for this one, so a crowner will be needed.
Crowner hooked.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanBump for votes....although this one's looking pretty decisive already.
Calling this one; can someone please upload and add the winner? Thanks in advance.
Caption or no?
'We are the Prism Rangers' ?
No caption consensus here, evidently; locking this one.

Nominations for replacement images:
I'm not sure a strip of rainbow colour spectrum is an illustration of this trope. This is a subtrope of Color-Coded Characters, so wouldn't it be better to show the characters as well?
