Jaw Drop has been changed from this to this. I'd say the original is much better. (Plus it's referenced in the article text..)

Whoa. Yeah.

What is it with that particular frame from One Piece? This is not the first page that it's been put on. And frankly, it looks more like terror than surprise or shock to me.

My vote is to put back the Genie.

It came up in past Oh, Crap! discussions and was always turned down.

Firstly i gotta say i'm sorry, i dont really know how tvropes works so i assumed it is ok to edit images

I put it there mainly because

1. There were 2 people in that image, somebody may get confused 2. the One Piece screenshot is more detalied. Instead of 1 frame of a movie, it is one whole page of a manga. 3. It is a very easily recognisable image for anime fans

But anyway feel free to change it/ do what you want.

Also there is also an anime equivalent: images(dot)wikia(dot)com/onepiece/images/archive/0/04/20121023031158!Enel_Shocked_Face.png

However someone needs to upload it and i dont have any idea how

Also that other genie pic is good too

[up][up][up][up] There's no problem with mistakes based on not knowing how things are done (for tropers who learn from mistakes, at any rate). Wanting to change a page for the better is a good thing we encourage.

Anyway, for the points you brought up:

  1. Considering the name of the trope and the clear difference between the characters, I don't think that's a significant problem. But overall a fair point to consider.
  2. Amount of detail isn't important for actually illustrating the trope. If anything, it can make the image too busy to see the trope clearly. Some detail is needed, but only enough to show the trope.
  3. How recognisable an image is is completely irrelevant, and related to Fan Myopia. If you're at all required to recognise the character in the image, that's a strike against the image. There are exceptions, but those are rare, and only applicable to world-wide recognisable characters like Mario, Mickey Mouse, and Superman, and even then the information you can assume is known to the public is limited to their base traits.

thank you, Another Duck.

The image with the genie suggested above is the best imo. It should be that.

The Genie pic suggested above is good, but the current is too, and they're pretty similar. I don't think we need to change the image.

The current is literally the first scene I thought of when I saw the trope title, so naturally I think it's perfect. But the quality could be better, so here's a nicer image of the scene:

Hi Alexandri! Your picture is a pretty good illustration of the trope, though it also kinda looks like he's screaming or laughing. I think the trapezoidal shape of Genie's jaw (a common gag in Western Animation) better exemplifies the trope though.

I like the improved version of the original. I always liked how it shows both the realistic and cartoony variations of the trope.
