I admit, I can be a bit snobbish about music, but I really detest sloppy work (unless it is intentional for some palpable reason). I'm not a major (I planned to, but ended up studying film instead), but I've grown up with a classical musical education, so I have a somewhat more rigid approach to things.
Fear the cinnamon sugar swirl. By the Gods, fear it, Laurence. Here's some from a game a lot of people won't have heard from: Croc.
First game had Be Wheely Careful, Sand and Freedom, and plausibly Crystal Island.
Second game had most of the tracks from the second world, and plausibly the fourth world as well.
I'd link stuff, but I'm still trying to learn how to make neat and tidy hyperlinks on these forums.
If everyone were normal, the world would be a dull place. Like reality television.@TAPETRVE: i enjoy dark souls' score a lot, as i've said before, but given that i have very little in the ways of a musical education you're probably more qualified to judge its merits than i am.
I do really like Shunsuke Kida's score, admittedly. I wouldn't have minded him coming back for Dark Souls. I thought most of his boss themes were kind of forgettable, but the good songs were pretty strong.
the lack of when a person changes makes me sad ):

Every time I hear this I want to curl up in a ball and cry.
From the Burial at Sea DLC.
Gonna agree with Clarste. The saddest song will be the one that played when you were absolutely devastated.
That said, I feel obligated to post this:
As someone already posted, much of the Shadow of the Colossus soundtrack is wonderfully sad. It's my favorite videogame soundtrack.
I found the "Little Girl's Theme" from Kid Icarus: Uprising. Please ignore the graphic of the cheerful angel and just listen to the music. The context of it in the actual game is actually that sad. It plays for a little girl outside of a destroyed city when the world has gone to Hell. Saying anything more would be a spoiler.

I also love the music for the Lanayru Sand Sea in The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. Whether or not it's "sad" can be up to opinion, but I've always found it haunting and aching - music that bespeaks all that used to be and is no longer in a desert that was once a living ocean.

In which I attempt to be a writer.I have to say, I've only heard one song from the Shadow of the Colossus OST, and that really gave me chills.
Pavane for a Dead Princess (Breath of Fire IV).
Dream, Teague (Legend of Legaia).
Requiem of Grief (Suikoden II).

For those interested, apparently, the entire sountrack for Shadow of the Colossus is up on Youtube.

I find even the fast-paced battle-songs to have a touch of soft sorrow to them, appropriate to the theme of the game.
In which I attempt to be a writer.Find this one kind of sad too https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N7VdXMFKY98 (I like Sonic if you didn't guess :)

Are you a music major?
I never realized Minecraft had such an moving piece of background music.
Man, there's Final Fantasy X-2 and Journey that I haven't brought up either. Need to find those.
