I don't think Youko was conceived in high-school… though considering Touko's character, that may not be totally impossible. >.> Going by Karen's recount, Touko and Genjirou were in high-school around twenty years ago, which would mean Youko (currently 18) was born not long after that.

Youko is bit underweight it seems. You'd never tell looking at her.

She's definitely taller than Asahi at least.

That probably plays into why she's single. The men probably got intimidated by her first. Apparently, a woman that tall is really damn rare in Japan.

Also, are those weights normal for Japanese teenagers...? Those kids seem pretty underweight. I would expect an average teenager be 10 kg heavier than them.

Maybe not 10kg, but at least 4 or 5 more, yeah.

As for Akari, going by chap 142 it does seem that being taller than the boys (and rather tomboyish) made her the butt of some jokes, since she wasn't "cute".

I would add like 10 kg fro Youko weight to match how she looks.

Also all that food.

I usually have to avoid reading the the weights and figures of characters in visual novels or I start thinking that the entire story is actually a quest to make them eat a sandwich or something. Please, we care about you, we can't stand what you're doing to yourself.

Mikan has the excuse of not being very wealthy, at least.

Chapter 110 up. An Asahi-focused chapter for once.

Oh, and there's Ryou in it but, don't mind him.

A more serious chapter this time... relatively speaking of course, this is still Jitsu wa. But the subject matter is one that resonates well with many young people I think. Also, Akari was acting like a proper teacher for once.

It's sweet of Asahi to want to follow Youko , and of Youko to want their goals to match naturally.

And then comes Akane with the super hero idea. This is gonna be good.

As someone struggling with this same problem, this chapter hits pretty close to home. That's fun.

There really aren't many Asahi-centric chapters, so this is a bit of a nice change of pace.

More like rare Asahi-centered chapter which he's not the Butt-Monkey. Several chapter after this are devoted in making him suffer as much as possible without killing him, so to speak.

And yeah, this chapter hits home for a lot of people.

That's the good thing about being ...not quite... of high school age anymore: that sort of anxiety is long gone as you grow to realise that you can succeed in life without having any clue what you're doing beforehand anyway.

Personally I'm… kind of halfway between the two states. Between "damn, I have to decide already!" and "Oh well, I'll manage somehow." But yeah, everyone has got through this phase at some point I think.

Chapter 145… Wow… This one almost felt like a Sakura Discord chapter − except better done. Probably the most serious and melancholic chapter of the series so far. So Mikan has gotten a job and is gonna move after graduation (amusingly, to Seomi, the town where SD takes place). Mikan has finally given up on getting married to Asahi… because that was never her true wish in the first place. And Asahi feels like he has no right to console her. And then a wild Oka appears…

Goddamnit Masuda, why are you so good…

Chap 15 and 16 of Sakura Discord are up. They start the arc of my favorite character in the series.

Just read the RA Ws, and damn...Yeah, got to be the heaviest chapter in the manga. Poor Mikan. Is it finally Oka's turn to shine?

And Masuda sure likes refrencing Sakura Discord a lot, huh. Wonder how Mikan would react when she meets "Oka", "Shima", and "Sakura".

I was hoping for an Akane arc, but this is good, too.

Well, Akane does seem to do Principal stuff in the background (someone has to manage all these supernatural beings). Though she leaves a good part of it to Karen I guess. >.>

On the raw side, chapter 146… a relatively serious chapter again. Until the end. A flashback of Okada Kanade's meeting with Anazaru Asahi and Evil Queen Mikan. Back to the present, Okada does the same kind of half-assed confession as in chapter 99, and Mikan is so tired of that she doesn't even feel like giving him an answer. Ouch. And then Okada hears the glasses talk.

…Oh, and also, Okada can hear people's thoughts. Or could, since it's apparently become harder after he entered high-school (Akane's influence, maybe).

It's a cute development. Well no...Painfilly adorable is a better way of putting it.

Asahi finding a dream that's entirely his is nice. One of my main criticisms with his character, at least early on, was that he showed almost no autonomy at times. He seemed to only move with the rousing encouragement of others. That sort of rings true here, but being unsure about a career path makes a whole lot of sense, so I'll let it slide.

Youko and him just wanna help, and make life easier and more fun for everyone. That's so sweet. They're so sweet. This whole manga is sweet.

Oh, that's the game we're playing here. One can only take so much of Senmanga's bullshit so actually looking at the raws can wait.

Hazarding a guess, this is probably all building up to a classic teary-eyed, anime blush-y confession. Which will be interesting since we rarely see Oka give a shit.

It's gonna be great.
