Just a Face and a Caption: You Are In Command Now

So does anyone know what does the picture represent? All I can infer is the other person just got startled that someone got choked to death, much different than the intended representation of who is in command now.

Uh, yeah, the image doesn't illustrate the trope in any way. Without prior knowledge to the work, it looks like a random image slapped with a caption (which is basically just a repeat of the trope name).

Burn it.

The caption is the actual subtitle of the scene, which depicts someone talking/listening to a screen while the guy next to him is force-choked.

Considering it's the trope namer you can assume the dialogue comes from the scene, rather than just repeating the trope name. You also see a guy dying, which opens up a position. Combined with the dialogue, I think it's clear that it's the command position that opens up, and that the guy listening gets that position because the other guy didn't live up to the position.

It's not JAFAAC, because it actually depicts a scene of an example of the trope, and it doesn't solely hinge on knowing the scene in question.

Keep Until Better Image Suggested.

Very strong "keep". They're wearing uniforms and everything. Suggest something better.

I vote keep unless something much better is suggested.

The classic Star Wars trilogy is one of those things that if you haven't seen, then you really, really need to do that. Considering that it is the trope namer and one of the most famous movies ever, I think it is an exception to JAFAAC. Keep.

Admittedly, I'm guilty of myopia, but even without context, we've got two men of roughly equal rank... with one of them being killed, and the other looking at the screen, as though he's taking an order. Specifically, as though he's being told You Are in Command Now.

I guess this is one of those times when dialog-based trope titles helps.

I'm perfectly fine with the current, although I wonder, does the Blu Ray transfer of the scene have that same crackly effect? It's been too long since I watched them.

Well, the Wookieepedia has a good quality version◊ of it, at least, if you want to do a different crop of it.

That does look better.

This is definitely not JAFAAC. There is context in the form of a guy in a military uniform obviously dying behind him, and the guy in the foreground looks very uncomfortable. The caption makes it clear what is happening, but by no means completely carries the image. Strong Keep Until Better Image Suggested.

Definitely quality upgrade in 9. We shouldn't only have half of Piett's face.

Sure, the mortality rate may be a little high, but at least Vader's generous when it comes to promotions.

I lean very slightly toward the Duck's crop. As for the caption, maybe "It's murder getting a promotion around here."

I'm good with Duck's.

I prefer the movie quote as caption.

I like 15, but the caption parroting the trope name is not good for me.

I like Duck's version.

So far, leans towards a quality upgrade plus a caption to be decided by crowner, the way I see it. I'd wait a bit for more discussion on the caption, though.

Personally I'm not sure what caption I prefer. The current is a good one, and I think linking to Trope Namer is good enough to avoid it being too much just repeating the trope name.

I know its the Trope Namer and all, but is that scene actually an example? Command does not fall to Piett because his superiors are all "dead, indisposed, or unavailable", he is being given an explicit Field Promotion by Darth Vader.

The scene is his predecessor being You Have Failed Me-ed.
