Heck, I'll probably hate the movie - I just want to go see it to see what kind of righteous indignation can be brought to the fore against me. That this might be a "righteous cause" only makes it more exciting.

Indignation? Nope. Not from me. Mildish pity, probably. More at the waste of money than anything else.

Well, you can always use Pirate Bay rent the DVD.

It would be on the "can't be arsed even to pirate it" list next to Twilight, Avatar, Titanic, Battlefield Earth, Salo, any torture porn film you care to mention and most books Stephen King did since the last Dark Tower doorstopper. tongue

I have to wonder if this'll get an Axel Braun parody...

[up][up]At least, Salo made some good points which still ring true nowadays (besides, it's part of The Criterion Collection). And, while still being very gross, it's well shot and has interesting locations/sets.

I keep hearing that about Salo but everything about the film makes my skin crawl. I tried reading its inspiration, "100 Days of Sodom", but it was too much for me. And I've read Stephen King's "Pet Sematary" for pity's sake.

For me Avatar isn't a masterpiece of cinema but its by no means terrible, it offers a lot of significance as a film for its production values, effects, and impact on film much like Titanic.

I won't watch Titanic for personal reasons that I'm not prepared to go into on an open forum. I won't watch Avatar because I have already seen Braveheart and Pocahontas. tongue

[up] You forgot Dances with Wolves.

Also, Salo / The 120 Days Of Sodom is pedo trash.

Oh yeah, Kevin's Gate. tongue I did forget this one:

One of my favourite movies, funnily enough. It ranks with JFK and Field of Dreams as Costner's best film.

The subject of this thread is hardly likely to do the same. [lol]

True. However, the acting is likely to be better than Costner's.

YMMV, of course, but I think his acting style fitted all three of those movies. It's hard to see anyone else as either Dunbar, Garrison or Kinsella (the heroes of all three films in order - my memory is good at times) and I was perfectly happy to watch him do his work.

He isn't as technically good an actor as Daniel Day Lewis, Al Pacino or Christopher Walken are, but he doesn't have to be.

Also, Salo / The 120 Days of Sodom is pedo trash.

They are teens, not children.

[up] Teens as young as 12. That qualifies as pedo, in my book.

[up][up] Honestly, I liked him in The Postman. But lost all my faith in him in The Untouchables. Dude can't emote to safe his life./topic.

The 120 Days of Sodom

I'm honestly shocked the pages for the novel and movie still stand in current TV Tropes. I've seen far tamer material being kicked out.

[up]In spite of all the nasty things, it's actually arty and has a point to make.

Edit. I think we're going a bit off-topic.

Don't use "get off" when talking about a movie like this.

Of course, don't you know anything about ALCHEMY?!- Twin clones of Ivan the Great

So is this gonna be one of those movie that's not quite a porno but should be?

Or is it one of those stupid films like Sex Tape that's based off a, well, a sex tape, but the film's much advertised nudity is a couple seconds of ass, and a nipple that is basically a Freeze-Frame Bonus. Fuck that movie.
