I prefer the one from the Mousetrap, but both of them are good.

Watchmen (Edward Blake's funeral): [1] [2] [3] ... could probably capture a better image from source, but I won't be able to do that until next week.

...though it'd be cool to have a page image that explains the trope (symbology of weather for death) instead of just being an example of a rainy funeral, which is better than nothing but kind of lame.

I think this is one of the few times a compilation is indicated. So, perhaps something along the lines of having a few images of it raining during funerals; along with the caption:

"On this day, even the heavens weep."

Maybe raining over something dead rather than a funeral specifically would work.

Showing a bunch of examples in a collage isn't better than showing one example in a good single image, IMO.

Unless a collage is truly, absolutely necessary, all it does is confuse the image and make it more busy than it needs to be. This is one of those cases where it is not needed.

I think a collage helps because part of the trope is its ubiquity. That it's nigh universal and the norm, rather than simply something that can happen or one of a range of options.

Hm, interesting point. It should be a lot of examples then, like at least 16, maybe 20 or 25. Can't capture right now but I have some of the sources in the example list on that article.

Any one shot with rain at a funeral would be better than a collage.

I don't think the always part is necessary for the trope, considering there's also It's Always Sunny at Funerals. Furthermore, this trope specifically includes everything except "the bright, shiny daylight." The trope is more about what the symbolism of the weather represents.

I don't see what a collage would bring that a single image can't.
