[up] I would imagine it was probably riled up good before being put in. Plus, in the manga it looks like there wasn't just a blindfold over his head but tape as well. So it wouldn't have an obvious exit and generally with torture methods involving animals they do something to make the animal want to burrow further into the person (applying heat, starving the animal, ect). Or maybe the author just didn't realize that particular Centipede isn't that bad compared to other species.

So, well, that episode would've made a good penultimate episode, but it's a pretty bad finale.

Really, they could've finished the arc with just one more episode, but nope, we devote the entire last episode to Kaneki and Yamori, and give absolutely no sign of what happens to anyone else.

[up] That was my feeling as well. It needed one more episode to wrap things up, as I honestly expected they would end the series like the arc ended in the manga. It feels weird cutting it off without finishing the various battles going on, or having Kaneki actually escape.

I expected Kaneki's group and Anteiku to go their separate ways, and a last minute introduction of Akira.

Aw, not the anime too?

...yup.

Expect an OVA announcement.

[up] I would assume there will be an OVA I guess?

But yeah, having the entire episode be Kaneki being tortured felt like a bit much. Why do you want to show THAT much scenes that have giant censor bar anyway.

Honestly, they could have trimmed the junk at the beginning before Kaneki met Anteiku and that would have helped. There was bit to much angst there. (having to go through that part again is probalby the main thing putting me off starting the manga right now).

Forget an OVA, I demand a continuation of the manga. (I will continue to be a delusional holder out of hope and believe the reason the author is being so mum is because there is something in the works, hence asking people to wait for an announcement.)

Fun with symbolism! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hanakotoba

The white flowers are either Carnations or Camellias, I'm not entirely sure. Camellias seem to fit better, meaning Longing or Waiting. If they're Carnations, then the Western meaning fits — Innocence and pure love.

The red flowers are Spider Lilies, which are associated with the Dead. They symbolize Abandonment, loss, or when two people will never meet again.

Episode 12: The Kentrospection: The Difference Between Being Nice and Being a Doormat.

  • Wait. This is how the anime ends? In the middle of a gang war? Darn, there are some fights I wanted to see!
  • Oh well, at least Yamori paid what he owed, that    prick.
  • Since I've heard that the manga's over, I guess it's a good time to start from scratch...?

[up] Indeed it is. Go forth and enjoy the suffering, as well as all the stuff the anime left out.

Apparently there will be a second season.

This isn't the first time Chinese legal streams gets sequel information before any of the Japanese authority release anything. But I still have doubts.

A second season of anime would be nice, but what we really need is a Part 2 for the manga. (My little fangirl heart, it will go o-....not give up.)

Episode 10: Man, this anime is pretty good, but it kind of has a problem with having ridiculous gay stereotypes as villains.

Yeah, they're both kind of....beyond camp.

Still like 100 chapters behind on the manga so I can't visit this thread too often cos spoilers!

But episode 12: Was wondering why Kaneki couldn't manage to stab Steroid Psychopath Guy with his kagune when he was busy ranting. The white hair was way too sudden. Literally the shot before it turned white in real life, we saw him from the side and it was still black. Hair doesn't work that way, etc. New Kaneki isn't anything at all like Old Kaneki; I miss Old Kaneki and hope we still see glimpses of him, and he isn't a completely different character for Reasons.

I did like the mind trips though.

Loves feel-good animation a whole lot.

[up]Yamori made a fatal mistake there, he did not inject Kaneki with the kagune-prevention serum before he tried to eat him so this gave Kaneki enough time to get out of his restraints and incapacitate him.

[up][up]It seemed to be implied that Tsukiyima was interested in Touka in the past (His comment on seeing such strength in her when she was 14 and how she calls him a creepy bastard) so his stereotype could probably be more Depraved Bisexual mixed with Does This Remind You of Anything??

I have no argument to defend Nico though, it does not help that he was rather....excited when Yamori tore out his guts when he was on one of his torture sprees.

[up] Yeah, Tsukiyama seems to be very equal opportunity in who he becomes interested in. As long as there's something about them that catches his fancy (beautiful eyes, an intriguing scent, ect) whether they are male or female seems meaningless.

Nico, on the other hand, is definitely all kinds of stereotypes to be sure. (And yet, at the same time, he gets to Pet the Dog in the treatment of the mother and child Yamori killed.)

I've been going back to completely reread the series, seeing what little stuff I can pick up on with a second reading.

I confess, I'm still holding out hope for a sequel and if so, I think the theories on Amon really are getting a ton of foreshadowing. When he first meets Kaneki, his right eye is covered in a bandage so both are wearing an eye-patch, essentially. We later see that Eto's Ghoul eye is the right one.

Man, I'd forgotten just how different the manga is, how much got cut out all along. And all the little extra comics that seem like parodies at first, but most are actually cute extra scenes that are canon.

[up]Speaking of cute scenes, Touka running through possible reactions when she finally managed to find Kaneki again after the Kanou arc was really cute.

I am wondering if Kaneki actually did die what Touka's reaction might be. It's pretty obvious she has some feelings (All of that Ship Tease) for Kaneki.....so possible Despair Event Horizon if that where to happen?

Finished the anime. It's like every ghoul had a tailed beast inside him-her.

I cannot say I approve of how they did not resolve the cliffhanger in the second to the last episode. Made me not want to read the manga and just look up spoilers.

[up] Welcome to suffering.

But seriously, well worth picking up the manga. The anime either completely left out or changed a huge amount of stuff. (It rushes through like.....66 chapters of the manga.)
