Sign-ups are always open. PM me if you post a sign-up or have a question as I may forget to check this thread.

Interest Check for a Cyberpunk RP about Magical Girls that are really Anthropomorphic Personification's of elements from the Period Table, like Gold, Silver, Iron, Neon, etc.

This would pretty much be all Magical Girls, and Magical Girl Villains that we would be playing, exclusively.

What do you guys think?

The RP's world will pretty much be developed by all of us as we discuss and play in it. But I can say it takes place on an alternate sort of world to Earth that combines the technology of a cyberpunk future, with magical creatures and fantasy creatures.

Element repeats are not allowed. Once someone takes an element, no one else can have that Element. In terms of power, it will be around a Super Weight of 3. Think of series like Black Rock Shooter as inspiration. For our purposes, Oxygen, Hydrogen, and Carbon are off limits.

The Elemental Girls aren't really normal human girls. They were born through magical or scientific means and given sentience. Some of them are used for experimentation or science, some of them broke free and do their own thing.

The origin of the Elemental Girls is that they are actually pure magical spirits, essences if you want to call them that. Most of the periodic elements of the universe are the natural materials that things are made of, and the magical energy of the universe was so strong that it gave shape to females who have the essense of that element within them. The Governing Bodies that be have gone through war after war in a desire to control these powerful girls, and most of them are usually looked upon to protect the world from magical and scientific threats such as monsters.

The Cyberpunk element of the RP will come from futuristic setting that will deal with politics and government in a bustling cityscape, as well as access to a lot of technology such as advanced weapons, computers, and A.I. There will also be a strong element of cybernetics in the RP.

Here have a character sheet:

  • Name: While each girl is known by their scientific name, most of them like to give themselves a name.
  • Age: What age does your girl appear to be? Her actual age is pretty much irrelevant.
  • Element:
  • Personality: If your girl has a different personality when she is magically transformed, describe both.
  • Appearance: Most, if not all the girls look human, but can have some different features such as a strange skin color, long elf ears, etc.
  • Magical Appearance: Describe how the girl changes after going through a magical transformation. This usually includes changes to hair color, eye color, height, bust-size, voice, etc. Also describe what their magical girl outfit looks like. They tend to be futuristic armors. The costume is created from the girl's psyche.
  • Power(s): What creative ways does your girl use her element in battle? Including things like shapeshifting, conjuring, ranged attacks, etc. Keep in mind what state the element usually comes in, as this has to be scientifically accurate. There are certain things an element that is a gas wouldn't be able to do that an element that is typically solid or liquid can do.
  • Weapon: Each girl has access to a futuristic and elaborate weapon created from the psyche that imbues the power of their element. Give it a name and describe it here.
  • Cybernetic Enhancements: Most people in this setting like to give themselves enhancements that give them abilities such as flight, protection, weapons as a part of their body, robotic limbs, HU Ds in their vision, etc. If your girl has any, list them here. They are expensive though, so if you girl lives in poverty, she would probably only be able to have bootleg faulty enhancements.
  • Backstory: After your girl achieved sentience in the world, what was her life like? Was she used as a weapon in a war? A science experiment? Did she get adopted into a regular family? Open up a restaurant?

Accepted Characters: Council

  • The Guiding Light, Neon
  • The Lustrous Sister, Silver
  • The Shining Star, Gold
  • The Perky Powerhouse, Platinum
  • The Dynamic Titan, Titanium
  • The Flying Warrior, Beryllium

  • The Liquid Knight, Osmium
  • The Iron Maiden, Iron
  • The Stalwart Captain, Cobalt
  • The Infamous Dominatrix, Caesium

It sounds really cool, I'm interested in a science/magic fusion like this.

Yay, I'm glad! The players would pretty much choose an element, create a character based around that. She would have the ability to use a magical girl transformation and control that element.

What is their exact nature and origin then? In addition, are element repeats allowed and exactly how powerful can they be? Furthermore, I would like to know how it qualifies as cyberpunk.

Does having cybernetics interfere with their powers? In addition, is there an in-universe reason they're girls and not boys or something blatantly not human? Furthermore, since they're not normal humans how human are they? Oh, and I was kind of considering my character to be a clone of an actual human. So would that work?

Besides that, since you mentioned they could be born through scientific means could the girl in question actually be a gynoid (the "female android")? In addition, in comparison to the magi how do other magical being work? Would like to propose Dopplegangers being shape-shifting shadow creatures that replace missing or dead people.

To answer all your questions in order:

Yes, having cybernetics would enhance or interfere with their powers. That really depends on what their cybernetics are, and how they use their powers.

There is no in-universe reason for why they are female. It's just supposed to be a magical girl RP. If I had to think of one off the top of my head, I would say that the Goddess of the universe created them in her image, so they are always female, or at least very feminine-looking tongue.

They are human enough to look like normal humans, or look elven. They don't age, but they have other bodily functions like the need to eat and sleep, and they bleed and feel pain. If they die, they are reborn in a new body at a random time, with all their past memories. Sometimes with a new personality.

The only way to completely kill an Elemental Girl would be to remove all traces of that element in the universe, then the girl will die forever.

If you wanted to make your character a clone of a human, I suppose that would work by saying that the magical energy that was going to be formed to create the girl was intentionally imprinted on the human by whoever was doing the cloning.

And yes, they can be a Gynoid.

Other magical beings work much like they do in common tropes. There is mana, monsters, etc. But they don't have magic for controlling things like fire and water and all that. Magic is mostly used for things like levitation, transformation, speed, strength, illusions, etc.

What about artificial elements or ones that are much more likely to be made than occur naturally? So is it therefore possible to create a completely brand new magi or repeatedly kill & remake existing ones? Though I'm going to guess, for a number of reasons, that magi can't produce (half human hybrid) children whether that be test tube babies or not. Realistically making an army of super soldiers would be any group's first idea upon access to superhuman freaks, and even if the children could access the same powers it probably won't end well for the universe (because of what the one element rule and presence of their element to exist imply).

Can humans create Humonculi and how would they manage that? In addition how advanced are A.I.s and robots in general? Oh, and I assume they either draw strength from their element or use some of it to create/heal their bodies. I would also like to know if a magi could be used as a power source or have their powers forcibly weaponized. Sounds easier for a group to stick them in a Wave Motion Gun or Kill Sat than hope the being of mass destruction doesn't betray or try to kill them.

[up][up] Neon was probably gonna be one of my choices! Can't wait to see your character sheet.

[up] You can't just make a new one. They are still created from the magical essence. You would have to get the magical essence, that is to say, collect enough raw magical energy, put it in an artificial body and then it would eventually become the element. And yeah, they can't have babies. AI is advanced enough to have personality. And if a group of people had enough firepower then yeah, they could probably capture an Elemental Girl and forcibly use her as a weapon. In fact, I already have a character or two that will be used for that exact purpose.

Oh, and all the Girls call each other "Sisters", despite wildly different personalities, ideals, appearances, etc. They are born randomly in the world, but every girl feels it when a new one is born or dies.

There is a council of them led by Carbon, Oxygen, and Hydrogen that basically has a set of rules that they feel the girls should abide by, and they oversee matters of politics and threats that effect them all. They send out Elemental Girls to find new ones that are born and basically initiate them into the world.

Could a Elemental Girl only partially manifest in the world, such as something actively preventing her from materializing or something capturing/siphoning the rest of her essence? Thus, since they can be used to power weapon could a Elemental Girl have her essence powering suits or transformation trinkets so multiple humans could use a fraction of her power? In addition, would anything happen to someone's biology if a Elemental Girl materializes through/possesses their body?

[up][up]Either the essence is in a pure form, not tied to a specific element, or it is a materialized girl. To use her power, they would have to capture the girl and continually suck it out of her, using her as a power source. And nothing would happen to a person if they materialized through their body. Doesn't really do anything

Okay, so right now I'm kind of in a bidding war between Nitrogen, Gold, and Uranium. Not sure which I'm gonna use. Nitrogen is very versatile but gold has desirable physical qualities (especially for the bling-blangiest Razor Wire), and uranium has dat radiation.

Hmmmm... if I chose nitrogen, would forcing a chemical reaction with oxygen to create nitroglycerin, nitrogen triiodide or other nitrogen/ammonia based explosives be possible?
