Enter did a whole series on previous shows before like Family Guy and Spongebob so I had expected him to start another. ...but Wayside? Is that really deserving of this? Was he this much of a fan of the books? The show isn't HORRIBLE but it's just bland.
Which was largely Enter's point. It wasn't so much a big ragefest as Enter dissecting how they went from a really creative book series to a highly stock TV series.
The Crystal Caverns A bird's gotta sing.Yeah, it's like the movie adaptation of World War Z. On its own it's a decent, bog-standard action flick, but it's insulting that they turned such excellent and unique source material into something so rote and cliche.
I really enjoyed the books when I was kid. I remember being a fifth grader in 1997-1998 and secretly reading the first book in class instead of paying attention to the teacher (and, yes, I did end up paying for that). Like Enter, I grew up with the version illustrated by Julie Brinckloe and seeing those old drawings again for the first time in nearly 20 years really brought back some old childhood memories.
I've never seen the "Wayside" cartoon but it looks really inferior to the books. Part of the appeal of the books to me was the large cast of diverse characters and the fact that only about half of them ended up being in the cartoon is disappointing. I guess I understand why they did it but I've seen shows that have successfully pulled off having 30 or so recurring characters so I don't see why they couldn't have done it here. It's not like all the characters had to have a role or speaking part in every episode.
I didn't read the books myself, but usually saw the old cover page that was around. I do have to say I agree with Mr. Enter on how instead of adhering to the spirit of the original books they just made it into a Cliché Storm that has many tropes you've seen from other cartoons.
That bit about "What if The Last Airbender was a good movie" is a really nice point. The idea that Korra got Screwed by the Network because of how bad The Last Airbender was isn't exactly a great theory, but I'm sure that it at least partially contributed to it.
In other news, Mr. Enter appears to be losing subscribers every time he uploads a video. He lost over 400 subscribers over the Wayside review. He did get a few of them back, though. What could it be?

It might be because of Youtube's subscriber glitch.
You know, I have to wonder why Pit is obsessed with this site. It’s gonna ruin his life!I got to interview Max Brooks for a grad school project a couple years ago. He called World War Z "a pretty good zombie movie that happened to share a title with something I wrote".
I love to learn, I love to yearn, and most of all... I love to make money.Just wondering, what do Family Guy fans think of Mr. Enter? I know he's pretty infamous in the Spongebob fandom (even though he mostly picks on universally disliked episodes, many fans don't like the fact that he popularized the phrases "Patrick's a Prick" and "Squidward Torture Porn").
Family Guy has a fandom?
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?
It still does.
That sounds dumb.

Some people can have bad judgement in entertainment.
Sounds like it.
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?In my opinion, there is a good strong reason why it has gotten a strong hate base due to the fact that it's sacrificed good storytelling and jokes for raunchy immature shock value with irredeemable characters.
Wow, going into Fan Hater territory. Really guys?

Have you any dreams you'd like to sell? That's your opinion. Saying that as if its fact is no better then the "edgelords" that like the show.

Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?Okay, fair enough, that makes a good point. I was being a bit stronger than I should have. Apologies.
