To be quick, this is an alternate universe and will not have any of the named characters from the franchise (I'm bad at writing other people's characters right). Concepts will show up, but not necessarily events. Finally, the plot is mainly about the tension/violence between Humans and Conduits. Player characters will be newly awakened Conduits (for a number of reasons), and naturally awakened Conduits would fall under one group for their powers (Smoke, Masonry, Electric, etc) while unnaturally awakened may have more... Unusual abilities or natures (being like David would be one of the more worst outcomes).

Regarding abilities there are three ways to improve them: Practice (such as experimenting or simply using them), Stunts (performing a stunt enough unlocks a new ability or effect, like Punch Blast or instant kill/subdue headshots), and Ray (absorbing ray field radiation from shards or cores, making easy upgrades but are rare as a tradeoff). Only Conduits like Delsin can use shard energy for any upgrades, everyone else would just get improved storage capacity.

For how you can apply your powers at the beginning, you get the Energy Manipulate group (basically Drain, power enhanced attacks like Delsin's chain or Cole's AMP, healing, restraints, etc) and then one of the following: Bolt (long fast and efficient but weak projectiles), Blasts (wide pushing force), Grenade (explosives of various effects), Rocket (Powerful but costly and slow projectiles), Transformation (Includes Dashes and super modes among others, though also includes constructs like wings or armor), and Miscellaneous (stuff like Ice Launch, Kinetic Pulse, Lighting Tether/Hook, Polarity Wall, Gigawatt Blades, etc).

The other groups can be obtained from refining Energy Manipulate. The exact development of your powers depend firstly on your personality and secondly your Karma. While Good Karma results in more precision and focus with Evil being more violent/destructive/sadistic, it doesn't automatically change the core nature of your personality. So an Evil pacifist won't start causing wanton destruction, and a lethally violent Good Conduit would still kill people. Finally, I'll write up later some NP Cs. Now here is the application format.

  • Name:
  • Type: (Natural or Unnatural for Prime Conduits, and only unnatural ones have "problems")
  • Element: (what you manipulate, and natural Electrics do not have Cole's problems)
  • Style: (their personality and how they would fight)
  • Belongings: (unlimited as long as it makes sense for your character)
  • Backstory: (it is 2014 and unless you convince me otherwise you can only recently discover your Conduit nature)

How so? Anyways Thrusters would go under Energy Manipulate, and include the chosen group under Style. Starting off you only have Drain, Thruster, Weapon Imbuing, Drop and a basic application of your chosen group. You'll quickly pick up Radar Sense (detecting sources of your element), restraints and healing others with little effort. Basically every other move would be made by you, though I want people to ask first before getting a new move or upgrade.

  • Name: Connor Streiss
  • Type: Natural
  • Element: Vacuum
  • Style: Connor is a rather immature, impulsive and easily excited young guy, mostly caused by his childhood. This causes him to have a raw, Unskilled, but Strong fighting style that prioritizes striking out and ridding him and people he considers close to him of threats. His fighting style mostly emphasizes using his power to absorb energy from things and then shoot it out in wide bursts and basically, in any way that causes "inarticulate damage". He is also very protective of his siblings, and has a personality that essentially boils down to "wishes he had power, is starting become smug now that he has it"...though this is not all there is to his story.
  • Belongings: a lighter, a backpack with some food in it, a necklace with a family picture in it. Oddly, it seems the father is obscured by a lot of ink.
  • Backstory: Connor comes from a rather unorthodox family - moderately well off, but he has three siblings, and his mother divorced his father for odd reasons not three years ago, when he was fifteen, and he really, really detests his father - it is inferred abuse was involved. His My Beloved Smother preferred to keep him cloistered and home schooled, out of fear she would "lose him to that man." His siblings, mostly older than him, are vastly more independent than he is, all of them trying to obtain work.

Exactly what do you mean by Pure Energy? Anyways, I assume you'll be starting out with Blasts then. In addition, I would say Conduits became public knowledge four years ago but there were no Ray Spheres going off. However I would say the number of active Conduits significantly increased over these four years. Oh, and is his father a Conduit?

Yeah, Pure Energy in the vein of Energy Absorption - he needs steady sources of energy at first, just as his baseline ability. He then starts to generate more himself, as well as passively taking in such sources as solar and wind energy, much later.

His father...I was thinking of making the father a Conduit, yes.

Then Pure Energy won't work. In addition, I would like to say Darkness (shadows are technically a different thing) is a no-go. Don't want to deal with whatever happens in a room devoid of light and darkness (the absence of light).

What? I actually like the dad being a Conduit. You have to change your element to something more specific. In addition general rule: The more common/available an element is (like Heat or Water) the more effort has to be put into it to develop increasingly complex moves.

Things that cause high speed wind flow.

Like air vents and other such machines, where air and wind flow through at high speeds.

Then acceptable, and now I want to know more about what he thinks of Conduits before and after discovering his powers. Important to note, there's people afraid or racist(?) enough to try to kill people they even think are Conduits. Then general wackoos who'll claim their viticims are Conduits to get away with murder... On the other hand, there's a Conduits Rights League. Mixed and varied opinions really. In general many people (even Conduits) would have misconceptions of how they work and their origins.

Throwing my interest in real quick. I'll make a character when I get the chance. I know I want my OC's element to be plants, but if the setting is too urban I may have to change that.

Any element will work actually, and I even had a Plant Conduit whose rather energy efficient to make up for the lack of nature at her disposal.

Ooh, I never thought of it that way. Even if I'm limited in actual fire power, I wouldn't burn through my powers. I like it, makes for an interesting challenge.

Ready to rock.

  • Name: Brent Hedera
  • Age: 23
  • Type: Natural
  • Element: Plant
  • Style: Brent is playful and outgoing; with a brain that is running a mile a minute. His desire for entertainment often manifests itself in the form of jokes and pranks. When his conduit powers came into bloom, Brent had to get creative using a fairly rare element in the urban jungle. As a result, he developed a disruptive and indirect style, primarily meant to trap, trip, trick, or otherwise annoy his foes.
  • Belongings: Brent tries to travel fairly light. His backpack usually has an apple, an orange, and a few strawberries. He also has a basic cell phone for emergencies, and a notebook and pencil for whatever he may need them for.
  • Appearance: The look Brent keeps is a rather low key one, allowing him to blend in with a crowd until he is ready to make a show. His dark hair is buzzed just long enough to allow him to comb it back, and his brown eyes match his hair color. Normally, his outfit is just a T-shirt with a long sleeve shirt worn open over it, and khaki cargo pants. There aren't many accessories he wears, aside from the chain on his wallet.
  • Backstory: Brent was raised an only child, as such, most of his time was spent alone. When he did get to spend time with people, he tried to keep it as upbeat and entertaining as possible. He would often find ways to trick people, constantly trying to get a reaction to laugh at. As a result, he gained a bit of a reputation as an immature kid, even as he started to grow into adulthood. Whenever he had the chance, he would be outside, wandering the streets looking for something fun to do. One day, he saw a few doing some entertaining running and jumping, which he would later learn was parkour. Brent took it up as something of a hobby, to help him wander around. Eventually, he discovered that he was able to use his various jokes and tricks to make a basic living as a street performer. Not long after he started really finding his niche, the conduits appeared. At first he didn't think too much of them, as he knew to leave well enough alone, but when he discovered his own abilities, he became terrified for a moment. Initially, he tried to hide away from himself, until he slowly came to accept the fact that he was a conduit. Now, he is looking to see what all he can do with his powers.

Well, is there a particular group (like Grenade or Miscellaneous) that you would put his offensive abilities under? In addition, how many seeds and fruits would you say he has?

I was thinking about grenade. Just charge up a fruit, throw it, and watch as a giant tree or a mountain of vines pop up. As for an actual count, i'm still rolling the numbers around in my head. I know I don't want to carry random seeds, just the fruits that have seeds in them. I'll iron that out before I finish my app.

Well, with just Energy Manipulate it isn't too hard to develop Charge (basically reverse Drain) which does exactly as it implies: Charging a drainable source with power. Hmm... I'll be willing to let you start off with that Grenade move without having that group as your starter. It won't be hard for Brent to develop Grenades so you're better off choosing Miscellaneous (much harder to develop) so you can a Vine Wall and so on.

His exact age would be nice to know, and I assume he's still a street performer? In addition, since Conduits hit the public eye four years ago and the fact there's high tensions between Humans & Conduits has any of that affected him before discovering his powers? Oh and more physical description would be nice.

Adding to the world building are we? I like it! I'll add where I need to. I know Brent is 21 years of age. As for the conduit discovery, did he also discover his powers four years back or could he have gotten them later?
