Fate/liner phantasm - Dorm B-1

Over forty years ago, there was a bloody battle between Masters and Servants off the coast of the United States. It started in the City of Archwood then expanded to the City of Careen. The island was nearly destroyed by an ensuing confrontation between powerful Servants. A Noble Phantasm of somekind plowed through the land, mutually destroying themselves and the enemy they were fighting. A little time after that, Masters started appearing in Careen City. From that there were two monsters that were fought and defeated. The 'Beasts' they were called.

Two of them that represented the monster of Revelations. Thanks to the sacrifices of those brave few that stood against it, the world is as it is today.

However, it didn't stop the direction of the world. Even without the Grail War and the Beasts, the world was slowly going into decline. The world's life is vanishing. It's getting harder to grow food, harder to live in the increasingly harsh conditions that the world offers. Though there is believed to be a way to save it - by utilizing the 'Mass Summoning System' pioneered in the Archwood Holy Grail, maybe there is a way to save it? Perhaps the use of the Holy Grail?...

We each hold our own lives in our hands, our own sacrifices that mark who we are and what we will become. What is of the future? Only you can decide that. Present this to ferrymen going to Armistice Isle and you will be given an oppurtunity to participate in a new generation — in the Elysium Holy Grail War. What will you sacrifice? What will you gain? If you accept this, you will be tested.

This is the 'ribbon' that others can present to participate in the Holy Grail War. They will be allowed to live on the island accomodated, being able to live in luxury for as long as they last in the war. Some poor souls grabbed the slip, trying to escape the hard life they live on the mainland to join the battle. Some don't know what they're getting themselves into, some are just walking headlong into a suicide mission.

It's a day after the arrival of the Masters and the summoning of their Servants. Now the group that may change the tide — that can fight on — is room 1 of Dorm-B. A particular group of eight that seem to have a rust free future ahead of them.

Dorm B-1 —- Balcony

"Ah, the horizon is really something. Nothing like on the back of a Hippogriff, but still really cool!" the Paladin of Charlemagne, Astolfo, leaned against the bars while fully clothed in his armor. His cape fluttered in the sea-breeze coming off the ocean. Afterward he looked down to see how far the drop was.

"That'd probably hurt. A lot." he chuckled with the mental image while pulling himself up from the bars. The balcony was located just outside of their room.

Apparently there are different types of rooms judging on your placement in the building (naturally). Some are slightly bigger than others, but it's mostly uniform sans the balcony addition. Rider looked back into the room by opening the sliding door to see what everyone else was up to.

Kirisaki, Fuyuko, Master of Rider

Fuyuko met up with Rider as he was coming back in from the balcony. "Rider. That 30 seconds you spent on the balcony would be better spent cooking me up some breakfast." As she talked, the woman had her shoulder pressing a phone onto her ear, a laptop in one hand and a second phone in the other.

Within a moment of ending that little statement with Astolfo, she began talking to another business partner on the other end of the line. She was also apparantly looking through her company's shareholder presentation on the laptop while updating her subordinates of their short-term goals and objectives on her phone. "If you don't have the files in for me by Monday, I will have your ass locked in a dungeon until you have them done. Am I clear?" Apparantly, the man was clear, as Fuyuko hung up and dropped the phone onto the table, sitting down on a chair and freeing up her hands to type something up on the laptop.

"Rider, I entered this Grail War because I have certain goals. However, my work on the business end does not stop just because I am in the middle of a magical war, somewhere a thousand miles from home. Time is not money. You can't buy time with money. My time is infinitely more important so we will make sure not to waste it, alright? Now, if you hurry up with my breakfast, I can send you to scout out the servants and masters in relative leisure until we begin our little mission so I waste thousands of dollars instead of millions. Got it?"

Yuu

"Hyah!"

With a final resolute punch sent in the direction of the newly risen star, Yuu lets her accelerated breathing slows, shaking her glossy hair to get rid of the sweat. To reach true strength, her master taught her, she must greet the sun with ten thousand punches every morning. She smile and whisper a word of thanks to the celestial body who bears witness to her routine without fail.

It is truly fortuitous that she has the opportunity of competing in the Grail War. Sure, she has read of it well –but to be one of the participants! This opportunity to improve herself is nothing short of a miracle bestowed by the heavens.

Suddenly aware that her ruckus may wake her Servant – how unused she is to the concept! – she meekly pokes her head back into her room. She slept the entire yesterday away, and haven’t had the opportunity to get to know the man(?) who would be her companion for the war yet. Apparently he’s(?) a deeply religious person.

Daniel - Dorm B-1 Kitchen

Daniel stood in the kitchen, happily setting the tea kettle to boil. Beside him on the counter were four trays. On each tray rested a teapot, a sugar bowl, a small cup of honey, and four teacups.

Daniel had woken up early that morning so as to be extra prepared for the inevitable meeting that would be held between the partnerships. First impressions were always important, so Daniel thought to make tea for everyone. While it may not seem like much, a little tea in the morning helps to go about the day a little more chipper than without it. Of course, providing enough tea and teacups for sixteen people was not easy, so Daniel enlisted the help of his Servant.

"Lancer, pass me a teaspoon, if you please." Daniel asked, gesturing to a drawer.

Hannibal — Dorm B-1 kitchen

“There you go,” someone said in an alto voice, passing Daniel a teaspoon. Were he to look at that someone, he'd see a Servant — who else would wear a segmented black dress over a white leotard and a neck-tie that would not be out of place in Victorian England and have knee-length black hair? — who was definitely not Lancer. She was currently busy preparing some sort of stew; that much could be gathered from the vegetables and beef lying on a cutting board near her.
“I assume you are one of the Masters?” she asked while chopping carrots.

"Ah, merci beaucoup." Daniel replied kindly as he accepted the spoon, accidentally slipping into French due to the mild surprise at the appearance of this new Servant. Yet however much surprise he felt, the smile on his face hid it too well.

"And you would be correct. I am Daniel Freçalonne, Master of Lancer." With his introduction, Daniel gave a polite half bow. "Pardon my assumptions, but would you happen to be a Servant then?"

Master of Archer

A red haired woman in a pinstripe suit sat at the table in the common room. She was idly smoking a cigar while reading over some information on a laptop. The other day she took a quick inventory of her allies. She didn't like working with mages, but perhaps with the marvels of the modern world at their disposal they could prove to be a formidable team.

A smirk flashed on her face.

He Servant was unlike any other seen before.

"Archer"

Within his Master's room sat what appeared to be a young spry man in a cloak of moss reading a book. At least that's what he looked like to most. His Master knew the difference though. The Poet hadn't thought much about his Master, or the fact that he was reborn in a century different from his own. The Servant took a sip of his tea and continued reading his book.

"A reasonable assumption, one that I too would make, though we must be careful to separate what we assume from what is true," said another woman who seemingly snuck in out of nowhere behind Daniel, also clearly not Lancer. She was Chinese and looked to be in her late twenties and had red hair, so either a servant or an immigrant master.

In her hands was a wok, which she held as she turned on one of the burners on the range, and spent the briefest moment looking at the gas-fueled flame. She placed the wok on the flaming burner, and started to steal Hannibal's unchopped carrots. "As we will be sharing these accommodations, we must share our resources as well."

"Indeed we must," a rich, rumbling baritone concurred from the kitchen threshold.

Rather than anyone previously introduced, however, this new voice belonged to a certain Hero of Justice, the one who had many years ago taken on the name "Masayoshi Kamen". Already fully dressed and with his mask frozen in the same expression as ever, the ends of the fire-haired Master's sleeves were nevertheless in tatters, and his fingers and palms covered in bandages and small, angry red cuts.

The first person of the day in need of saving had cried out for aid in the predawn hours - earlier than the suited hero would have liked, perhaps, but justice waited for no man. More specifically, the citizen in need of help had been an old lady in town, and the problem in need of solving had been the safe return of her cat, which had doubtlessly climbed up a nearby tree to get at some bird or another and then forgotten how to get down. It was only after scaling the oak himself and reaching out to the feline that Masayoshi had realized it had been named "Scratches" for a reason, not to mention that he still hadn't quite mastered the art of appearing nonthreatening to animals.

"Good morning, comrades," he continued after a beat, as if sunrises like this were entirely ordinary, "I had intended to start breakfast myself, but I see you are all already well on your way there."

“You are correct, Daniel. I am the Servant Rider,” Hannibal said.
As soon as the Chinese-looking woman started stealing her carrots, Hannibal “mistakenly” let her knife land too close for comfort to the woman's hand a few times. “Don't do that,” she said absentmindedly. “There are enough of those for everyone and I've already chosen those particular ones.”

Daniel - Dorm B-1 Kitchen

Smiling to himself, Daniel was glad that their relationships had gotten off to such a good start in the morning, despite the eccentricities of some, but hopefully they can get over the carrot thing. As he thought this to himself and his smile grew wider, he could hear a familiar whistling coming from behind him, quiet at first, but gradually getting louder.

"Oh, that must be the kettle I put on. Please pardon me for one minute." Daniel excused himself from the company of the others as he turned around to take care of the kettle. He would let it cool for around a minute, and then pour it into the teapots, and they would be ready to go.

"Oh, my mistake, are there more in the refrigerator?" Sun Tzu said, putting the carrots back exactly where they had been. "How foolish of me. A thousand apologies, my young black orchid."

She went to the refrigerator and began to pull out carrots, as well as chicken and other vegetables.

Rider

"Ehehehe," Astolfo laughed at his Master, "I'm not much of a cook, but I could experiment if you wanted me to." he chose to ignore all that 'business' talk from his Master because it seemed pretty boring — though Fuyuko did seem like she'd make good on the threat to the poor bastard on the other end. Though she was going to let him scout at his own leisure? Freedom!

To be honest, he already head that. His Master wasn't cruel — at least to him, for the most part. As long as you didn't get on her bad side. "But okay, I'll make something grand! Give me JUST a bit." the paladin sprinted off into the kitchen, put on an apron and started cooking. The frier was put on Medium-High, some milk, eggs and batter went into a pan and Astolfo prepared the MOST... mediocre stack of pancakes known to man. He then raced back after a few minutes of the cookin' and set the food down in front of his Master. "Here you go, Astolfo Special! A meal filled with love!" It's too bad love wasn't a literal ingredient. Probably would have helped the taste.

“'Black orchid'?” muttered Rider. She finished chopping the ingredients, gave Astolfo a puzzled look, then slid the pile in front of her into the already half-full cauldron that was standing on the stove. She increased the flames' size a bit and turned to look at Sun Tzu.
“Black orchid?” she repeated. “Last time I checked I wasn't a flower.”

Into the kitchen, a man with tanned skin and dark hair wearing a simple undyed cloth toga, entered. Joining the slowly growing crowd of Servants and Masters, he slipped towards the pantry, pausing to nod respectfully at Dan. Upon reaching his destination, he rummaged around and emerged with a loaf of bread and a small block of cheese.

Once more he worked his way through the group, this time aiming for where several tables had been set up.

Saber

Said religious person was busy reading something in an armchair nearby the bed that upon closer inspection would be revealed as Christian scripture, if the small cross adorning the book in question was any indication.

Upon notifying his Master's presence, Turpin closed the book, letting her eyes rest on the girl to whom he was a Servant. "Lord's blessing be upon you, my liege." He spoke with a smile, her voice with a touch of masculinity... or was it his voice with a touch of femininity? "I take you rested well? Judging by your training, I'd take a wager that quite so.

Superstone

"I believe that 'tis just a poetic metaphor." Spoke a rather peculiar, older-looking gentleman busy brewing tea. "If I dare to say, quite fitting." With a small cup of tea the strange pink-haired man with a truly fabulous mustache turned to face both Riders. "But where are my manners? Please forgive me for not introducing myself first, my dear ladies. Metatron Superstone." Caster's Master tipped his hat, smiling. "My pleasure to be compatriots in this conflict."

Sun Tzu blinked curiously as a little pink-haired man ran into the kitchen without so much as a word, slapped together what could only by the loosest definition of the word be called a meal, and then ran out. She'd need to keep an eye on that one.

"I am lacking anything else with which to call you, and must therefore make due with other terms," she said to Hannibal. She looked over a man with pink hair- not the same one from before- and continued. "As for myself, Sue will suffice." She turned to the range, and threw the ingredients for stir fry into her wok.

Daniel - Dorm B-1 Kitchen

"That should be sufficient." Daniel remarked as he observed his handiwork. The four teapots, now with their lid closed, were filled with tea. Daniel had taken meticulous care to make sure that the water he poured in was not too much or too little. Every detail counts when it comes to making fine tea. That was what his father taught him, anyway.

"Lancer," Daniel called, turning to his Servant. Seeing that Lancer was preoccupied with his own snacks, Daniel gave a small chuckle. "could you please give me a hand with these trays when you are finished?" He asked, indicating the four trays lining the counter. "And please do not dally. We would not want the tea to get cold."

"Good morning, ma'am." An old man, strangely spry despite his appearance, lounged across the room from the businesswoman. "So, let's get down to business: do you know how to shoot a gun? As in, fully licensed and trained? I'd like to be able to distribute Noble Phantasms to whoever I can, if possible."

He crossed to a window and crouched there. He raised a hand, and conjured one of his two Noble Phantasms: a World War 2-era LMG, the essentialized crystalization of a mystery that was used the world over. One of many tools that caused the downfall of Heroic Spirits. "I'll get us some breakfast."

The gunsmith flicked a hand back over his shoulder, then braced his LMG's bipod on the windowsill, a perfectly practiced procedure to ensure stability and accuracy. As he opened fire on the various birds outside, a pair of Browning M1911 handguns appeared on the table, ready to use.

Yuu

"U-um. I did. I'm very sorry for the noises." Yuu said, punctuating her apology with a deep bow. "I'm Yuu Sakurame, your partner for this war." Being someone Master's make her antsy. Masters, people worthy of the title, have great bushy beard, deep wisdom they would share in times of crisis and an aura of respectability that eclipses those around them. Her words have a tint of gloominess to them, one of a person used to fate conspiring against them. "I may not be much of a Magus or a wuxia, and I'll be relying on you a lot. But-" She rises from her bow, and her clear eyes have a striking attribute to them.

Here, her entire stance changes. With each step, a fiery fighting spirit noticeably strip away at the meek girl poking her head in from the balcony, leaving behind nothing less than a warrior rallied for battle. Her entire self exuding confidence and, even if a mere facsimile, sharing the same determined look as the Heroic Spirits of old.

"I shall entrust myself to your sword, Saber. Believe in me and my fists." She looks down at her closed palm, then offer it in the old Earth's gesture of respect. "Together - We can, no, we will win this War."

Kirisaki, Fuyuko

"Thank you Rider. Go ahead and exchange pleasantries with our allies now. Try not to forget about gathering intelligence while you're at it." Fuyuko freed a hand to munch down on the breakfast with the provided plastic fork. It was terrible. Still, the quality of food was hardly something to be worried about when fates of a thousand employees were at stake. And she didn't expect Astolfo to be that much of a cook anyway. The meal provided nourishment, and for that, she was thankful to her servant.

While she continued working, an old man came to exchange greetings with her. She gave the briefest of nods to acknowledge his presence before he started conjuring guns from thin air. At that point, Fuyuko deemed it necessary to give the being her full attention.

"I was not aware of any heroic spirits who wielded firearms." Fuyuko picked one of the handguns up from thee table, giving it a cursory examination. "Still, I suppose these weapons are rather antiquated. Whether I am licensed is irrelevant and you'll likely figure out if I'm trained soon enough. I am grateful, but I have no need of these. Anyway, they are probably better suited for your capabilities." Fuyuko put the gun back on the table and looked at her hand. Hopefully, newly materialized weapons from Akasha were sterile. "Oh, and judging from the crowd in the kitchen, I doubt we have a need for more game to eat. Probably a good idea to put those guns away until we actually need them." She continued munching on her pancakes.

"Hey!" Archer snapped and stood from his shooting, flicking the safety off and keeping his finger off the trigger as he talked. "Not okay. Whether you're licensed is relevant. A firearm's a tool, only to be used if its user is justified and capable. Keep that in mind, because at any moment I can do this." He snapped his fingers, and the LMG, as well as the two pistols, vanished. "Am I understood? These aren't just guns empowered into Noble Phantasms, they are Noble Phantasms. It's important they're treated with the respect they deserve."

Aradia, Outside of the Dorms

"Hmm hmm... Lets see, lets see..." says the voice of a young woman on the grounds of the dorm, walking barefoot on the grass as she looked for flowers... waving her hand at one on the floor to have it nipped, float to right before her eyes before she says "No, no, not this one" And then float right back down to its cut stem, reattaching itself and staying there.

"Ohh that one is it" says the brown haired woman, her golden eyes nearly sparkling in delight as she catches sight of a particular violet flower growing in groups around the place. With a snap of her fingers, the petals left the flower, floating around her head "Hmmm... at this pace I think I'll need a basket"

Walking over to the nearest tree the witch says "Alright then, a little spell..." and then begins to float up towards a new branch, touching it with both hands before whispering something under her breath... and then she did a little motion, as if pulling onto the little branch... it was as if the wood was lengthening. She pulled and pulled, causing what was becoming a thin wooden cord to grow longer and longer... and then it started to knit and weave itself into a pretty basket. Satisfied with her work, she cut the branch connecting her new basket to the tree and allowed herself to float back to the ground, letting all the flowers herbs she had collected to dance on the wind and then land inside it.

"Alright, that may do for now... Hmmm however, we really do need a little garden... yes, that we do"

Beth was bored. There was no fighting going on, and her Servant was Caster of all classes. She would have been much better suited for Berserker, or at least Saber.

Frowning slightly at her tea-sipping Servant, a brilliant idea struck the young girl. Grinning widely, the Master promptly glomped her Servant and demanded in a loud voice. "Casteeeeeer! Carry me to the outside! That's an ordeeeeeer!"
