For 15 bucks at release. It's actually worth it.

It's not bad for the price they're asking for. The combat is solid. The narrative is garbage and theirs only 6 voice actors in the entire thing, and 2 of them only appear at the beginning and end but still, solid.

A Kamen Rider game from Platinum would be fun, though.

Yeah, this is a good game. It just needed more... well, more. More story, more stages, more enemy types, and more budget to make all that possible. The core gameplay is great; Platinum standard. I just want more. I can only hope that maybe another such project could be made, but with higher budget.

But kudos to Platinum for keeping their focus on making the combat as stellar as always. That's probably the one part of the game nobody would be able to look past, if that was where it showed its budget.

Well, as someone who loves the fuck out of Platinum's probably most controversial title to date, Anarchy Reigns, I strongly assume the negative reviews to this here little diversion are probably best taken with the entire content of a bloody salt shaker.

It's definitely worth $15, I'll say that much. Although, waiting for a Steam sale probably wouldn't be the worst of ideas...

I have to say, I almost kind of hope Activision would give them the budget for a retail sequel, as unlikely as that might be. The show's full of moments that would make a great video game fight, like, say, the end of Season 2, so anything that gets closer to that would be pretty much amazing.

Let's be honest, Activision won't throw money at any games that aren't Co D or the Spyro figure-game-thing. But I think that this game being as good as it is, despite a clear lack of time, budget and staff only shows just how good PlatinumGames is. This game would've fell the fuck apart under any other dev team.

Seriously though, if Pro-Bending was it's own separate game and had a versus mode with selectable teams, I would buy it.

Don't ask what's wrong with me, because I don't know either.

[up] Sell the idea to EA.

They fucking love sport games.

[up][up] Problem being that Pro-bending is an actual game, not a sim.

Also, fun fact: creating a new game will still let you keep the costumes and items you unlocked (that don't involve bending). So that's pretty neat.

They once made/published a Harry Potter spinoff focused on Quidditch, so it's not quite impossible for them to do something like this.

Probably. I just don't have enough faith for them to do it well.

[up]Quidditch World Cup was actually rather decent. Not all that polished but surprisingly fun. I wouldn't complain with a game of the same quality about Pro Bending.

Also, if I remember correctly they menaged to tie the Golden Snitch race to the actual main game, avoiding the Golden Snitch trope a bit. That is a nice accomplishment.

Yeah, you had to perform trick shots and such to get boost power for your Seeker. Don't know what triggered the Snitch appearing, but the better you played in the main game, the better off you'd be for the Seeker chase.

The other thing I remember about the game is that once you unlocked the international teams, they were about as subtle in showing their nationality as G Gundam. And that you can't play as any League teams, so if you were hoping on lifting the Chudley Cannons out of their losing streak, tough luck.

Yeah, that was the part that needed more polishing.tongue But really, if they took the same basic gameplay and just expanded the game, it would be great.

Anyway, back to Legend of Korra.

TB, as linked in the above video, seems to find the game pretty bad by Platinum standards, but otherwise not horrible by licensed game standards. He pointed out many issues with the game (story that's pretty much impossible to follow if you're not a fan [which he isn't], the way the game uses the A Taste of Power trope, camera issues, instant failure states in the Naga segments, etc.) and the PC port (limited graphics options, resolution doesn't go above 1080p, no rebindable keys [or even a *list* of keys for that matter], etc.), but is at least willing to admit that it's got its moments, like those times where you pull off a big counter and retaliate with a flashy, powerful attack. And the other times when the combat system actually shines through in big fights against multiple human enemies.

Side note: I chuckled when he pointed out the fact that when he grew up in the UK, the word "bender" had offensive implications that weren't present in the US.

So I noticed two neat things.

1. For the Spirit Bending finisher, If you hold the button Korra will do the full animation and continiouslg gain spirit energy. Any other spirits will pause and stare at you and if they're low on health they get spirit bended automatically

2. When Hundun Starts chasing you with the dark pool energy you can ride on your airball backwards and before you hit the barrier there is this one dark spirit that will always give you a cabbage

Dang, combining the charge guard, always-full-charge, and hp regen accessories is nuts.
