Let's hope this isn't too dark, this guy's kind of a Psycho for Hire

  • Name: James “Winter” Winters/ Aiden Grady
  • Age: Inapplicable, Grady is 36.
  • Appearance/Personality: Grady is a well-built, barrel chested South African man standing about six, five. He's cleanshaven, with his neck tightly bound in duct tape, with a mohawk and has bionic arms and implants in his legs, he often wears a wife beater under a loose fitting button up shirt, camo pants and boots, Winter is a cruel, calculating psychopath, he only cares for himself, however, he will work for others. Though he's overall a ruthless, sadistic sonuvabitch. He likes karaoke.
  • Background: James Winters has been a hacker for long before Network zero, serving as a hacker, however, when he was diagnosed with terminal cancer, he did something no one else has ever done-Upload his brain onto the network, from there, he existed as a network entity until he managed to upload himself into the brain of a low level street thug named Aiden Grady, all he had to do was force Grady to slit his own throat, and he'd been in the driver seat.
  • Skills: Winter is able to access Grady's muscle moves, allowing him to utilize all of his new body's previous physcial skills, including suprising skills in firearms, knife and hand to hand combat, locking picking, and parkour, Winters himself is able to lie easily, as well as being a computer genius.
  • Cybernetic Enhancements: Grady has several implants in both his arms and his eyes, all from the black market, which allow him to be a crackshot at fire arms, as well as heightened reflex and super strength, and implants in his legs allowing for super speed.

Well, with a week or so before the proper rp starts I guess we'll all have plenty of time to plot.

Okay, we need Sean Bean, a bunch of incestuous blonde people, and one midget...

Why not have a mafia don that had come clean. And was running for mayor, only to be assassinated, along with the reveal that he was still quite active in crime; oughta send shockwaves through the entire city.

Maybe throw in a jump on black market implants...

Is that idea really THAT dark? And don't any of you watch Game Of Thrones?

Well, a crazy German kid died, there was a giant monster fetus, and a giant shark mech.

Also, Jr, may I suggest making a discussion thread?

[up][up][up] Yes I do watch Game Of Thrones, in fact I finished season 1 today.

and I was mostly joking about the crazy messed up ideas you'd make. (But seriously when the RP properly starts I'd prefer it if you don't push it too far.)

[up][up] I'd tell a story but I don't feel bothered. Let's just Troy made up some really messed up ideas for my last big RP.

[up] Well thanks for filling in the gaps there.

A discussion thread? I'd rather start one when I actually get the RP up and running. This thread's mostly for sign ups/interest checks and some ideas. The discussion thread when it is made will go into better detail on the RP and plots planned

Yeah, I promise, it won't get much worse than Winter's concept.

But, am I to expect that the settling ins a Wretched Hive?

A Wretched Hive? Yeah I'd say so. The city looks cool but it's pretty terrible to live in, unless you're rich of course [lol]

Giant monster fetus? It sounds like a Binding of Isaac Rp.... or, an Earthbound RP, actually.tongue

Ahem, making a discussion would probably be a good idea to keep this from getting too cluttered. Buuut, it is at your discretion.

I really ought to finish Earthbound. As for the fetus, yeah that was a weird time.

As for a discussion thread. Not yet. I'll make one soon I'm kinda busy now.

[up][up] You don't wanna know.

So, Gotham City without Bats? Rotten police force, half of the city are slums, some of which are flooded with sewage from clogged sewers, beaten down by the brutal police force. but in towers that reach into heaven itself, the rich lead decadent lives, untouched by the troubles below.

Like that? If so, I'll write up some stuff once I get back on my computer.

Yeah pretty much that. Only you know, with lots and lots of technology and robots and hovercars/hoverbikes. The usual raining cyberpunk city.

Also, what's the city called? Can I suggest Elysium City?

[up] Harrison Fords? I dunno maybe. I haven't seen Blade Runner by the way

And the city is called Echo City. It says that pretty clearly on the first post here.

Hover vehicles?

Reminds me of Batman Beyond.

Some plot ideas:

  • We start off with the detectives investigating a ring of weapons smugglers. Things get complicated really quickly.
  • Someone is circulating the Raider Mecha-Suits designed by Xander's dad Ector to parts of the criminal underworld.
  • There is a mysterious villain called "Ghost" who goes around to people logged into the Zero Network, stabs them with some sort of knife, and then their mind ends up uploaded to the Network and then deleted.

Some world building suggestions

ELYSIUM: The Richest District Of Echo City, were all the massive towers of the upper class live, it's said to be closest to Heaven as you can possibly get on earth, there's a cure to every sickness, no starvation. It's the perfect place to be, of course, only the upper class get to be there,

SERVE: Service Engineering Response surVeilance and law Enforcement, or SERVE is the police force, however, they are rather close to being a privatized army owned by the mayor, members of SERVE are all heavily augmented cyborgs who wield stun batons, Hand Cannons, and armor piercing mini guns, all of which they can use easily, they're also easily paid off by the rich, usually if you pay them off, they'll grab some shmuck and throw him in jail for the charges raised.

THE GUTTER: The Oakleaf district, located on the eastern border of the city, is the worst slum in the city, full of crime, and due to a problem with the sewers, the neighborhood is flooded with about three feet of raw sewage at all times, leaving most people to live on the roofs of buildings, with hastily constructed bridges, SERVE stays out of this area, as it's too crime ridden to be worth saving, most suggestions have consisted of building a wall around it and just letting it die.

THE POPULI: The repressed have made a brief rebellion of the militia, however, they're not organized very well, nor are they skilled, most are just working class people who just grab a guns, and many of them have used black market implants, which often have lethal side effects, so as of now, they're a nuisance.

Just hearing about how much of SERVE is weaponry and cybernetics gives one some...ideas...

Other Worldbuilding Ideas:

  • The Spectres: Hired hackers who use the Zero Network to spy on what people are up to and what they're working on. They are called such due to their unique cybernetics that hook up their heads to helmets, preventing people from ever identifying them. They're also not bad in combat, saying the least.

  • Euphor: One of the newest drugs on the streets - Euphor excites the body and basically makes everything feel good. However, prolonged use results in the user requiring more and more stimulation to feel anything at all. By the end of it, the user is left in a state where they cannot feel anything at all, even emotions.

Interesting ideas, though we shouldn't get too carried away without JR... Nevertheless, the Zero Network murders sound like fun. I'm still thinking of ways to get June involved in some kind of plot. Maybe as a murder witness or brought in to assist forensic analysis of evidence visa vie the murders or weapons smuggling.

Agreed. The Serve idea may be a problem since my character is a human officer working in public security.
