Saw that the page has the following note:

Image commented out per thread: https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/posts.php?discussion=1352671621017500100 Please do not reveal this image or add a different one without starting a new IP thread.

But the page currently has a somewhat literal image:

Has this been discussed, or would it be alright to go ahead and remove it?

The original thread voted to comment out the previous pic. I actually don't mind the literal glass cannon.

I wouldn't mind a good suggestion, but there's no problem with it as it is.

Also going to add, while it's literal, it's still a good illustration of the trope.

What everyone's said. When a proper illustration can't be found, a Visual Pun is acceptable for the funsies. Even then, this visual pun has the added bonus of actually fitting the trope as well, so I say keep it.

"Also going to add, while it's literal, it's still a good illustration of the trope."

Extremely minor point (a Visual Pun is probably fine): I disagree. A non-literal glass cannon can dish it out but can't take it. Actually being made out of glass would be a massive offensive impairment for a cannon; it would put a small fraction of the force behind a cannonball that an iron (etc) one would. A literal glass cannon does not illustrate the idiomatic Glass Cannon.

True, it wouldn't work if you get down to technicalities, due to a cannon basically being a containment for an explosion with one open end, which glass doesn't do very well. However, since it's kind of pointless for a cannon to be a cannon unless it works, it's one of those assumptions you can make, so that's why I think it illustrates. Sort of like how golden armour works in fiction.

Just going to say that I have no problems with the literal glass cannon (the caption helps), though I thought it might warrant a discussion since it's added despite the commented out note to not add any without one.

I would prefer a different pic here, but this is not nearly bad enough to pull without replacement. Keep Until Better Image Suggested.

Definitely Kepp until better image is suggested. While Fridge Logic would kick in on that cannon actually working in the first place, it still sorta counts at this, and is a nice Visual Pun to boot.

It's not a bad image. It certainly illustrates. Strong attack? It's a freakin' cannon. Weak defense? It's made of glass. Literal? Yes. Unhelpful? No.

Seems like we have enough consensus to keep, then. I'm good to have this thread locked.
