The first thing I saw the gun replaced with was a banana.
i. hear. a. sound.To be fair, Pico-dude was involved.
For a while, I've been wondering what was up with all those 'light bulbs' in the Landing Castles. Turns they were all Aldnoah Drives.
That's quite a lot of those needed to operate a Landing Castle.
That's quite a powerful whip Cruhteo had there. He destroyed that chair in one shot. I'm surprised Slaine wasn't bleeding profusely from just one strike of the whip.

What was in your right hand is hope; And in another hand is something else to fade.@Harem-Author
This would certainly solve the issue by eliminating Casus Belli but there are three issues. First, since the world communications are down very few know about the aldnoah powered battleship. Second, there are traitors in Vers that are willing to kill the princess outright. Third, it isn't immediately clear that the battleship runs on an aldnoah drive since it appears to be built with a terran design aesthetic and resembles terran made technology.
It just... infuriates me that we're supposed to be rooting for Inaho and have to watch Slaine suffer and play second-banana to someone far less interesting and compelling. There is meat to Slaine's story. There is character, emotion, and feeling. Inaho just exists to service the plot, and to subvert tropes and be Genre Savvy with no personality to back it up. That'd be great if he was just a minor character or even a side character, but it doesn't work if he's the main character.
I feel things moved way too fast this episode compared to how slow things have been the past several. Cruhteo does a Heel–Face Turn and then gets immediately offed for his trouble. Reminds me of the issues Gargantia had in its final act.
These are the words that shall come from my mouth. I shall be known for speaking them.I could have missed something, but having seen episode 8 I’m kinda confused over two things: why did Slaine go back to Cruhteo’s castle when he knew what was in store for him (having basically deserted), and why was Saazbaum so insistent on keeping Slaine alive? If Saazbaum knew that Slaine knew about the conspiracy, wouldn’t it make more sense to get rid of him before he could open his mouth?
I assume he was captured.
These are the words that shall come from my mouth. I shall be known for speaking them.Yeah, it was implied that Cruhteo's men picked Slaine up when they were investigating Tanegashima after Team Inaho left.
As for Saazbaum, his dialogue in earlier episodes suggests that Slaine's dad is important. That, and/or he's 'rescuing' Slaine from Cruhteo in order to win his trust and use him to track down the princess (which might work - the kid was pretty out of it by the time his boss had his HFT).
What's precedent ever done for us?Indeed. Plus, when Slaine was still conscious, Saazbaum seemed like the less antagonistic of the two, and thus might be able to trick Slaine into thinking Cruteho was in on it, while he (Saazbaum) rescued Slaine.
One Strip! One Strip! My guess is that Saazbaum wants Slaine alive so he can tell him where the princess is. This will end badly for Saazbaum as he's A. attacked a fellow knight and B. has a captive that's suspicious of everybody.

SON OF A BITCH!
I hate Heel–Face Door-Slam moments when they're like this! Cruhteo had better still be alive!

Count Cruhteo you must live. You must rise and comeback from the ashes of defeat. He was in the show for like 8 episodes and it feels like a waste just to kill him off. He could have done more or not have died so unceremoniously. Plus I wanted to see his mech. Do they could go back to retrieve it later between some time skip.
Plus we never saw his Kataphrakt!
It seems quite (in)convenient that Slaine, Cruhteo and several of the crew were specifically on the upper levels of the Landing Castle when Ass-bomb dropped in, no pun intended.
Imagine if they were on the lower levels. Maybe then Cruhteo would have had enough time to get in the Tarthis and battle against Ass-bomb's Dioscuria.
What was in your right hand is hope; And in another hand is something else to fade.I call him "Saucebum"
I've got new mythological machinery, and very handsome supernatural scenery. Goodfae: a mafia web serialI have considered that also.
What was in your right hand is hope; And in another hand is something else to fade.Rewatching episode 8 I realized that Cruhteo changed his mind because the princes was alive. He was willing to raze earth because of her death. Meaning that he is possibly not as genocidal and racist as the other martians do to his loyalty.

What's the next stop for the Slaine Pain Train?
What was in your right hand is hope; And in another hand is something else to fade.
Brainwashing.
I imagine this week the show's writing staff calling to confirm with Butch Gen if its time to cut Slaine some slack, and Gen says "No".

August 24, 2014. Dakimakura on my office chair this morning. Stains all over Hatsune Miku's mouth. These otaku are afraid of me. I have seen their true face. The airwaves are extended gutters and the gutters are full of imoutos and waifus, and when their parents finally cut off their allowance those hikkikomori will starve. The accumulated shame of all their sad, empty lives will wash over them, and those otaku and fujoshi will look up and shout "Stop torturing the moe characters!"...
...And I'll whisper "No."

I suppose I would be able to...tolerate Slaine's suffering......provided Inko (and espescially Inaho) suffers as well.
C'mon Urobutcher. Aren't you an equal-opportunity kind of guy? Suffering for everyone.
What was in your right hand is hope; And in another hand is something else to fade.Pssh!
Haven't you noticed there are always certain characters who get it a little worse.
Everyone had a hard time in Fate Zero, but only Saber was verbally browbeaten at every opportunity by everyone else (many of whom didn't have a right to judge her, but got to anyway). Kerry didn't get called out until the Manifestation of all the evils of the world started complimenting him).
And then there's Sayaka, who accomplishes all of one heroic act before becoming everyone's punching bag, and even having her one good act as a Magical Girl twisted on her.
There are characters higher on the suffering scale then others in Urobuchi works. Slaine must secretly act on Black-and-White Morality or something.
That being said, we'll see what the future has in store for him.
One Strip! One Strip!Hurray, someone else DID suffer this episode!
Or maybe a little more than that, but I'm not sure yet.

This week's episode.
Suffering, all-around. SOMEONE didn't think things through.
Rayet goes and strangles the princess with Slaine's locket... Apparently she suffocates, and when THAT happens, the Aldnoah drives die, sending the Deucalion crashing into the Russian tundra. Oops.

Episode 7. The secret about the martian princess is out, and Earth now has a fighting chance. That Aldnoah battleship is freaking awesome. Hella's pilot is not only insane, she's stupid to insane levels. Naming your weapons is one thing, but calling them your children? And what's worse, when she sees TERRANS flying an Aldnoah ship which could only happen with the approval of the Emperor, or his descendants, meaning that the princess is alive, instead of standing down and surrendering, or running away, SHE RAMS THE SHIP! (Or tries to before being shot out of the sky, then being killed mid-sentence by one of the very sleeper agents her government betrayed.)
Episode 8: Raynet, your complaints (though valid) are beginning to give you away. The princess narrowed her eyes when you described Martian culture in explicit detail. That's not something an Earth native could gather easily. Naive though she may be, the princess is not an idiot. This episode also settles the doubts as to the princess being dead, and the body double filling the role, because the princess not only "magically transforms," but activates the Aldnoah on the battleship which nobody else could do.
