First, I note that Cannibalism Superpower seems much more successful. It has a lot more examples on the page, and more wicks and inbounds as well.
Cannibalism Superpower: 256 wicks, 286 inbounds.
You Are Who You Eat: 74 wicks, 56 inbounds.

We could differentiate them by making You Are Who You Eat about absorbing the personality of your meals, while Cannibalism Superpower would be about the actual powers gained from it.

If there's enough separation in the examples to fit that mold, then that seems to be the most feasible fix.
I have anther suggestion about how we can handle the splits/mergers. Cannibalism Superpower can focus on getting powers from eating others in general (for example, The Blob grows when it eats people) while You Are Who You Eat can focus specifically on mimicry (for example, The Thing (1982) changes its appearance to that of its victims).

I feel as if should explain why the Film section was divided in two.
For some reason, YAWYE has three sections for animated film; Anime and Manga, Films-Animated, and Western Animation. Additionally, in CS, "Wreck-It Ralph" is listed under Film instead of Western Animation.
Those issues are easily fixable, but I imagine it would only be prudent to do so after we've figured out what's getting merged into where.

Films go into the 'Films' folder regardless of where they're from. Film can be split into 'Live Action' and 'Animated' if desired. Wreck It Ralph should be namespaced to Western Animation, but appear in Film - Animated folders.

There's overlap with a lot of tropes. It doesn't make them the same trope. There are at least a number of cases that are either one or the other.

I can see a distinction between getting someone's powers and changing your appearance (which may or may not be partial and/or include that person's abilities).
You Are Who You Eat doesn't seem limited to eating, though, as stealing body parts (corporeal or not) for the same purpose is also mentioned.
Also, Cannibalism Superpower doesn't seem to include cases where you have to use some kind of extra power (like a ritual) to get the ability from what you consume, as it's defined as the power to be able to get abilities by eating stuff with those abilities, rather than the act of gaining said abilities in itself.
It doesn't help that both page images are Kirby.

I would say to keep them separate. Appearances and superpowers are very different things.
Only thing I would consider here is to rename You Are Who You Eat for being dialogue-titled and having so-so wicks and inbounds.

Well, the definitions would also need to be tightened because right now they read as the same thing, and the wicks need cleaning, but it is a distinction that we could make between the pages. I don't think the method really matters. We can expand them a hair.

The similar pictures are my fault. I added the YAWYE image a few minutes before discovering CS.
I agree that we should simply tighten up the definitions. Both tropes have their place but, somewhere among the line, the definitions got muddied.
Also, YAWYE could be considered a sub-trope (is that the right word?) of CS,but it doesn't have to be.
I think they're more sister tropes that sometimes overlap. But we need to make distinctions clearer.

If we do change YAWYE to mean taking on the appearance of one's victim, that means that the picture is no longer relevant. Do we need to create a Image Pickin' thread to fix that? Or can we just decide on a better picture here?

I'm failing to see a clear difference between [1] and [2].
If anything, it seems that the the former is the act of eating as a power while the later is the ability to eat as a power. I imagine that would be akin to having separate tropes for flight and flying which, to me, seems unnecessarily redundant.
