Constantine will return on January 16th and it will have a new timeslot of 8 PM.
It is going to be the darkest show on Network TV in the 8 PM timeslot. That is 7 PM in the Central Timezone.
Batman Ninja more like Batman's Bizarre AdventureNot really. I mean are there ANY links between Raven and John, outside them both being DC and magic ? Shazam would make as much sense. I'd rather they focus on the Hellblazer world, rather than random DC name dropping. Leave that to the other three shows.
That's not encouraging. I feel that Constantine would benefit from going more horror and an earlier timeslot doesn't indicate that.
…Really?
Um, John deals and endures with Angels and Demons on a regular basis. Raven is half-Demon and she's normally, if not always, an Anti Anti Christ. She was born with the purpose of bringing forth the apocalypse and stuff, but she doesn't want to.
Ergo, this could make for a good season-long conflict.
The demons they individually deal with have no links to one another. They are two completely seperate groups that are just called the same thing. Trigon sod all connection to the Abrahamic version of Hell Constantine uses.
Given there's no superheros in Constantine, why bring one in ?
Zatanna's pretty relevant to Constantine - at least in the New 52 incarnation of the character. With Constantine being the only DC-aligned show that could reasonably introduce characters from the mystic side of the DCU - like Raven, Trigon, Zatanna, Doctor Fate (which we've already had a cameo from, kinda), Spectre (who's rumored to show up anyway, right? I haven't kept up with any of the shows I've been interested in this season), etc. - it's a great opportunity to make the show more accessible to mainstream fans.
Arrow - which I don't actually watch - seems like a big crossover, introducing character after character, not to mention bridging with the Flash. As well as Constantine works in his own self-contained little universe, introducing those recognizable characters like Raven - superhero or not - broadens the spectrum in terms of viewers, stories, and the general mythology and scale of the show.
I always like when Constantine gets involved with other superheroes anyway, because he has absolutely zero respect for them
"A king has no friends. Only subjects and enemies."This.
After all, Arrow had Deathstroke and Suicide Squad. Has Green Arrow ever had any ties with Deathstroke or Suicide Squad in the comics? None that I'm aware of! But who cares if they had any relationship in the comics?
Granted, the fans might rage or praise about it, but to mainstream audiences, they'll just be thinking "Oh hey, Arrow's clashing with that orange-black masked guy from Teen Titans!" (If they knew about TT 2k3). Or maybe more realistically, "Hmmmm, this Slade Wilson character sounds interesting. I wonder what stuff is he also in."

In Arrows case they pretty much had to import people because he doesn't really have a Rogues Gallery of his own plus he's the de facto Batman of the DCTVU, which explains Ra's and the League, not to mention the all too brief cameo by Harley
Trump delenda estGreen Arrow fought Deathstroke in the comics before.
The reason they could use the League of Assassins and Ra's al Ghul is because Merlyn used to be in the League of Assassins in the comics.
Batman Ninja more like Batman's Bizarre AdventureThe Spectre's alter-ego did show up.
Just watched that episode and Zed does have a vision of Corrigan bloody, probably dead and wreathed in green light
Trump delenda estThoughts on the mid-season finale? I was sceptical about this show at first and the pilot and first couple of episodes did nothing to dispel that for me, but from episode 4 onwards this show started to win me over and I thought the latest episode was a pretty good way to finish for the break. It's not a great show by any means, but one that I am at least finding engaging to an extent now.
I also think the storylines they have adapted have been well handled on the whole and though obviously not exact retellings, they are done in a way that makes sense and better fits the context of the show e.g. 'A Feast of Friends' and Zed's story arc.
Also anyone else think that this version of Constantine comes across as a tad nicer than his comic counterpart?
Yes. Considering the junkie friend was forced into the sacrifice in the comics screaming.
Alliteration yay.
Hey. My family apparently recorded the series for me and it seems interesting enough, but I heard something about them making him straight compared to being bisexual in the comics or something? Is that true?
It was at first reported that was happening, but the statement was later retracted and thus far the series hasn't pronounced itself in the matter. He does flirt with both sexes, though, but it's hard to tell if that's just him being him.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."Constantine Hell and Back feature about the mill house.
Batman Ninja more like Batman's Bizarre AdventureIf the show stays on long enough to ever get around to introducing the House of Mystery and apply as much subtle depth and background stuff to it as they did just to the mill house alone, I'll be impressed.
"A king has no friends. Only subjects and enemies."Wiped my post since the thread is flatlining

New one begins now.
You fell victim to one of the classic blunders!I guess many aren't posting because they think it will not get renewed but NBC still haven't decided if they will renew it. They love the DVR, On Demand and Online numbers they just hate the live numbers.
Batman Ninja more like Batman's Bizarre AdventureI hope it gets renewed, if only because it takes just enough from the comics to have bonuses for those who have read them but is still original enough for someone unfamiliar with it to get into it. I just wish these networks would be willing to cross over with Arrow or Gotham or something with a more stable and established fanbase to hook completionists in but...I don't see that happening.
I'm really afraid of this show being Too Good to Last. At the very least, I'll get my Justice League Dark movie for the DCCU. Eventually...
"A king has no friends. Only subjects and enemies."Is Jacob Shaw anyone in Hellblazer or a new character? I can't find anything from google.
You fell victim to one of the classic blunders!I wish they went more horror with it. Hellblazer is a dark comic while Constantine is far more rregular urban fantasy stuff. Real horror would give it more of identity.
Double posting to necro this discussion board.
So…
Anyone still hoping we'll, at the very least, get a tease for Raven in the season finale?
