Hydrall had some concerns which he has forwarded to you personally.

As such, I will focus on fluff.

"Really pale" might be better; I don't really know anyone who looks greenish under any light [except, you know, greenish lights]. If I had some inclination as to how a person would have it naturally, then we could talk. Gene Modding is still experimental on people and expensive enough that they would not use it to make someone greenish for kicks.

"Reid Haddad enlisted as a squire". This is a minor nitpick, but to even be a Squire you have to be a child of a Knight or higher Noble. You might make it in as a candidate through particularly impressive training but even then there would be screening. Knights are sort of the best of the best elites in the entire Centauri army. As such, maybe a little more detail and build up to his promotion into Knighthood would be good.

"featuring allegations of hacking and intentionally causing a blackout". This is personal experience, but to address the savant side, previously in other games someone who attempted to bring a genius hacker into a robot game for me ended with grunts and groans whenever an attempt to use those abilities came into play. Either because things I needed to keep the plot going and make it fun for everyone [Robot fights] were being broken apart in a way that seemed fairly broken or because either limitations or countermeasures were set up to show why this was a bad idea. On the other side of this; a lot of hacking has more to do with bluffing your way through on a phone which is hard when your character is socially lacking, this lead me to expect it to be more of a Hollywood Hacker affair which when abused is exactly what can lead to the tension and arguments that I was hoping had passed.

"that lowborn criminal retard". As a hat, Cents are uptight and politically correct. "low born" and "criminal", I can see but the last bit would go unspoken. Felt perhaps and causing tension deeper than with the Feds but still. This is minor, however I will be frank that I pulled this out because I'm a bit uncomfortable with that being how you expect others to see your character.

Lastly, Hydrall will bring this up but we did discuss with Nman [who we trust as we've been in a few campaigns alongside eachother] that he might be making the characters "unique" more than interesting. I see a lot of quirks that make this character different but not a lot that makes him a person with the potential for growth and a character arc.

Maybe you can pull it off but it risks a lot and we have had in previous games characters who were supposed to be "eccentric but capable" turn into a very uncomfortable affair for everyone.

I added the hacking background to tie into the role of Electronic Support; it's definitely not something that is going to be used in-game at all, it was just for flavor.

Character arc is an interesting question and I admit I didn't really think of that. Right now I think being thrown into a small group of people would cause Reid to open up somewhat (as previously mentioned) and even possibly develop friendships and appreciate the value of other people as human beings. That's the character's big failing as I see it — he's a very solitary being who doesn't want to have someone to talk to or to be there for.

Changing the "greenish" thing to "pale" after all. I didn't want to go with "pale" since the character has an Arab background, but then again it's Arab-Anglo so whatever.

And yeah sorry about the enlistment-squire-promotion thing, I sort of wanted to get that part over with because I couldn't really think of anything interesting to say about that. I'll think of something, although I'm open to suggestions.

As to paleness, I actually like that; this is a thousand years after present day and we've resettled to new planets so, I think it makes sense that Ethnic groups would look radically different from now with some vestigal traits here and there. In the side campaign I ran, Swedes [and other Scandinavian groups] mixed together and settled a climate ranging from Floridian to Amazon and it showed in their complexion.

Glad about the hacking element, it was sort of an after-thought, but I still have a good chunk of my P Ming history dedicated to arguing about potential scifi tech after I allowed a teen genius.

I like that as a potential path and I think it will do well, just keep an ear out for me, Parable and Hydrall. If things are going in a bad direction we will give you a heads up and hopefully everything should be good.

As to backstory; I'd demote him to a 7th so there's less need for fluff and history, but put the hacking element earlier into his career; joined up as a Regular Pilot who showed enough promise to be put on a frame. Promising early outings caught the eye of a sponsor who might have helped to clear the charges. Afterwards, promotion from Aspirant to 7th would come pretty quickly. If you want him to be a 6th, let him have gotten after a few more runs showed a consistant service record.

The Sponsor would also be a potential plothook for Hydrall to bring in an NPC and show why he was interested in your character, inspite of low birth [though admittedly that's not too rare; perhaps half our current P Cs are untitled petit bourgeious who wanted to earn their way up].

I actually think there should be a scene where someone asks Reid about combat hacking and he flatly says that's the dumbest thing he's ever heard of. "You'd have to be Hyperman to pilot a frame and hack into even the simplest encrypted system at the same time, it's impossible."

If Insano doesn't take the spot, I'd like to call it next.

We're not reserving spots here because that would be unfair to anyone who actually made a character but didn't reserve a place. It's whoever makes the first acceptable character that gets the last spot.

All I know is that the side I'm on is short a player. Insano's "may" doesn't really serve any purpose and seems to be blocking off our only spot without any promise of a character, so why not just make a sheet Azuare?

Acceptable here being that there is some clear effort put into a character sheet; once a proposed character is in discussion, we will likely consider the spot reserved unless it reaches some sort of impasse. We will take a sheet over a non-commital promise to write one.

Of course, we are running a game with 22 people and relatively tight rules on turn taking, so I suspect both of you will have a chance to play soon enough if you submit characters; people tend to disappear in these sorts of games.

• Appearance:Casual Attire
• Personality: Caring and protective of her younger squad-mates. She'll make sure to be by their side when they need her. Can become rather overprotective over those she cares about but will also defend them vehemently if anything happens. At the same time she is also fiercely ambitious. Years of caring for others left her wanting to do something for herself, and her father's spoon feeding annoyed her enough to make her want to earn her own way up for once. Sometimes, these two traits of caring and ambition conflict but she'll usually strike a good balance between the two.
• Backstory: Born to a family in nobility in Eden, Veiyhl was raised in a household as the eldest sibling. She has 5 younger brothers and 13 younger sisters, by virtue of his father's wife and 3 mistresses. As a result, she ended up often caring for her younger siblings when her parents were away. Despite their servants doing most of the work, her younger siblings often preferred asking her to play. The flip side was that she also had to be there for them when they were in trouble, and this continued for most of her siblings aw they grew up.
• How you became a knight/ace: Veiyhl was encouraged by her father to become a Knight as a means to his own standing in the political world. She was also driven by her own desire to do something for herself for once, instead of for her siblings, so she agreed. Veiyhl enlisted as a regular frame pilot, despite her father wanting to set her up immediately as a 3rd Knight. She insisted on working her own way up the ladder. She scored well enough on the simulator and became a frame pilot as a result. After a routine patrol mucked up by a rogue pirate ship, she and a couple of patrol mates quelled the incident. Unfortunately, her father caught wind of it and immediately demanded she be promoted to knight. This gave her her title, but not entirely in the way she wanted. After some more missions and a couple of shows of skill here and there, she made her way up to 6h knight. She hopes to continue climbing all the way to 1st eventually.

At 23 her only younger squadmate would be Elaine. If that's a significant part of her personality, putting her in her early thirties would work a lot better.

Hey, Azuare, I can see this is a new account on your part but would it be possible to pick a different name? An Azure is already closely invovled with this project and we'd like to avoid potential confusion. Obviously, we don't have say in your account name, just expect "AA" as a nickname if you want to stick to it.

So, there's a lot to poke at here but please don't take it as discouraging;

First up is the family name, in particular the mention of "Royal Family". Are you saying you're from a Cadet Branch of the Emperor's family? In which case, I think me and Hydrall would have to discuss the surname of any family that large and work with you on details. Relation to a Viceroy or Shogun might be possible, but then you'd likely have a cultural bend towards either Spanish or Japanese. Speaking of which; Silverwing is also a bit outside of what we had in mind; we're trying to keep to real or plausible emerging names and Silverwing will sort of stand out. Veiyhl also didn't get any recognition on my first google; except for a Tamil drama which isn't named after any characters. A bit more clarification on your ideas with the name might be good.

4th Knight is really high ranked and not something which we recommend to newcomers. It's possible but I really recommend against it; especially since 4th tends to be a position for Knights without landed titles, while those with titles tend to be promoted right into 3rd. Which as eldest child of a Royal family, you'd likely be counted as. Also, as the Centauri haven't been at war for 10 years and Knight Ranks are honourary affairs rather than strictly military ranks, you'd likely be stuck on the lower end of them anyway; 6th likely.

Concubines are also questionable; it is a Christian colony so "Mistress" is the acceptable term. Though it's definitely possible that arrangements could be made and accepted, just not officially. And it would likely be frowned on, if tolerated.

Lastly, some more expansion on what you want to do with your character in terms of personality and development would be nice. This is not a sticking point, but it is one that both me and Hydrall would like to hear more on.

Azaure, I don't think we want to accept anyone actually from the royal family, nor do the Centauri keep concubines. You could be a noble if you want, those are a dime a dozen. Her age seems a bit off for her rank, the only other Fourth Knight is my own character, and she's several years older and is implied to have family connections helping ehr advancement. Besides that, your history section leaves a lot to be desired. I know we said first come first serve, but we really need something more fleshed out before you can be approved. Consider writing down some important moment when she was a kid, another when she was older, and another after she became an adult.

Her How Did You Make Knight part also seems pretty vague. You could list a specific action or actions that got her promoted.

No, it's totally fine. I wasn't entirely clear on the setting so I'll have to correct it. By royal family I meant something like a Duke's daughter. Thanks for the critique, I'll edit my character a bit.

And I get that a lot about the name. Azure is pretty common on forums. AA would be fine thank you.

And Veiyhl is just a name I like. I can change it but considering the other names here, would it be okay to just change the last name?
