Side note, member when Cartoon Network aired animated movies?

CN has been having airings of live action movies for years now, it's not exactly anything new but it's just an excuse to kill time on the schedule. They barely even advertise for them.

I mean most of the animated movies they showed years ago were bargain bin direct to DVD crap like Pinocchio 3000 and Here Comes Peter Cottontail so win some lose some I guess.

Not in my day they weren't.

Back then it was just Land Before Time sequels.

Adored by all? Oh hell no, people have been complaining about TTG taking up so much of the schedule for over a year and a half by now.

Better ask now than later, and since is the closest holiday for me, any Christmas movie/special you really liked or at least found memorable?

I really liked the Christmas episodes of the Powerpuff Girls, Adventure Time, Justice League (it aired on CN, i'm counting it), and Regular Show (the first one). I heard the Johnny Bravo Christmas episode was good, i'll have to check that one out. I wonder if we'll see Christmas episodes for We Bare Bears, Mighty Magiswords (lots of potential for Holiday-themed Magiswords for that one), and OK KO.

I think Unikitty has potential to not suck. I personally prefer Unikitty's new design. Her bigger eyes/mouth make her even more exaggerated.

CN has been having airings of live action movies for years now, it's not exactly anything new but it's just an excuse to kill time on the schedule. They barely even advertise for them.

First off my gripe wasn’t the fact that they played live action movies. Its more towards the fact that of all movies they choose to re air a lot more is usually the live action movies rather than the animated ones on a channel called Cartoon Network. Not sure if its because of airing rights or somebody just have a chubby for none animated things. Either way it seems rather odd.

I mean most of the animated movies they showed years ago were bargain bin direct to DVD crap like Pinocchio 3000 and Here Comes Peter Cottontail so win some lose some I guess.

Second off: Not really. They also aired direct to dvd Scooby Doo movies (including the good early ones), Scooby Doo television movies, Don Bluth films, obscure animated movies, direct to video/dvd DC films (they even aired Justice League New Frontier; y know, for kids), some things from Dreamwork (good thing Kung Fu Panda 2 was part of that schedule), Hannah Barbara movies, Wakko’s Wish (man back then they aired the shit out of that film) and (of course) CN original movies.

So I wouldn’t say most of the things they aired back then were bargain bin movies. Hell I don’t even remember the channel airing Pinochio 3000 on many occasins. Maybe later during its network decay, but hey I rather take Open Season 3 than The Cat in the Hat.

Now on holiday specials, well back in the Holiday Special discussion I mentioned five christmas specials. But the ones I remembered definitely airing on Cartoon Network was The Town Santa Forgot, Twelve Tiny Christmas Tales and The Life And Adventures of Santa Claus (which is btw one of the “crap bargain bin movies” that aired).

But for shows that aired on Cartoon Network christmas specials, go with these cartoon’s special:

  • Both of the Johnny Bravo Christmas episode
  • Flapjack
  • Regular Show
  • Adventure Times (which doubles as a wham episode regarding Ice King’s origin)
  • Codename Kids Next Door (it even has the X-Men in it)
  • Justice League
  • Batman The Brave and The Bold (also doubles as a wham episode regarding Batman’s origin)
  • Ed Edd n Eddy
  • Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy (which is somehow darker than the Halloween episode)
  • Venture Bros (which was my first introduction to the holiday figure Krampus)
  • The many Robot Chicken Christmas Specials
  • Moral Orel (which usually are incredibly dark episodes, especially given the show’s content/premise)
  • Aqua Teen Hunger Force: . . . Wait, Adult Swim shows do count as cartoon network shows, right? If so, then definitely the Christmas episode of ATHF mostly because at the start of the episode it wasn’t even a Christmas themed episode.

Wasn't tryna defend them airing them, was just kind of explaining why. I'm more frustrated that they don't have any variety to what they air most of the time and that for the most part it's usually the same four or five movies. Also, I mostly grew up with network decay CN, so they definitely aired a lot of the crap I'd mentioned. They did indeed air the Scooby-Doo movies but they were mostly focused on the What's New, Scooby-Doo ones, I think? I didn't remember much reruns of Zombie Island or that one with the witch.

[up] That explains it, since I was like a 5/6 year old when the whole Cartoon Network Theatre Block first got started and aires Land Before Time, American Tail, Balto and Mask of Phantasm as their first four movies to start things off.

I would definitely remember Zombie Island being its most frequently played Scooby Doo movie (since CN really loved Scooby Doo in the past).

I'm seen two videos on youtube titled 'Infinity train greenlit' and the subreddit is saying the same thing and I'm trying to puzzle out where this information is coming from

Weirdest thing I've heard is that it's going to be on Adult swim of all things as mini series

From what I understand, Infinity Train was technically green-lit after the test airing did surprisingly well despite its terrible time-slot. When it will start airing is the question.

That second part sounds more like common speculation given that people seem to like comparing it to Over the Garden Wall and the pilot got pretty heavy at the end.
