Akuma no Riddle/Riddle Story of Devil

The best show of the season that's not Jo Jos Bizarre Adventure. It has lesbian assassins that make murderous facial expressions at the drop of a hat, and Not!Hazama voiced by Tomokazu Sugita, can this show be anymore awesome than it already is?

Funimation is simulcasting it. The first episode is only for subscribers right now, but it'll be available for normal users soon.

Most entertaining first episode so far. And the best OP

They've been padding things out a bit (and heavily rearranging), but are still going through the manga at a decent pace. An anime-original ending (and, really, story) is pretty much guaranteed

Thus far the biggest change is the high-tech theme. Not sure if it's plot-relevant or just stylistic

There have been several claims that Riddle Story is a multimedia project, and the manga was really meant to compliment the anime or something. Since most of these claims came from /u/, it's doubtful that it's true, but it would explain the manga's rather erratic pacing compared to the anime.

^^It's not so much that they went through the manga quickly as much as it is that there's just not much of the manga to go through

Is it wrong of me to say that the first thing I thought about this show is "wow, it's a class entirely populated by autistic psychopaths"? Seriously, I'm not even saying that in a mean way. I'm on the autism spectrum myself, so I recognize some of the signs, and these girls have it bad.

Oh man you are so right! Well actually I think their warped personalities are more the result of troubled pasts, trained as assassins without empathy or fear. But the outcome is similar.

I don't know if this will be the best anime this season (probably not, there are so many good ones) but very good all the same. The quirky characters are it's best feature. I hope the plot ends up making sense and not just being "bodyguard crush girl's love!"

Is this a first-one-to-kill-the-target-wins or a last-man-standing-survival-of-the-fittest kind of plot? I mean, considering that they're all assassins means there'll be a body count. That fact makes me somewhat sad.

I see. Weird that they're airing it a day later.

Which one's number 10? The Token Mini-Moe or the Kyoko Expy? And, I'm pretty sure it's the former, the kill-target-first-and-win plot. Might turn into a Kill Them All later though.

No.10 is Nio. Pale blonde hair. Red eyes. Black and (what appears to be) gold (trimmed) uniform. Red bow tie. Red skirt. Apparently smells like a rotten sea.

So far, I'm liking Nio too. Helps that she's voiced by Yoshino Nanjo, fripside's singer.

Also, I've got the feeling that this forum will be referring to the bulk of the characters by number. Doesn't help that they're over a dozen of them. A dozen names to memorize and a dozen faces to associate them with.

I read a few chapters ahead in the manga, and while it's not techinally a spoiler, I'll tag it anyway to be safe: the pair you mentioned are very mild-mannered thus far. They've done nothing at all to be creepy or Yandere-ish. Whether this holds true for long is yet to be seen.

Hell, if anything it's that chick with the dark ponytail who's lost her shit. She's freaking cray-cray.

So, episode 2.

I had a theory that they might not actually be a target at all, and all 13 of them are assassins who were told one's of them not, but it seems that's not the case.

Seems like none of the characters have yet noticed the thing that gives Haru a fighting chance: everyone who's yet to hand in their notice has a vested interest in keeping her alive for the moment. It's not eleven assassins and one guard, it's eleven guards and one assassin. Unless you're willing to share the prize with a few accomplices who are all willing to risk you turning on them, it's incredibly disadvantageous to go first.
