Man, being a Normal Monster Dimension duelist would be extremely boring. You couldn't even win with Exodia, because the effect version wouldn't exist there.

What about the Spell dimension? They all have to use 40 burn cards if they want to stand a chance of winning with nothing but spells!

Well, they at least have Final Countdown Stall decks and Mill Decks to also use.

Normal monsters have a lot of Effect monsters that support them. Emissary of the Afterlife, Emissary of the Oasis, Lycantrope, etc.

Which wouldn't exist in the Normal Dimension.

Then we have the Toon Dimension, where everything is off-model XD.

And new cards are only made every ten years or so.

In the Toon Dimension, Cursed Seal is broken as fuck.

Union dimension would be epic.

The Gemini dimension would be the best because everyone would have some kind of hidden power or potential just waiting to be unlocked. EVERYONE.

• Ah, no wonder Kaito reacted to the name "Sakaki". ...And like Allen, I'm pretty sure he's thinking Yuushou's a traitor. Good times.
• Looks like the mainland is completely unaware of Academia's true movements.
• Alexis, looking good as usual. And Arc-V truly is the age of the mooks. Oh well, Armordogs are rather cute.
• Yuushou...doesn't seem so surprised at Yuzu being here.

Speaking of dimensions, clearly there is a Hero Dimension.

Something that kinda bugged me.

Sawatari tried to card those three Academia fodders before being stopped by Yuya. And considering Reiji went out of his way to remove the carding function from Shun's duel disk, why and how would Sawatari of all people (much less any of the Standard duel disks) have the carding function?

I mean, Shun (and probably Kaito as well) basically got his carding function by basically reverse-engineering (or something) an Academia duel disk.

He was searching for it on an Academia disk.

Good. After Crystal Wing happened I expected Dark Rebellion to get one sooner or later.

The raw for episode 104 is out.

Dark Rebellion's upgrade is called Dark Requiem Xyz Dragon. It can a) reduce an opponent's (Level 5+) monster's ATK to 0 and gain that amount in ATK (with its base ATK of 3000, that can get quite high), and can negate destruction effects by detaching a material, and can revive an Xyz monster. However, anime Requiem needs Rebellion as material to use any of its effects (it's obviously getting buffed). It was summoned via a Phantom Knights RUM.

Also, Edo went full Kachidoki this episode.

Yuto went full on early Yami Yugi. Holy shit, this series is really intent on deconstructing everything related to Yu Gi Oh, know we have one of the Spirit Advisor, in which Yuto realizes that, while admirable, the only way to bring smiles to everyone is to permanently destroy the Academia.

God damn, this really is a Gen Urobuchi esque cosmic drama. But, in my opinion, its actually being done better then what Urobuchi does.

That duel felt like something out of the manga, what with the alter-ego switching, at which point they draw the cards of their own decks.

I find it funny that Edo seems to be unaware that he was the one who sent Yuusho to the Fusion dimension, meaning his desire to lure him out is pointless.

The really funny part is that I bet the reason he's still in the XYZ dimension is that he's looking for Yuusho. He's basically wasting his time.

I did like the justification for Yuya having Dark Requiem and Yuto's other support in his deck, better than stuff like Catastrophe Wing literally magically appearing. The story beats in this episode and what they're doing with Yuto here is pretty good, too bad the actual meet-up between Yuya and Phoenix before they started dueling had garbage writing.

Heh, this is the first time one of those "XYZ monsters are Lv. 0!" moments actually worked out in the opponent's favor.

Actually, the first time was when Yuya dueled Hokuto.

First the latter used it to his advantage, then the former used that same loophole to gain a victory.

Now, let us conduct a Dark Requiem. Until Academia is taken out, Yuuto's fury will not quell...and he'll resort to body-jacking if he has to!

God damn, this really is a Gen Urobuchi esque cosmic drama. But, in my opinion, its actually being done better then what Urobuchi does.

I dislike the whole Gen Urobuchi comparison, mainly because it pigonholes him into one thing (I have a similar dislike regard opinions on George R.R Martin, but that's another story). Because Gen Urobuchi's style is more than just a lighthearted story turning out to be super dark. People forget that when Madoka began, there was already this surreal, off kilter and quiet mood to it that helped set up the tone shift. Arc-V has a completely standard style to it, but has some dark themes and events to them.

I know that. But it was all about the hinting in Gen Urobuchi's stories that made them the way they are. Arc-V is similar in that regards, but even better.

Its also how the series is much a Deconstrucion Fleet of Card Game anime as Madoka Magica was of Magical Girl Classic (NOT warrior, though).

A thought I had: since this series is a Milestone Celebration, will the next series go back to focusing on one type of Extra Deck monster above all others, or will this series start a trend of using them evenly?

No way to know for sure.

We'll just have to wait and see.
