This is a coven for any Tropers besides myself who do stage acting! Let's talk about any recent performances we've done, favorite plays, favorite roles, etc.!

Man it's been a while since I've done stage work. Hoping to get back into it when I get enough money together to attend college.

Oh really when?

I'm about to graduate with my Associate's degree in Theater. Also, my group is writing a play that's already well-received and it's only on the third draft. Once it's produced on a pro stage next year and it's gone through four or five more drafts, I'll have written and acted in a pro gig before thirty! XD

So I got a voice-acting gig through being a Pacific Rim fan and having an extremely mismatched voice and body.

My friend's working on a gig and she asked me to do a reading since 1) I'm Asian and 2) I have a very loud and strong voice. I got huge action vibes based off the Rousing Speech monologue my friend sent me, and so I played one of my readings like Stacker Pentecost.

Today she asked if I watched Pacific Rim or a similar mecha/robot show, and I basically went "SQUEE I PLAYED ONE OF MY TAKES LIKE PACIFIC RIM." So she listened to my recording and went "YAY YOU HAVE AN AWESOME VOICE AND YOU KNOW THE GENRE!"

I don't even know if I'm getting paid yet, but I get to be in a visual-novel with mechaaaaaaaa.

My first recording session for Female-Pentecost is on Friday, whoo!

So it turns out I'm not recording on Friday since my main scene-partner is sick, but one of our voice-actors was in Oh! My Goddess as Belldandy. WHAT.

I feel the urge to watch at least a few episodes of Oh My Goddess in case I ever run into her. Pop-Cultural Osmosis can only do so much.

For those into Broadway musicals, Kerrigan-Lowdermilk released their first physical print songbook!

For those with Youtube, songs include: Anyway which shows the breakdown of a Stepford Smiler, The Girl Who Drove Away,How to Return Home which captures the ennui of university students who live with their parents during the summer and dorm the rest of the school year, and for the tenors there's the downright dreamy Run Away with Me, I don't know if they include the guy or the girl version of Two Strangers, and Rise from Republic! which is Kerrigan-Lowdermilk's musical retelling of the plot of Henry IV (setting it in Ireland in the 1970s.)

I'm in a social-media campaign for promoting "Allegiance: A New Musical." It has Telly Leung, Lea Salonga, and George Takei as the three leads. It's a musical set in the 1940s about the Japanese-American internment camps, and the music is wonderful. I wish I was in NYC or had the money for plane tickets there so I could see it, but alas.

George described his campaign as being in the spirit of Dumbledore's Army, and that was what hooked me EVEN MORE than if he'd just asked for a social-media push to promote Allegiance.

Asian-American fangasming is at an all-time high for me right now. We seriously need this story to be told, because I'm pretty sure in all my textbooks, there were only a few paragraphs in all that even mentioned this part of the war.

Also, Telly Leung is breaking my heart right now. He's 35 but looks 20 years old (!!!), he's gay and in a relationship, he has the most perfect singing voice ever, he's one of maybe three Asian-American leading men, AND he's on the other side of the country. Like, the universe is legit trying to make him as unattainable as possible.

I have a recital this Friday and I am REALLY excited for my scene. It's from the stage adaptation for 'Of Mice and Men' and I am Curley's Wife, who is only referred to as such, and I die dramatically on stage.

I've been inviting people like the dickens, and at least five people are coming! Even though it's dreadfully under-rehearsed, I've been doing what I can on my own and my teacher said the scene is in great shape. There's no way I can totally bomb, and even if the scene does flop, it's only one night and everyone will love me anyway.
