Hey, mind if someone new joins in? No? Good.
My understanding of the sequel or AU debate is it's a sequel set no more than a couple years later, and that Kiyoi is the same character as before, to which I must comment that you'd think she would have learned her lesson after what happened last time (seriously, if any of us got caught up in this and managed to get out, how many would willingly risk getting back in?).
As for episode 2... I did a fairly detailed summary over on SV, and one comment I would like to repeat and expand upon here: Are we sure Urobutcher, Wildbow, and a good chunk of SB and SV's authors had nothing to do with this? Cause seriously, what happened to Chinatsu in the second half sounds like something that comes from one of them...
Also, for extra fun for me, I'm going into this new series half-blind, with what little info I have on the Selector-era stuff being what I can put together from Wikipedia, here, fanfics, and the SV thread (which, I should comment, is in the range of 20-30 posts). Should make my summaries interesting, huh? (Ask if you want to see it and can't be bothered googling it, since it's long and rather spoiler heavy.)
Will the transhumanist future have catgirls? Does Japan still exist? Well, there is your answer. — UnknownAlright, finally got around to seeing Incited. The new system's interesting. Memories are gambled- as well as making up the LRIG's personality, there's a time limit imposed so Selectors must fight each other....
Suzuko's way more passive than Ruko. And Chinatsu's raw deal is more in line with the crap that happened in infected/spread. ...With that said, I have a feeling that Selectors of this world won't be forming any cliques. Guess I'll wait and see.
Kiyoi's appearance in this verse surprised me a bit.

Episode 3 is out, and I was half right about what disappearing means (if you look at my guesses over on SV). Short version, not only do your memories go bye-bye, so does your personality.
Anyone who wants to see my full recap can check it out on Sufficient Velocity's main Wixoss series thread, in the Manga and Anime subforum of the main Fiction Discussion forum. Same basic user name as here, just with a space in it.
Will the transhumanist future have catgirls? Does Japan still exist? Well, there is your answer. — UnknownI was going to say it's not Wixoss without a bit of incest, but that doesn't seem to be going on. Not sure if disappointed or not. And of course you lose your personality along with your memories, which isn't particularly surprising. Though we don't know the details of how that works, which will determine how much despair there really is. Suzuko still can barely keep herself together, though for someone with no experience and doing no practicing she's surprisingly good at the game. Hanna just rolls with everything pretty easily, even if she doesn't know everything.
Well, based on how Narumi is taking Aya Disappearing (I have just decided that it deserves the capital D), it does not leave you in a good state. It wouldn't surprise me if you were basically act like a robot, actually.
And of course I should have expected the personality to be affected; after all, aren't experiences a large part of the makeup of your personality? Getting rid of your memory would mean no experiences, after all... But hey, at least it isn't my worst case possibilities, both of which involve you literally disappearing, as in "vanished off the face of the earth". The difference between the two worst cases was if people would remember you, or if you were basically retgoned. Yeah, good luck undoing that second one...
(And if at least one major character isn't attempting to undo all the disappearances by the end of this, I'll eat my... Hooded jacket. What, I don't have any hats!)
As for Hanna... I think she's just got a logical and rational based personality. She does deny Kagari her request to not finish her, to give her some time to say goodbye, but on the flip side, Hanna also isn't taking Suzuko's refusals to duel her personally from what I can tell.
Will the transhumanist future have catgirls? Does Japan still exist? Well, there is your answer. — UnknownIn which we confirm what we already knew. I don't know why anyone would expect disappearing to be anything other than the death of what makes you you, what with that speech at the start
More effort at having quirky characters, but writer isn't very good at it. Least it looks like Suzu and Chi-chan are finally going to meet next episode
How admirable of Shou to naturally become a walking dead. If it was the original WIXOSS, he could've gotten away with not battling(especially since he wouldn't even be a Selector in that verse), but here he's practically committing suicide.
There are no breaks on the Despair Train for Suzuko.
Hanna's starting to grow on me. She approaches everything with logic.
Ironically, I initially called Shou as Suzuko's brutal and abject lesson on what her path would lead her to (not to mention our answer to "what's the catch when you fail?"). I certainly didn't expect Kagari Desperation Mode or Narumi's psychological subscriptions to show up and preempt him...
Will the transhumanist future have catgirls? Does Japan still exist? Well, there is your answer. — UnknownNew episode.
Summary by me. https://forums.sufficientvelocity.com/posts/7151900/
Hate the site ads forcing pages to reload while I'm composing a post.
Will the transhumanist future have catgirls? Does Japan still exist? Well, there is your answer. — UnknownSo the Bookmaker just wants to see people squirm. Discount Ultih really. Suzuko and Hanna are going to get close by the end of this. Hanna is pretty good at figuring out what happens. In the end Sumida really was just a punk with no skill. Chinatsu really doesn't give a damn. Almost like something happened to her when she almost disappeared. Or she's just really jaded. And of course the LRIGs do indeed replace their owners. Which accounts for the personality change, but not the memory loss since they're made up of memories. So I don't know what to think.

I think something did happen when Chi almost disappeared, and it's almost certainly not a good thing. I'd need to go and rewatch the end of Episode 2 since I think that's when it happened, but I think Chinatsu "realized" that the only one capable of helping her is herself, and that she can't afford to lean on anyone.
Problem with that idea is, that I'm pretty sure this is the kind of series where having someone to lean on can do wonders for mitigating stress and other mental issues.
Will the transhumanist future have catgirls? Does Japan still exist? Well, there is your answer. — UnknownBookkeeper Satomi enjoys the despair of Selectors. Truly Ulith's successor.
Huh, looks like Hanna and Suzuko could become great friends after all. They will still fight each other, I bet.
So LRIGs still take over the Selector's body. So when Shou naturally loses his coins, he'll become hot-blooded.
...Yeah, I can totally see the joy on your face, Chinatsu. Right now, she seems to...disdain everything that reminds her of Suzu. In other words, Meru.
5. Chinatsu is living on the edge. The guys all suck. They're either incompetent or can't commit to battles. Suzuko isn't very good at this whole questions business. Now what sort of job is Chinatsu taking up? Can't be good.
...I'm thinking that, given what Creepy was charting out earlier, and what she said at the end, the "job" Chinatsu has is from Creepy, arranging a match with Suzuko.
I'm also thinking that Chinatsu doesn't believe the BS she's spouting anywhere near as much as she thinks she does.
Will the transhumanist future have catgirls? Does Japan still exist? Well, there is your answer. — UnknownSo has this season improved any? I only watched the first two episodes but I didn't find them that engaging nor did I care for any of the characters.
I'd say it's improved a bit, but it's still nothing special. If you didn't like the first few episodes you're not going to like the rest of it
Football: Where aspiring dreams go to die. Seriously most of the time, whenever a dude suffers a serious leg injury that prevents him from competing in his favourite sport, football seems to be the go-to sport for broken dreams.
I'd like to believe Chinatsu doesn't fully buy what she herself is saying, but blaming and wanting to erase Suzuko for placing shackles on her is sorely unfair.
"Honest" is the best counter against "Blind"...is what I thought. Makes me wonder if "Berserk" can be countered.
6. The edge oozing from Chinatsu is so sharp it hurts. Though even she has difficulty taking advantage of a little girl. Satomi's intelligence network must be bigger than what I first thought if he knows people who haven't joined him. Relations between Suzuko and Hanna have worsened. Oh dear, fight between the two leads already. Chinatsu really wants Suzu to hate her. I'd say Suzu found a clever Berserk counter, but I can't understand the logic behind the game under normal circumstances, let alone attacking the battlefield. Pity that Suzu didn't use Honest to get some answers from Chinatsu. Wait, I thought time stopped during a battle. Now it's not? Cop-out.
7. Chinatsu continues to grow her edge levels. Hanna ends up being easily bribed with food. Sumida 2 is working for Satomi for some reason? That will need an explanation. All the guys are garbage in this. They just completely cripple themselves.
I really hate Chinatsu.
Loves feel-good animation a whole lot.So does she~
OH GOD WHY AM I A CAR!? - ForzareHanna becomes Suzu's sensei, this is not going to end well. She'll probably win the last coin only to find that winning is not much better than losing.
The best way to get into Hanna's good graces is through her stomach. Especially hard-to-obtain foodstuffs. Their interactions this time around were quite adorable.
Chinatsu's now displaying loan shark qualities.
Rio, his worst possible opponent! Aya's reactions were hilarious, especially at the end.
...Honestly, if Kazuki were a Selector in this verse, he would run circles around the other male Selectors.

8. Sad backstory for Hanna too of course. Shirai is still pathetic. Chinatsu is losing The Edge. So Satomi was a LRIG. He really is Ulith's LRIG counterpart. Seems like he has some sort of revenge scheme planned against the Selectors? Bye bye onni-chan. You sucked like all the other guys. Satomi doesn't count because he was originally a girl. Kiyoi shows off her veteran skills. Piruluk looks different, though that should be expected. I wonder if we'll get Satomi vs Kiyoi since they're the two strongest characters right now. Kiyoi is definitely the one we already know. Hopefully we learn what she's up to next time.
More than the character design... the credits tell us that she shares a name and seiyuu with the selector character, and the OP directly associates her with Piruluk
And a popular but unimportant secondary character is exactly the sort of person you'd expect to be brought back for this sort of sequel
