Welp. I sure hope this comes out in America.waii

Not that I'm good at the Zero games, mind you. But I love how fast-paced and flashy everything is.

Hmm...I have yet to see the page. Whenever I searched for 'gunvolt', so far only this thread appeared.

Reminds me of Mega Man Zero/Mega Man ZX crossed with Hard Corps: Uprising.

Also, Gun Volt is the name of the first Giant Mook you face in Mega Man X.

So, I noticed that the words that come up on the super move portraits appear to be haiku describing the attack.

And then I noticed that a bunch of them are slightly off, syllable-wise. That bugs me a little.

For example:

"Lightning that flickers / Like a star, and purges all / That violate its realm"

That's 5/7/6, Geeves. Back to the drawing board.

I have a message from another time...

From what I've heard, the localization has been pretty unremarkable in general.

[up] Basically. I am still pretty sour that they cut out most of the dialogue.

True. There was probably a charm to the game that got lost because of that.

Kinda reminds me of Kid Icarus Uprising actually, how they had those conversations throughout the game that gave the game a extra sense of charm. I suppose I'm only left wondering (until I see translations) what we missed. Someone will do it, eventually.

Heh, I wouldn't be surprised if people would complain that there's constant text in the middle of battle and boss fights. Sadly, I wish we could see more of the bosses. I loved how three of those Seven Swordsmen actually had some form of importance of the plot then just being roadbumps for us to bowl over.

Anyway, I got it, and I love it. The game isn't RUINED FOREVER by the lack of that extra text. It still works, and I really like this game. They did do a fantastic job on it and created a very fun game. Mighty Gunvolt's a nice side dish too.

To everyone who's on the fence, go for it and pick it up. You will enjoy it. (And if you are a purist, remove the pre-evasion pendant, and Good luck)

Since it's page one, I really don't wanna speak about the ending, but oh boy, I did not see it coming. Me Feels. And Me so wants a sequel to this. I like the setting and I wanna see more.

Also, things you didn't know about gameplay! You might figure these things out as you go, but others well...someone had to tell me / see to figure out "you could do that?"

  • The spider tank's charger thingy is one-shoted by the Astraphere. It's also a secret bonus too. You can two hit kill it if you use the luxcalibur on the main body, then Astraphere the charger.
  • You can jump through Nova's rings.
  • You can shoot Copen's regular bullets. CAN does not mean recommend.
  • When Zonda jumps into a mirror and starts lobbing shots at you, hide in the corner and dodge xer's bullets by baiting one in the air then one in the corner. Takes a bit to get the timing right but you'll dodge it easily doing this.
  • You can get behind Jota's Limit Break by jumping behind him. His sword has no hitbox when it's forming. Seriously, it works
  • Wanna stop getting petrified by a certain boss? Hint: What do you do when Medusa looks at you?
  • You wanna stop Nemesis Fang? Destroy one of the two maw things when the boss is lobbing shots at you (and making his maws bigger).
  • Wanna get the Media Tower's "lighting ascent" and "Waste not launch not" challenges easy? Simple. Go into Anthem mode and air hop through the level.
  • When you are in anthem mode, equip the overflash pendant. It's not like you're worrying about drain anymore...
  • After getting the "chaos emeralds", equip the result before the final level and don't take it off. This took me three runs to figure out
  • Lawl at the "midboss" of the final level
  • The boss of the gauntlet is determined by how fast you get there I believe.
  • I still don't get where they came up with that Japanese high school level in Mighty Gunvolt. Love the track and wish there was a regular version of it.

And Glitch! When equipping the chargeguard pendant+ , if you go into the re-charge animation and immediately go into a dash, you'll have invincibility frames during a part of that dash. Closest thing we'll get to a shadow dash.

Pretty good so far. Though the controls take some getting used to. I also like the deliberate engrish on Mighty Gunvolt

It's pretty hard, but yeah, it's pretty good.

That being said, I hope they expand on the story and make some aspects of gameplay (reward screen) less annoying.

I still need to beat Nova with that necklace on, but I can't muster up the nerve.

I'm not too good at sidescrollers, and not being able to rely on Prevasion is killing me.

I took it off rather quickly since I felt it cheapened the difficulty a lot.

I beat the blue, red, green and yellow guy. The green guy was the hardest and the first attempt I only won because I got song-saved. I tried him a second time but I seem to have a really tough time avoiding his multi-lasers.

The yellow guy wasn't that bad once you learned how to stop his special.

The blue guy has an easy to figure out pattern but I kept taking damage whenever he dove down. Not that hard but I did die on him.

The red guy I beat first attempt, he seemed pretty simplistic but aggressive. I notice he took away my energy with his attacks more than the other ones. How come? Is it because he's fire?

The human dude was kind of tough mainly because of his silly rapid shot which seems awfully difficult to avoid. The rest of his attacks not so much since they're just taken from the other bosses but that was giving me issues. That said he doesn't change up his strategy too much so once you get him down he's not hard...at least not this time.

So far the game is a lot of fun, reminds me of MMX 4/5.

Screw the jerkwad who thinks that putting bottomless pits in a boss fight is a cool idea.

That alone made blue guy redux the hardest boss up till that point(and the only one that took me more than 3 tries) and ruined the final boss's 2nd form for me. The 2nd case is even worse as you have to fight his first form all over again. I don't even want to finish him now since the fight feels so cheaply designed in clear contrast to the other bosses who were designed better.

Also what happened to the pink and orange dude? How come I didn't get to fight them?

Apparently, a LOT of the game's story was cut when they brought it to the States.

Yeah. There was a bunch of dialog up during game play that they cut out. They didn't have time to dub the game so they simply removed it because "some players found it intrusive". I'm still trying to find a translation of them.

[up][up]You don't fight the Zonda(pink guy) because he was used to build up that asshat Copen. For Carrera, there is a necklace you have to wear in final stages to unlock the actual final stage and you can't take it off once. You get this by finding gems in the first seven stages.

I just had trouble with the water and fire level's locations, although you said seven so I'm guessing either sin city or the first level had one too?

The final boss 2nd form is such BS it kind of kills any drive to actually beat him.

They are in the seven levels after the intro stage. After you find them, talk to Joule, and she will give you the necklace. I'm still pissed we never get to fight Zonda.
