Hmmmm...that's pretty good and it does make it look less like a combat move. I'd be fine with the swap.
I like the suggestion.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanIt's an improvement.
Check out my fanfiction!Definite improvement on the image for me.
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.Shall I go ahead with the switch or must I wait for some mod action?
Wait for a few more votes.
Check out my fanfiction!I don't like it as much.
Please elaborate.
Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan.I like the current, not so big on the suggestion
Suggestion is a definite improvement.
The current looks a bit too busy for my liking
I think the current shows shutting someone up better. The suggestion makes it look like she wasn't saying anything before he covered her mouth.
>>The suggestion makes it look like she wasn't saying anything before he covered her mouth.
The trope is about muffling sounds and oftentimes one person wants to prevent the other one from screaming out of surprise. The suggested image depicts such a scenario.
Since most of the time the victim will be female, I don't really understand why the trope refers to "him" instead of "her" though.
Definite improvement .
Also really like the new name as well. But that's a task for the TRS, eroock.

Can't see the issue with "him" over "her" though "their" I guess would be better than either but yeah, that's a TRS concern.
Putting A Hand Over Her Mouth is a redirect to "his". Redirects Are Free, and better than a rename 99% of the time.

Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan. If that's the case, why not change the redirect?
And are Redirects Of Redirects Are Free?
1) Change it to what?
2) No, redirects should always lead to a real page, not another redirect.
I was referring to changing the redirect to "Hand Gagging".
It is proposed to be a universal term, and I meant that both redirects would lead to Putting a Hand over His Mouth, if we must keep both the "his" and "her" redirects, not that one or the other would become a dead-end, long link, or a Double Redirect.
Of course, using the new redirect alone would hopefully remove such inconveniences.

Why would you change a redirect instead of adding another?! It's not like there is a limit on the number of redirects to an atricle.
Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan.Well that's what I meant in the first place.
But wasn't sure if we allowed redirect stacks here.
So, just to clarify... how many redirects are active on that page?

Three: Putting A Hand Over Her Mouth, Hand Gag, and Hand Gagging all redirect to Putting a Hand over His Mouth. Alternative titles are listed at the bottom of an article.
Please read Administrivia.Creating New Redirects if you have other questions about redirects.
Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan.I count 6 ayes and 2 nays...any other votes?

I'm so glad we can talk about redirects and ignore my suggestion.
Treelo, what suggestion? Using "their"? That's still talking about redirects. And the name of the page is still a TRS matter.

Here's the original closed image picking thread https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/posts.php?discussion=1342640936059674400
I'd like to propose a new image, that has more to do with actual meaning of the trope which is muffling the sound of a person. The current image looks like an accidental combat situation.
What about this one?
Also, it's a poor choice of a trope name. I like the suggestion here: Hand Gagging
