Canonically Caitlin Snow's version of Killer Frost is a heat vampire she doesn't really want to kill it happens because she sucks the heat out of everything.

Well... comics Caitlin has a sympathetic origin, and sympathetic powers, but is still a major jackass even given the fact that she has to hurt people to survive.

Personality wise, show Caitlin seems more like Crystal Frost anyway, who had a more sympathetic (if incredibly 60's in such a way that would probably need a lot of changing) approach to With Great Power Comes Great Insanity.

On the plus side for fans of Caitlin staying good, it would probably take a lot of a finagling for her to end up as so far fallen as to become a Joker-esque "kill all the things for the hell of it" character like Louise Lincoln was.

But if Wally is retconned into existence, that newly created history might include a reason why he was standing right next to Barry when the lightning hit and got a dose of Speed Force himself.

somehow I doubt that'll be it. honestly, that would have changed literally everything in the show, it all could have and would have played out differently (or they'd cop out) and there'd been too much time spent explaining what things were different. Unless Wally somehow ...kept it a secret for 15 months? I guess they could just say " nah, it all went as before but two speedsters"

I mean, imagine Power Outage. Unless Wally also got drained, there'd have been a speedster able to take Tockman out within moments. (though without almost dying Eddie, where would Iris have got the gun?)

Or Out of Time? how would that have gone down?

adding kittens that can't talk or think like humans for the most part screws with Canon enough to shake it all to bits, imagine what inserting another speedster from the start could.

it's gonna be enough explaining how different things are with no Eobard. I'm assuming Barry retains memories of previous timeline and obviously his powers....which...but he wouldn't have been in the Lab if his mother were not murdered, he'd not have pursed being a CSI, he said as much, so Nora's got to still be dead in this timeline (her actress isn't listed on the IMBD for the first episode, so that's helping my guess) so...what's changed in this timeline and what hasn't? My guess is that the singularity....merged two timelines? sort of? some things are the same—nora's dead, Eddie's dead, henry in jail, Barry's the flash, but then real harrison wells is around somewhere and...I dunno

screw time travel paradoxes.

Now my brain hurts.

Weisman tends to be good about letting his characters experience trauma and be effected by things. One great thing about his work is that things have consequences, and heroes make mistakes.

For Wally... I honestly think he'll show up either because something is going down with his family and he needs to stay in Central City with the other Wests for a bit, or Earth 2.

[up][up] Stuff like that is part of the reason I doubt the Time Crash is actually going to change anything significant (as well as why Barry saving his mom was doomed from the start): tv shows have a much harder time selling rebooted or inexplicably very different continuity than comics, especially immediately after the very first season which is explicitly setting the foundation/premise for the series itself.

precisely. it'd be too much.

also, usefulish site I found. transcripts—just of the dialog and some sound affects, it seems, and few indicators of who is talking unfortunately, but accurate enough— of all 23 episodes out so far. not much good for anything other than looking up exact quotes, really, but still, might come in handy.

[up]

Should that have a Sarcasm Mode pothole, or are you serious?

We'll see how this goes truthfully. Iris is kinda the Lana Lang of The Flash (2014) right now, but this might be her chance to shake that off.

Though it's on the writers to make that believable.

I'd say Iris has pretty much been rescued from the scrappy heap. She was never as annoying as Lana was post season 3

There are some who would still agree.

I do feel things improved when she learned the secret and brought up many points the rest of us had made.

Oddly enough, her managing to talk Barry into getting back up when Grodd was giving him the psychic noogie was probably meant to be Foreshadowing for her new role.

It will be interesting to see her slide into that role, and while it's Team Flash, it also means she'll have more meaningful interactions with the team besides Barry. It could also lead to an arc about her managing her new role.

Iris was never as annoying as Lana was. For one thing, Iris never whined and complained to Barry about "secrets and lies" for the millionth time. For another, even though Iris's investigation was superfluous for most of the season (she was learning stuff the audience already knew and everyone kept her in the dark for "reasons"), thankfully she was let into the secret before the first season ended and quickly became a part of the team.

Compare that to Lana Lang on Smallville, who not only didn't get the secret until, when, the last season she was on? I don't remember, honestly, when she learned the secret, because by that point I was so freaking tired of her storyline and how she was possessed by a witch and then got married to Lex and oh god why.

Well, the thing is, whatever Wells was, he knew how to get Barry fired up and inspire him to push himself and get the job done (for good reason of course).

He also had a good understanding of what Barry could do, so he could always give him the best advice. Now, Barry knows a lot more about his powers than he did when he started, and Caitlin and Cisco can probably fill the gaps in theoretical science knowledge, but that's still a huge loss in terms of how to advise Barry on what to do.

That being said, it makes sense in a way, because Iris has shown she can inspire Barry when he needs that extra push.

He doesn't need to be a 24/7 mentor. Plus one Flash will presumably be stuck in the other Flash's world, so unless it's a tawdry guest cameo, who better to help Barry understand his powers?

Mentoring is fine, but Barry going to needs to start working things out on his own.

@Iris/Lana: From I've gathered, in the first season weren't any major issues with Lana, the problem came from her being a blatant creator's pet later on. Honestly, Iris hasn't been around long to make a good comparison, but is one that comes up frequently alongside Laurel and Barbara.

Yeah, Barbara went in a completely different direction from Lana.

The writers just gave up on her and made her as awful (or maybe worse) as we all thought she was.

Got an entertaining Cat Fight out of it, so I'm not totally complaining, but they didn't seem to want to try and fix her.
