I keep trying to play Mira as The Chessmaster, but apparently I'm pretty bad at it since everyone seems to hate her. I like her story, but it makes me realize that I'd get chewed up and spat out if ever dropped into a Deadly Decadent Court.

Also, I've had both Rodrick and Ethan defy the Whitehills at every opportunity. I just couldn't resist the opportunity to hit the Whitehill soldier and Gryff while standing back up every time Rodrick got knocked down. I even told Royland to attack and he managed to drop a couple of soldiers. Gryff actually looks terrified when he realizes that the outnumbered and crippled man isn't afraid of him. I've just decided that there's no point playing nice with these people and will openly defy them every time the game offers me a chance. It may not be the politically expedient thing to do, but the Forresters and thinly-veiled stand-ins for the Starks anyways so Honor Before Reason will be their motto.

Plus you have House Glenwood to help you once the marriage goes through.

So who is everone's guess for the traitor? My first instinct is the Maester, but I have a sneaking suspicion Whitehill might be using Ryon to blackmail Elissa into spying for him. I can't imagine Royland betraying the family and, despite Duncan being a Bitch in Sheep's Clothing, I doubt he'd turn traitor either.

Wait. Why did Tom want me to burn the letter? I thought the whole point was to get it to either send it to get money for Ironrath, or to secure Maldryn's alliance. Why is burning it even an option?

Man, I really want Asher to make Dany like him. She's pretty much the sole reason I kept reading the books after the red wedding.

[up]

Tyrion was just arrested for murdering Joffrey. That letter ties Mira to him. Anyone in league with him suddenly looks likes an accessory to Joffrey's murder. Burning the letter gets rid of the evidence that Tyrion and Mira were allied in any way and thus diverts suspicion from herself.

Okay, yeah. But... Why was that the first option, and not, like, something Mira realizes might be possible once she sees the brazier in her room? It just feels like she and coalboy instantly jumped to a decision I didn't realize was possible and that took me out of it a little.

So, is there any reason to keep Britt alive? I was tied between that and kicking him off the wall and I eventually submitted to my desires.

I didn't attack the Whitehills, but I stood up the first time and stayed down the second. I trust Gwyn Whitehill for the moment. At the very least, keeping Gryff off his guard is valuable to me.

I've two theories for who's the traitor. Its either whomever you didn't choose for Sentinel, making that choice earlier on more interesting, or its going to be Duncan. Which would then put intrigue onto who you told about the North Grove and etc earlier. If only Duncan knows, he's going for it for the Whitehills and, if you told Lady Forrester, she's on guard. Has anyone told her about it? I'm curious.

My guess on what the North Grove it? I'm guessing its the means to produce more Ironwood Trees or potentially supplies that are even stronger than Ironwood.

Ok, so, if the point to burning the letter is because it removes all evidence from having a deal with Tyrion, then what the bloody hell is the advantage to keeping the letter? Is there any?

Sending it north? It's an order from the crown and it'll take a while for news of Tyrion's arrest to make it north.

Also of course there's no reason to keep Britt alive! Asshole killed your family.

Not getting executed for killing a member of the Night's Watch? Not breaking your vows, as Gared's gods are a very cruel bunch indeed when it comes to that. Whether they exist or not, Gared seems religious enough.

I told that guy I was going to kill him and told Jon I can't promise not to kill him. Then, as soon as Gared and Britt were alone, I attacked him and kicked him off the wall. Fuck that guy. I was going to desert anyway. I might as well get some payback before I do.

Speaking of the Whitehills, while they're well written enough for me to love hating them, this game needs more Grey And Gray Morality.

That was long.

  • I saved Beshka. I figured that Malcolm could take care of a few mooks easier than Beshka could fend off a dragon. I also play Asher as having some distrust of his uncle for letting him be exiled.
  • I mended my relationship with Finn and kept Cotter's secret.
  • I played the good handmaiden and refused to speak with Tyrion.
  • I walked away from Britt, though judging by the next episode trailer, he died from his wounds anyway.
  • I choose to submit. Gryff thinks he's dealing with a cowardly cripple. Heh.
  • I saved the decree. After Rodrik's speech about how everyone is trying to help, I couldn't throw away the only thing Mira's done to save House Forrester.
  • What happens if you didn't save Coal Boy/Tom? Does he manage to survive anyway? Does Mira blackmail Damien into working for her?
  • I'm playing Gared is being relatively honest, so I'm going to try avoid deserting. Though after what happened with Britt, he might not have a choice.

If that means making every character an unlikable jerkass like the books and show, no thanks.

If it means making the Whitehills' position slightly more understandable, I could get behind that. They seem to be building up to that, at least, what with all the talk of the Forrestor's lording their position over them, and Gwyn seeming to be decent, but I don't think Lord Whitehill or his son are salvageable.

I like the Forresters as they are. I just think the Whitehills need a bit of nuance.

Ok, finished my more erratic tempestuous playthrough!

  • If you didn't stab the Lannister guard, Coal Boy still appears, but he has a gash across his cheek and he's all sad-angry-puppy about it.
  • It seems there's no way Margaery's not pissed at you. In this playthrough, I told Tyrion to bugger off about an alliance. Then I refused to leave Margaery with him, and he totally blabbed about the decree, earning Margaery's death glare. Fuck you, Tyrion. I'm curious if choosing silence the whole time somehow averts it, but that seems unlikely.
  • Man oh man, it serves no purpose beyond personal satisfaction, but cracking the Whitehill goon across the face with the goblet is awesome. There's a crunch and blood sputters from his mouth! It reminded me of Oz when Schillenger attacks Beecher and Beecher bashes him to the ground with his cane. Speaking of which, c'mon Roderick, please smash somebody in the face with your walking stick! I kept getting up this time; way more epic. Gryff sounds increasingly unnerved and flailing. Roderick gets more snot beaten out of him, but so worth it.
  • Meh....Beschka is way better to save.
  • Is there any way Britt doesn't die? Just curious. My first playthrough I did everything to not kill him and he still died. My second playthrough was joyful slaughter.

So the trailer for the episode features lady forester saying we have no allies, and then a shot of Ellana Glenmore, yeah not good. This occurred after I submitted to Gryf, but only after he threatened to hurt Talia. I told Gwyn that I want peace, however I have no intent on keeping this promise.

I will work towards peace as much as I am able, but I know this setting well enough that peace will never be an outcome and, more than likely, Whitehill will react poorly to the idea.

As for the traitor, it's totally your mom. She's the only one you have an option of telling about it so it's obviously her. I still told her everything. Rodrik feels like he'd be completely honest with his family.

Actually, while we're on the subject, did anyone else have any in-character stupid decisions they've made? I had Gared tell Jon Snow about his mission because he felt like Jon could be an ally.

I don't think so. Game of Thrones is all about contrasts between its cast. Compare Cersei to Margeary; both powerful female figures in the series, but where one hates society's gender roles and detests her gender, the other uses those gender roles to her advantage to have nearly every man wrapped around her finger. If it were the Mother, it'd be Catelyn Stark all over again with hardly anything to contrast. And too much of 'What an Idiot' to me. I totally think its Duncan and he's trying to get the North Grove for himself.

It could also be the Maester. But the more I think about it, the more I'm starting to think it's Elissa. The fact that she's the least immediately obvious suspect means she's probably the traitor.

[up] Just because its the least obvious suspect doesn't mean she's the traitor. In fact, I'd be REALLY disappointed if she turns out to be the traitor because that's just stupid. The ONE PERSON who is practically frothing at the mouth and sobbing every time the Whitehill take a massive shit on House Forester's stoop is the one who's actually working for them? The same woman who cowed Lord Whitehill in a single sentence and surprise appearance? The woman who tells you to kill every Whitehill down to the babes in their beds? SHE is the one working for them; the man who told her point blank 'You brought this on yourselves' while she's cradling her still warm dead child?

Bull. Shit.

Honestly, Royland's probably the only person that I fully trust. He's just so stubbornly anti-Whitehill that I can't imagine him being a spy.

I also seriously doubt that it's Lady Forester, just because it would be a completely ridiculous plot twist. I know some people think that she's spying in order to keep her family safe, but considering everything that's gone down, she'd have to be a complete and utter idiot to trust the Whitehills in any way whatsoever.

The safe choice seems to be the Maester. He is a bit shifty and has had the least development of the council. He was also noticeably absent during Ethan's murder.

But, my personal vote goes towards Duncan being the traitor, simply because that'd probably be the worst case scenario. After all, he was the one whom Lord Forester trusted the most and he happens to know the most about the Northern Grove. This is Game of Thrones, so I'm going to assume that the traitor is the one who would be able to damage our house the most.
