Does anyone else like Bullock a little more than they like Gordon in this show?

[up] Yo!

Bullock is awesome. He has depth, complexity and, above all, competency. To me, he is Spike, Jayne and Riker all rolled together.

OK, maybe I shouldn't damn him with false praise, but I think he is more interesting than Gordon. He comes from a Wretched Hive and knows how it works, but nevertheless he has some remnant of hope and a sense of justice. He's dealt with scumbags for so long that he's an expert on how to deal with them. And above all he's loyal. He won't abandon his Blood Brothers no matter the cost.

What we obtain too cheap, we esteem too lightly.

You could make a strong argument that without Bullock Gordon becomes another victim of Gotham's urban malaise. Bullock was the young firebrand, the guy on the white horse being the best cop he could possibly be, until the grimy reality of the city stole much of his idealism and verve. Not all of it though, he's got enough left in the tank to help Gordon avoid the worst parts of life on the GCPD until Jim manages to stir the department out of its decades long doldrums, helped along of course by one Mister Harvey Bullock Calling them out.

Yeah, Bullock is here to tell Jim when he is right to be a white knight, and when he is being stupid acting like one. Basically, if Bullock snarks or openly complains, Jim is right. If Bullock gets angry, Jim is stupid.

On the other hand it's Gordon that has motivated Bullock to start breaking out of his cynical malaise and make an upgrade to Knight in Sour Armor so it's not all one way.

That's true. You could say that Bullock is as awesome as he is because Gordon forced him out of his cynicism.

I mean, would the Bullock of the early series have bothered to join Jim in Storming the Castle?

Jim, whether you like him, or see him as a boring shit, is likely going to have a very positive influence on Gotham, though not as much as that dude in the cape.

How in the hell is Penguin going to justify/explain/convince Maroni about suddenly having control over Fish's place? Nevermind the fact that Maroni is already suspicious of him (unbeknownst to Penguin), but just how he thinks thats going to make sense even without it will be interesting to see....

Colm Feore has been cast as the Dollmaker.

They are changing his name to Dr. Francis Dulmacher.

Arrow used the Batman villain name Barton Mathis he was the third Dollmaker.

Anton Schott was the second Dollmaker he was a Supergirl villain.

Marcel Mannequin was the first Dollmaker he was a Plastic Man villain.

Jeez, Nygma has to be trying to be creepy at this point.

Oh, hey. The corrupt cop is Flass.

Am I the only one that felt bad when they were making fun of Nygma.

Sure he can be creepy but you still have to feel bad when they do that to him.

Honestly, I think they could have laid it on less thick with the cops being assholes.

Flass should consider himself lucky. This is a lot better than what happened to him in the comics.

The dialog, the character names, the ADD plot. I'm not the first to suggest that this show needs MST 3 K riffing.

Dulmacher. (Face Palm)

The show also has no reason to exist. Wonder how they're going to have Batman show up much like Enterprise had the Borg and Ferengi show up.

Seriously, this show needs Crazy Steve.

While I admit there's an incredible appeal to Crazy Steve that can't be denied, I don't think that will help.

Also, dick move by Selina. She probably thinks she's being real tough because she's so cynical and all.

2/3's of the way through, and... now this show's making me paranoid.

Geez, the way Butch just laughs, along with the rape implication. He's been my guess for for awhile now now, but I kept saying, "No, he's too f'cking fat to be that guy." I just can't be sure anymore. He's laughing in every damn scene, and I'm almost certain he had a purple hue in the first few episodes.

Ah ha, Nygma. Come Season 2 he'll be shouting, "I'm WEARING YOU DOWN GIRL!"

[up] Yeah, unless we learn his actor wore make up to make him appear 40kgs heavier than he is, and they explain that Zsasz's games turned him into a nutcase.

[up][up] I still think Selina was lying here. I mean, she seems to have had some kind of realization after Bruce's gift. Like, being his friend and playing a bit with his feelings is okay, but Bruce reciprocating those feelings and him wanting to change the way she lives is too much for the satisfied Street Urchin she is. So she used the first thing that came to her mind so that he would leave her alone.

She is a teenager, after all.

[up]x? I don't think Fish will have her revenge on Cobblepot, but I think she will have her revenge on Mrs Kapelput, before Penguin terminates her.

I want to see more drunken Penguin montages. I'm considering making a list of my favorite Penguin moments. A good one would definitely be a scene earlier in the show's run where someone (Fish, maybe) is yelling at someone and we just cut to Penguin strutting down the street with the goofiest music possible.

[up][up]

Oh I totally agree that she was lying, and that's why it frustrates me.

I mean, even before the assassins came up, she clearly had no faith in the idea of Bruce's parents being brought to justice. Combined with what you just mentioned, and it makes sense why she did what she did.

She probably thinks she's better than Bruce because she understands what the world is really like, but when she had a chance to maybe improve things, she turned away. That's the thing about places like Gotham: the corruption runs so deep, that everyone has just gotten used to it and think it can't be changed, so they do nothing. The ones who try to do something (Bruce, Gordon, and that dude who came forward as a witness) either get their hopes dashed, end up doing something they aren't proud of in order to accomplish anything, or end up getting killed.

I also totally agree that Fish will target Oswald's mom. It's been a pretty obvious move from the get-go, and I actually expected it to happen in the episode.

Fo' real. I guess they gotta pad that shit out over the rest of the season. I'm kinda disappointed we won't be getting a Flass v Gordon smackdown, barring exceptional circumstances.

Fun fact: Ben Mc Kenzie played batman in the film version of year one.

Funner fact: That movie was fucking awesome and you should totally see it if you haven't already.
