Well, it does show such a fic.
It "Needs" an image for the same reasons that all the other image-bearing tropes have one. "Need it"/"Don't need it" is not a good way to argue against specific images.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI think the image is hilarious. It captures the lack of respect that lemons have on this site.
Found a Youtube Channel with political stances you want to share? Hop on over to this page and add them. It's a picture of a lemon. Don't see a problem.
Check out my fanfiction! There's more to the image than just the words. The way it's written (scrawly handwriting, soft pencil, lined composition paper) all contribute to illustrating the reputation lemon fics have. Those aspects wouldn't be there if it was truly "just text". And there's nothing contrary to our content policy in it.

...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.I think it's about as good as it can get.
Would you rather have fan art depicting the described scene?
Image Source. Please update whenever an image is changed.Yeah, I think this is fine for the reasons Larkmarn and Maddy explained.
"Yeah, it's a shame. Here we are in an underground cave with all these lasers, and instead of having a rave we're using it for evil."What about a censored example?◊
I don't get the connection to the concept.
maybe bad example. Its princess Peach riding a "Mushroom".
I mean a censored example of fanart describing a lemon, what Rethikr said in 7.

I was being sarcastic. I think the current image already provides more imagery than I'd like to be in my head.
Image Source. Please update whenever an image is changed.Oh! My mistake Sorry.
Think you were missing the point wildly anyway.
Oh, I think I understand this trope plenty... its just the really accurate images I knew I wouldn't feel comfortable using here, censored or not!

Yeah but Lemons are the written version of Rule 34/63 images, it wouldn't work to use them regardless of censorship.

what about a safe for work image?

Eh, I think I'll support keeping the current. I don't think we need to switch, and the censored versions ... consequently don't look like lemons.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard Feynmanoh yes I support the current too, if I forgot to mention that already.
If you support the current, why ask for a SFW version?
Because, while I feel the current is fine as is, I took Rethkir seriously and tried looking for what he suggested literally. But, in a clever, SFW version so I wouldn't accused of lewdness... again.
I've already told you internet sarcasim is a strange beast to me.

I'm another vote for the current.
Looks like people are generally okay with the current and against a change. Locking up.
That was the amazing part. Things just keep going.
Aside from the "image" being nothing but pure text, the writings in question appears to be an excerpt/introduction of a Lemon Fan fic. Nothing illicit shown, of course, so it probably don't count as NSFW, but the entry itself manifests as some sort of example, even though the page isn't supposed to have examples, as per its page note.
Not sure why it even needs an image. After all, its "relatives" are imageless
