The idea of Reincarnations of Joan of Arc and Oda Nobunaga teaming up (and possibly falling in love) is crazy enough, but by adding reincarnations of other historical (and pseudo-historical) figures and putting them all in a Feudal Future Humongous Mecha setting makes this completely and utterly ridiculous. Fortunately, this looks like it will be the kind of ridiculousness I enjoy to watch.
According to the trope page, it was originally a stage play by Shoji Kawamori, so yeah, this is going to be completely insane.

Some people are calling it the Valvrave of this season.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gFmGNqji4u0I can see why; but I always thought Valvrave lacked something. I feel it was still trying to pretend it was serious, which lessened it's insanity factor. However, I think this show knows it's crazy and doesn't bother pretending it isn't.
I'd say it is more absurd than Valvrave, but neither of them are the height of seriousness.
Note: Melodrama and/or death do not equal seriousness.

The animation is off in just the wrong ways. Same with the character designs. Way too heavy a dose of clichés as well, tastes of bad melodrama. The mecha designs are uninspired.
Still, I sorta like the idea of two separate worlds, one full of western historical fantasy stuff the other same with the eastern equivalent. I think I'd like it more without the SF tech tho.
Bonus points for the gliding mounts, those were somewhat inspired.

- What the hell is Q-Vier doing here?
- That's some very mix-e-matched tech levels they have there.
- That dude deserved it. For laughting off such a serious warning.
- Jeanne's treatement is very cliche. But at least some people who see her value.
- What are the chances of the king being actually a lady?
- Looting is not wrong, even when directed at your own allies.
- That mech looks positively murderous.
- It was Invevitable!
That about cover my first impressions of the show.
Kawamori, stahp. Seriously just STAHP.
You tried to justify AKB 48 as a proper pedestal despite the purpose of girl groups in Japan, and then you single handedly BOTCHED Aquarion lore with EVOL, and NOW you want to tamper with historical figures?
No. JUST NO.
Same as usual.... Wing it.Will you be happier if you make up the names of all the characters?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gFmGNqji4u0About 50/50.
Not sure if it would make me any happier. All I see is another cannonball coming from a fallen creator.
Same as usual.... Wing it.If Valvrave was so awesome as this I would watch second season. Only if it wasn't so Otome-like...
First impressions: Interesting historical parallels in the opening. I wonder if this is foreshadowing of some kind?
I really fucking like this MC. Rather than the typical "Protect My Friends" or "Fight For Peace" drivel a mecha MC is expected to espouse, he decides he's going to go to war because he can do it better.
Kuso Onna Get!
Overall: With the "Magic as technology" aspect, I'm getting some vaguely Aquarion-ish vibes from this. Hopefully this is a big enough project that other people are keeping Kawamori in check - I'm intrigued enough by this concept that I want it to succeed.

I enjoyed the first episode. I can easily see this ending up terrible, but I think I'll be watching it until that happens
>> Kawamori >> Expecting restraint.
That's like praying that he doesn't take a drag of whatever he was smoking during EVOL...
Still, there's posibility in what we have so far.

He's clearly still smoking something; I just hope it entertains.
Eh, for whatever falws EVOL had, it was entertaining.
"No, the Singularity will not happen. Computation is hard." -Happy EntI found it more amusing how, while the "Eastern" stars had people based on historical personalities who made SENSE being in the same time frame(they all lived in the Sengoku era), the "Western" star had King Arthur ordering around Leonardo da Vinci, who was helping Jean de'Arc, using Magellan's ship.
Are we sure that this was really just a play Kawamori wrote, and not another product of his weed sessions?

Hey, at least it's all Medieval, although I suppose that Magellan and da Vinci are pushing it.
Also, with the dreaming and alternate stuff seen, people are predicting some reincarnation stuff is going on.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gFmGNqji4u0Well they're not ALL from the same period. According to The Other Wiki, one of the characters is Himiko, who lived waaaaaaaay before the Sengoku era.
But yeah, it's probably Creator Provincialism.

I'm gonna be honest and say I intend to bow out of this one.
Tarot motives, APOLLO expy (no thank you), Suzuno AGAIN, ridiculous schizo tech and characters, nope. Not my stuff.
Same as usual.... Wing it.There speaks a poster with no joy in their soul.
Seriously, we had Sengoku-era Zakus and insane trumpet-playing, taser-wielding Leo da Vinci. What's not to love?
What's precedent ever done for us?This was awesome, mechas, historical figures, space travel, Jean's rack, space travel. If this keeps up it could be the anime of the season.
Fuck.
Well, there go my expectations.
I'm honestly not sure Japanese know King Arthur was supposed to be a guy.
You mean your question was supposed to be 'what's to love?'
I find the moon to be unnerving, for the first case. Who put those ley lines there in feudal era? And there's the Mighty Whitey backstory that western people get to be 'united' for a supermongous empire that has fields in mecha development, which is too far into Aquarion-esque shades to make sense. Speaking of Aquarion, not only do the protagonists share the same character traits from the series, the main machine ALSO happens to look (obviously) like Kawamori stamped all over it.
I just don't get how historics can mesh with mecha without involving aliens.

Same as usual.... Wing it.
First episode just aired, and subs will be out soon.
EDIT: Subs are now out.
