The Gentry are in and several entries mention Multiversity.

No map, but it's available for free online.

[up] Thanks a lot! No mention of Jay either then, huh? It seems next one will cover up a lot more, elder Wally is still in a continuty flux now. What does Barry's page say about him?

It's just a summary of his post-Flashpoint self, with a box dedicate to the pre-Flaspoint Flashes too. Jay doesn't have a solo entry, which is weird because Alan Scott does.

Despite focusing on post-Flashpoint, I have to say this one is definitely an improvement over the previous two. Both prior editions had a major issue with giving bit characters who were only notable as part of a team their own entries, despite the teams having entries themselves. Like, do we really need to learn about the likes of Steamroller of the Demolition Team or Musashi of the New Cadre (whose picture was wrong, even) that much? What was really weird was that these characters were included to the exclusion of more major ones, like John Constantine and various Legion members, who were added in the second edition, though even that had some pretty glaring omissions, most notably the Anti-Monitor.

So I've been thinking about it:

Does anyone think Original Flavour Reverse Flash (as in Eobard Thawne) would have worked better if he'd had Zoom (Hunter Zolomon / Reverse Flash II) powers?

I mean, he's the Reverse Flash right? When you think about it, simulating Super Speed via slowing down time works much better as the reverse of his arc rival then having the exact same powers.

I feel like if they'd thought about it, they'd have given him the Time slowing powers.

[up] That's certainly an inventive (and character-concept appropriate) way to go about empowering a guy who's supposed to be the reverse of the Flash. Still, you have to remember that Eobard Thawne did not call himself the Reverse-Flash; he called himself Professor Zoom, and actually hated the name "Reverse-Flash," which is what Barry and the Central City press tended to call him.

I tend to forgive it when they have villains who are the purported opposite of a hero and they have the same powers; inversions can get hackneyed and unsupportable. I know for awhile they had it that Bizarro had ice-vision and fiery breath, but you'll note they didn't carry the idea to it's logical conclusion and also make him super-weak. super-slow, or super-vulnerable.

So he got offended at being called a Reverse Flash after repeteadly wearing an exact reverse copy of Flash's costume.

Eobard was a freaking moron.

Became the Flash's mortal enemy just because he read it was going to happen remember.

Yeah. Not a smart, sane or good man that Eobard.

Eobard has Hunter's powers in New 52 so your wish is granted. It's not popular among fans though, because both characters are vastly different and both are cool in their own right. With Rebirth happening and Wally being back, Hunter is definitely around but we just don't know where he is yet. He must be immune to Manhattan though.

Eobard was supposed to be Rival's reinvented version (Jay's reverse flash) so he had similar powers to Flash.

[up]

I see.

Well I guess it can't be helped. They were both their own characters. That's why I said it would have worked better at his inception.

Or maybe if Hunter had never existed so that it didn't look like Thawne was stealing his schtick.

[up][up] I honestly don't know what they are going to do though. New 52 Eobard Thawne is far off from what Geoff Johns and Mark Waid intended; he is no longer Evil Is Petty born from Self-Fulfilling Prophecy, instead he's a failed Evil Overlord with Knight Templar. Even his reason for killing Barry's mother is something dumb like using his father's blood expert knowledge or some weird stuf like that. And on top of that he has Hunter's powers WITH Speed Force connection. Barry beat him with an incredibly dumb power up (moving time forward with every step he takes or some shit). BOTH Hunter and Eobard are ineffective against Barry's power as things stand.

Either they will just ignore that story and depower Eobard (which makes sense) so a room can be opened for Hunter or I dunno, they will reveal that Eobard is a fake like Wonder Woman's memories & Superman.

Easy, speed copy that got changed by Manhattan's coming. The real one has been stuck in a cell being experimented on by another villain before he breaks out.

It really makes sense. Rebirth Flash has shown Thawne with classic suit and haunting Barry from Speed Force, so it's given that something will change.

God, I hope Thawne kills the fake version or something.

lol That came out wrong. I love Barry but he is not as good as other speedsters and the Manhattan excuse was cheap imho.

[up] So excited! Everything I'm seeing or hearing about from this series seems like it's custom-tailored just for me. Kate's been back to form in Detective and I have high hopes for her new solo.

My stories on AO3.

Oh hey, the new DC Encyclopedia also has the answer to a question that you might recall was melting my brain a while back: are New Earth and Prime Earth different universes or not? I got my answer from the Superboy entry, which covers both Kon-El and Jon Sam Kent, the latter in one of those Rebirth teasers I mentioned earlier, which was also the source for the answer: Yes, they're different.

Well, one mystery solved, anyway.

Random thought; Anyone notice how Maxima's psychic abilities never seem to show up in adaptations?

House of Old Ideas. These crossovers sound fun but look how old these properties are.

[up][up]I'm sure they'd use the newer CN properties as well if Boom! and IDW didn't hold the licenses right now.
