My heart agrees with Sixth, there's only so much cheese one can take.

Depends on the cheese. If the cheese is something very sharp like a nice blue or a mature cheddar, then moderation is the name of the game. Too much and it's just like eating a lump of sharp cheese - not necessarily something I'd object to, but not what you want from a burger. A cheese that's smoky, nutty, or mild, however, needs a lot in order to fight its way through the bread, burger, and ketchup.

I found out that the tex-mex joint we stumbled upon recently serves awesome burgers too. Although their chicken and bacon burritos aren't too shabby either.

I had some Five Guys a few nights ago. Of all fast food chains, they've got the best burgers by far.

Yeah, they definitely have the best burgers you can easily get.

I can't make burgers at home very well at all. They just won't stay together. I take one bite and all the toppings spill out the other end. Then I'm just left with a big bland slab of totally flavorless beef.

Five Guys is great. Tried them on a whim in St. Petersburg, FL last year since they were the only thing within walking distance of my motel, and I ended up going back three times in two days. (The first visit, I walked to a CVS first since I had forgotten to pack a toothbrush, and unintentionally followed the customer in front of me a good six blocks to Five Guys. He noticed me and complimented me on my $20 Kmart shoes.)

Locally, if I'm wanting a burger, the options are limited: McDonald's, Burger King, or Big Boy. Not even a freakin' Wendy's. (Just as well, since I don't like Wendy's very much.) I'm a Big Eater so I highly prefer a big ol' Whopper to the itty bitty burgers that McDonald's has. (Quarter Pounder, my ass.) However, our local BK made me terribly sick last year, so if I wanna wake up with the King, I go to the next town over. THEIR BK always gives me hot, fresh food at lightning speed, and they seem to be the only food place on the planet that understands me when I say "no tomato".

My favorite at BK is the Angry Whopper, but I've also liked most of the "specialty" whoppers that have come and gone over the years. I really like the. When I was at the San Francisco airport, the BK there had a "Texas Whopper" that had jalapeños, spicy mustard, and I think red onion too. It was really good, but I've never seen it at any other BK. The BBQ Bacon Whopper sounds really good, too.

Rally's/Checkers is also pretty good, especially considering how cheap the food is there. And the fries are amazing.

I also highly recommend Culver's if you're near one, not just for the ButterBurgers, but also for EVERY DAMN THING ON THE MENU, ESPECIALLY THE FROZEN CUSTARD. Every Culver's I've ever been to has had amazing service and high-quality food. They're a bit more expensive than most other fast food joints, but man, is it ever worth it.

there's no such thing as too much cheese.

If and only if you get a very good tasting tasty cheese. Then this is truth. Otherwise...

Where I'm from now, there isn't that much good burger options to choose from. I suppose Wendy's is the best choice here, but there's nothing else but Mcdonald's, Jack-in-the-boxes, and Burger King's. No In-N-Out (my favorite in California), Carl's Jr., Five Guys, Dairy Queen, White Castle, Red Robin (my favorite in Washington state), or anything else. Hell, they just closed down the only A&W left here a month ago. So I'm left with nothing but the above options when it comes to fast food burger places. I don't even like Mcdonald's...

In terms of food in general here, it's normally slop unless it's at a resort or something, and even then, it's still quite expensive to purchase. So basically, there's not too much good dining options for me to choose from. One of the many reasons for me to fly out of this dump this summer.

I want two burgers now!

Last one I had was probably a week ago. Quarter Pounder.

Those things are horribad for you, but damnit, they're tasty.

My significant other makes pretty kickass home made burgers too. It's pretty much the only time we buy cheddar cheese as well.

Tried Burger King for the first time with my friend recently. There are a few Burger Kings in Finland. As far as I know, they're all in Helsinki.

The burgers are bigger than, for example, those of McDonalds or Hesburger. A tad saltier, too.

Going to go another time.

I so want to try Burger King sometime.

I myself live in Vantaa, so it's easy for me to go to Helsinki and grab some.

I'm not a fan of Burger King. Their burgers taste like they've been stuck in a microwave warmer.

But as far as fast food joints go, Wendy's has got some of the best.

Listen, there's pretty much only Mc Donalds and Hesburger here in Finland.

I'd love to go to Five Guys or Wendy's but that's not happening.

[up][up]I never got that feeling from Burger King. At least not the one in the next town over since they're always amazing.

Last time I went into our BK, I got extremely sick, and the manager was a total jerk who refused to give me a refund since I used a coupon (true) and "complained" when I only got the regular chicken sandwich instead of chipotle (not true; I asked "isn't this supposed to be chipotle?" and when told it was plain I said, "Okay, that's fine, I'll take it"). I ended up sending a letter to corporate, who called me and both of the store's managers. The other manager was much nicer about the deal, told me she'd talk to the jerk manager, and sent me a $10 gift card.

[up]Nearest one to me is three hours away in Grand Blanc. Surprised they haven't gotten to Saginaw yet, since seemingly every restaurant on the planet has been building new locations in Saginaw in the past five years.

Went to Burger King again twice the same day. Whopper, Double Whopper and Crispy Chicken are all tasty. Going to try more the next time I visit Helsinki.

Burger King, you understand me. When it's past midnight and I'm a bit peckish, I don't want to spend 60 NOK on expensive night menus at McDonalds. No, I want small little hamburgers that give me that nice little "hot food" experience for about 20 NOK. Oh, you sell them for 15 NOK you say? Say no more. We understand each other.

And the only place that's open is a Mc Donalds.

I've had three burgers over the week:

  • Burger King: I don't know what they were going for with the Chicken Big King, because the regular is both much better and fine as is. It has a nice charbroiled taste to it, and it's a bit generous on the lettuce side.
  • Tonight, me dad's girlfriend made some burgers, cooked in a pan. They were delicious! Crunchy outside, tender burger-y inside.
  • Last, a ridiculous tale from the depths of Steak n' Shake. I ordered a garlic double Steakburger like usual... and as it turns out, they were out of American cheese. Pretzel buns I can understand, everyone runs out of bananas from time to time... but when nearly every burger at your burger restaurant uses American cheese, that just isn't something you run out of. I had to opt for Swiss instead, as it didn't occur to me that I could've used mozzarella instead.

[up][up]I know the feeling. I happened to be at my sister's house in Flint at 1 AM. She and her (now ex-)housemate wanted to go to Buffalo Wild Wings, but they had closed at midnight. The only other options were Taco Bell, which she had already eaten at least three times that week, or the drive-thru at McDonald's, so we chose the latter. Hard to believe that a town as big as Flint doesn't have a single 24-hour diner. Not even a Denny's or an IHOP.

[up]The last time I was at a Steak & Shake, I got sick. The place was torn down less than four months later. To this day, I wonder if these two events are related...
