Eddie's New RP Thread Policy

I really don't think making a new site is a plausible idea. If you want something reliable, I'd suggest using an existing site that already has hundreds of people on it, and not using one that some troper has. You're not going to find stability, or be able to sustain, some free/cheap forum you make yourself. Better to use a site that doesn't care if fifty more people are posting on it.

That said, I like this site, so ideally I'd like to see this subforum stick around.

Report it to Daltar. He can very quickly remove them instead of the normal reporting.

I mean, when he sees it. We don't report to regular Moderators, just him, remember.

Removing young characters is missing the point. We have gone untouched for ages with children in the RP, and there is no need to panic.

I'm gonna have to agree that banning characters under 16 is a stupid idea.

Well, nothings happened yet, so there's hope.

There's nothing wrong with playing young charas, as long as they aren't portrayed in a sexual way.

i think that it be nice to hear form a mod. get there stand and work something out. cause it seem like both sides dont really talk.

I find this announcement oddly comforting. That if one day, I wake up and find the RP Forum just gone for no reason, I will know why.

I think by now, daltar and a couple of mods have gotten reports about what's going on.

Unfortunately, I also believe it's only a matter of time, no matter what way you look at it.

Daltar is not online all the time. She can't catch everything in time. Especially if Eddie is outright looking for things.

I feel that this is simply a way to encourage us to help mods nuke the creeps who show up. A bit of danger to motivate us.

It's going to have the opposite effect. As mentioned before, things that would have been reported will now be covered up as quickly as possible.

I think that Fast Eddie's wording leaves for some openness of interpretation.

He specifically said, "If there is an RPG thread that can be interpreted as pedo-friendly in any way". I would construe that as "if someone does something out of bound and isn't called out on it", rather than construing it as "one wrong move and you get the chair".

I don't really understand what exactly prompted all this, but there's been no problems like this before. The whole 'appointing an RP-mod' thing would've been a huge waste of time if the entire section would be nuked because of a single troll or whatever.

I sincerely hope Daltar is right. Eddie has a tendency to overreact, but this just seems to be going too far even for him.

Eddie probably means stuff that "can be interpreted". We've established that Eddie doesn't like this place. And that this site has had trouble in the past. Eddie is running out of reasons to keep this place around...and to be honest there is some content here that isn't pedo, but "can be interpreted".

This is the situation.

Today Eddie got word about an RP whose premise was a lecherous 10 year old female character around a bunch of other female characters. This RP was at the moment closed after being reported, but not nuked. Seeing this breach of the forum rules and having strong feelings about the serious matter that it is, Eddie banned the involved party and posted the notice you all saw to try and prevent this from happening again.

The RP Forums are not going away, as that RP was not a representation of our RP community. The site policy and standards remain and there is no need for panic. Just, from now we should be more active in reporting such activity to be immediately dealt with.

Still, the policy remains the same and you ought not overreact. This came out of the extreme case of a 10 year old in lecherous situations.

Sexual content is, as always, forbidden within the RP area and the site in general though it can be alluded or mentioned with adult characters. Teenage romance remains alright. Innocent love of hand holding and the like is alright for children. Use your own judgement as I think most here can identify outright pedophilic content which is the one causing the current situation. If you are unsure about a given situation, I'm always available to try and give judgement.

Knowing the RP Forums as I do, I'm certain that most, if not practically all of you, need not worry about what happened today. Your Role Playing Games will continue as they have without a change for they were never a problem.

So it's not unfounded at all.

I think this is really easy to avoid, of course. Better rules, better reports, maybe a second RP Mod to make the process faster.
