Bachelor party Raymond was amazing. I was about as excited as Jake about getting to see this version of Holt.
Also, I totally feel Amy when playing Never Have I Ever. I've never done anything so it's never a fun time for me.
Trust you? The only person I can trust is myself.Damn it, I was hoping it'd get a farewell season, at least.
Hopefully this season won't end on a Cliffhanger like the previous ones.

Lin Manuel Miranda just tweeted in support of Brooklyn Nine-Nine; Renew B 99 has trended a couple times today. Please, if you have a Twitter, use the hashtags Renew B 99 and Brooklyn Nine Nine. Tweet at Fox, and also tweet at Hulu, which has a relationship with NBC which owns the show. It’s worth a shot.

I am just so sad.
In the words of Holt, "Everything is garbage."
I'll definitely be participating in the Twitter campaigns... hopefully something will come of it.
Trust you? The only person I can trust is myself.I had the thought that if (barring someone saving the series itself) a B99 movie would be fun too
I mean, I imagine it to be to Die Hard what Galaxy Quest is to Star Trek :D
"You can reply to this Message!"NBC, TBS, Hulu and Netflix have expressed interest in picking up B99. Maybe this isn't the end after all.
Sad to hear, but it seems like the show was always on the verge of cancellation. It probably only lasted as long as it has because of the star power (not just the actors, but the veteran producers) blended with consistent critical acclaim. It would be nice to see another network pick it up, but the major hurdle with a show that has lasted as long as it has is that cast and crew salary are not as cheap as a show just starting out.
I only recently started watching the show after getting a Hulu account, I really do enjoy it and find the writing and performances in general to be excellent. Samberg, Baugher and Crews do most of the heavy lifting, Sambergs' So Unfunny, It's Funny style of humor has a Broken Base, and they toned it down significantly for the series.
I can't really say that I love the show, at least not as much as Parks and Recreation, and it's hard for me to figure out why. I think part of it is that the show hovers in an uncomfortable area with the day-to-day life of a police detective, which makes finding the right tone (and keeping it) that much more difficult. Brooklyn Nine Nine exists in a world much more grounded than Parks and Recreation, so when it becomes more of a cartoon (like using tear gas in the building to slow down the Vulture) it doesn't mesh well with stories surrounding murder cases.
The one character I have a hard time figuring out is Amy, partially because she falls into a "too pretty to look tough" situation with a lot of actresses. I like the actress well enough, but it's only been the last few episodes with her promoted to Sargent that that her character has really worked, having her fighting for respect while shopping for wedding dresses. It builds on her "profile" moment in the pilot episode of trying to prove herself tough, but hasn't really been a part of her character since as she's been too hung up on her rivalry with Jake and obsession to make Holt her mentor.
I mean, Amy is tough, but she's not significantly more tough than most of the cast, Samberg included, and if you can buy him as tough I don't see the issue.
It's not really a huge part of her character brief anyway, and I'm not sure why you're hung up on it, especially as you point out that the show dropped it after season one. Amy is an awkward, neurotic nerd first and foremost, and I'd say Fumero plays that role very well and the writers have wrung a lot out of it.
Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies.I’d say they sort of stepped sideways on the tough angle and turned it into her competitive streak. Her competitive streak is hilarious. Just remembering the polar bear swim, the bomb defusing class...

I mean, that's the case with every other show. We're at that point in time where actors, writers, technicians, and other people who’ve stayed with the show for its full run begin to earn pay bumps, usually seeing solid raises. (This is why you often hear about studios agreeing to new “two- or three-year deals” with certain cast members post-season four, and that’s often to lock those cast members in at a rate the studio can live with for future seasons.)
The cold never bothered me anywayWell most of the time when a show does a Channel Hop it is after the first one or two seasons, as another network thinks it has potential and wants to help build it up. But ever since Firefly it seems like networks are paying more attention to those shows with middling ratings but high critical praise and passionate fanbase.
As for Amy vs. Jake, Jake isn't looking for validation as his entire shtick. He's not trying to prove that he is tough or a good detective, and in general doesn't define himself by how others see him. In contrast Amy is so reactionary, obsessed by how she wants people to see her, that she doesn't get a lot of self-defining moments. Even things like her binder obsession or "five drink Amy" is more about others commenting on it instead of her owning it. That's why I liked the wedding dress episode, even though Rosa is guiding her to that conclusion she gets that moment to be assertive.
YEEEEEEEE-HAAAW (okay, full disclosure, I should wait to be hype until we get a more official announcement on this, but it's Rosa's actress saying that Brooklyn 99 has been renewed for Season 6 on NBC!)

"Strategy? Spacing? I just keep punching until I hit something." - Sol BadguyAnd there's that "official" news I was waiting for. Hell yeah.
they're gonna find intelligent life up there on the moon/and the canterbury tales will shoot up to the top of the best-seller listHOT DAMN!
VINDICAAAAAAATION!
Trust you? The only person I can trust is myself. That was quick. But it does make sense with the official announcement saying that the CEO always regretted selling the show to Fox. It's owned and produced by Universal Television, a subsidiary of NBC, and so this seems more similar to a Scrubs move, bringing the show back to the people who OWN it.
Plus the twitter response from fans was insane. Two spellings of Brooklyn 99 were in the top 5 tags trending nationally for several hours, and I think it trended number 1 world wide.
Now someone only needs to save The Expanse and I'm happy
"You can reply to this Message!"White Whale was a great episode. I love Amy and Rosa’s dynamic- Amy being so hyped about the elderly was hilarious and in character. Also, Rosa went to med school?! And business school? And has a pilot’s license? I need fanfic explaining all of this ASAP. Also, their friendship makes me happy.
I also loved Jake’s wedding B plot. Of course he volunteered to do everything so Amy could help Rosa, and of course he freaked out about messing up. Now that I think of it, anxiety is a pretty consistent character trait for Jake. Moreso than any other character, actually. And no one makes fun of him; Terry reassured him that trying so hard to get everything right is what matters.
I also loved that Crawford had Holt’s back. I was worried they would have her win, and either have it as a positive (yay, feminism, the black gay man stepped aside for the white lady, NO) or as a negative (Holt stands up for her but then she wins by playing to the committee’s bigotry). The way they ran with it instead was great.
Huh I thought Jake's Wedding was the A plot, well either way...
What I also appreciated about his storyline was that they didn't go the cheap route of 'lol men can't plan for their weddings' and actually showed him to be dedicated and smart about it (with Groom Gut/Terry help ofc). And the payoff with Terry's van windows getting broken was surprisingly hilarious.
I loved the new episode, bachelor party Raymond was hilarious. And God bless Amy, what a nerd.
