That's a clickthrough page, for me. Going through it ... I can't see how the combo relates to the trope.

"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanIt's a long way to go, I'll admit.
Good example, but I think trying to work those into a pic would be problematic.
Panels 1, 2, and 3 (or either of 1 or 2 alone. 3 alone doesn't work since the story is cut off) are a better illustration of the trope. The panels suggested in the OP are the joke, but they don't have much to do with the trope.

...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.Or maybe this Penny Arcade strip (also listed in the examples)? (Actually, the Oglaf one is too.)

The panels have too much text, which I don't think will be very legible when shrunk down to Wiki size.
The Penny Arcade just panels 1 & 2 would work.
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.Here's a couple of takes on that.
And here's a take on the Oglaf strip...I think I prefer it to the PA ones. I tried a couple of different arrangements but the layout was too awkward.

I'll take the Oglaf one simply because I can't get my head around that being his kid.
I like the arrangement in 10. I also prefer it over PA, since I think the forest setting helps with the imagery of the trope. It's also more direct to the point, and the text is much easier to read.
Check out my fanfiction!Good points.
I prefer the Oglaf as well. For most of the same reasons, plus, the text is larger and easier to read. And it implies that there are lots of Just So Stories.
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.to 10. The caption can be the rest of the comic - "Some guy stabbed me in the stomach!" "We've been through this - that's your belly button."

Heh...that works for me.
lol
Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan.@10 seems fine for me.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI like 10 best as well, making 8 (I think) votes; up, potholed, tagged, and given the suggested caption.
That was the amazing part. Things just keep going.Cool; locking up.
Perhaps the first, fourth, seventh, and eighth panels from this?
