I actually don't have much of a problem with the current as a concept, although if we can get cleaner screencaps that would help a lot.
I prefer the current, if only because the suggestion looks fairly foggy.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanPerhaps its caption should say something about avoiding Medusa's gaze by avoiding eye contact with her?
Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan. That would help...the current is clever but a little obtuse for anyone not familiar with that legend.
"Petrification doesn't work in mirrors"?
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanThere aren't any decent images from the actual legend, or at least a clearer shot? Medusa don't look very clear in the current pic (I can't tell that it's really her, and not some random sorceress trying to sneak up on the guy). And maybe it's just me, but the modern setting diminishes the "magic" part of the illustration.
Perseus did use a shield like a mirror when hunting Medusa, I remember.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanThe first and fourth of those are best; the others aren't clear enough on the "using the shield as a reflective surface" part.

No.3 is forbidden, so I cannot comment about it. Otherwise, I agree with that no.1 & 4 are the most illustrative.

You have to copy #3 to the address bar in order for it to show.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard Feynman1 and 4 (cropped) at wiki size.
Trouble with these is establishing it's a reflective surface and not just a decorative element on the shield, none of those get that aspect across for me.

...the back of Medusa's head being in Perseus' shield while she's facing away from him in the latter, the perspective flip in the former, and the generally polished look of both shields isn't enough of a hint?
Most of the Perseus pics look like a generic shield-wearing warrior to me.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanRe-evaluating the images, I think I'd prefer 13.1 since the image actually depicts the "magic" aspect (e.g. Medusa's glowing eyes, the petrified people, etc).
Isn't it kind of clear that Perseus is avoiding direct gaze with Medusa? And the one in 13.1 shows him staring at that reflection on his shiled

I've had so many issues with anonym.to I'd rather see it discouraged.
Clock is set.
Anyone else for 13.1? Or need we a crowner?
Still not feeling it, crowner away.
I think the art is better in 13.2, can tell the shield has a reflection on it, and the effect of medusa's gaze is very well-known.

Crown Description:
Nominations for replacement images:
The page image is of a guy holding an mp3 player with a woman reflected on it. There's not much "eye contact" involved, and even less magic. It also needs you to be familiar with Medusa to even remotely guess what the picture is about, and even then, it's not really clear that the woman reflected in that mp3 is Medusa in the first place.
For replacement image, I'd suggest the Penance Gaze◊ from Ghost Rider, but any better suggestions would be welcome.
