Beyond the Impossible: Interest Check!

RP

For as long as anyone has ever known, humanity has lived in scattered villages across the world. Isolated from making connections to one another, these villages have worked hard to survive in a dangerous world. Some villages are nearer to others, and yet even the humans in these places are unable to forge a bond. As soon as they begin to build a road between these villages, they are attacked.

Called demons by humanity, roving bands of human-like barbarians, often sporting horns and other demonic features, attack any humans building any form of connection between villages. They destroy roads and kill workers to prevent them from doing any further work. No human knows why demons do such things. In addition, the demons wield strange weapons, some technological, some seemingly magical...

One village, however, is determined to form a connection. The village of Suna, lying in a desolate desert, seeks to connect with another village over a nearby, vast hill. They'll have to drill right through it to create a road.

Little do they know what is contained within...

So... the summary of the plot to start with might not convey exactly what I want to do with this RP. One of the things I've noticed is that I've never, ever seen any RP that went for Beyond the Impossible.

Basically, I've never seen an RP that tried the match Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. ^^;

So, that's what I want to do here. From beginning in a dusty village to ending up with something that matches using galaxies as shuriken, I want to make an RP that really does match the over-the-top nature of Gurren Lagann.

Now, some things will obviously be different beyond the initial setup. As opposed to mecha, there would be artifacts. These artifacts are seemingly magical or sci-fi technologies that respond to use by humans(and demons). They would start fairly simple... but escalate massively from there.

So, um... any interest?

Well, drilling into the mountainside will... probably last less then a page, honestly.

There won't be, because that would probably be a bit too much like Gurren Lagann. Instead there's other artifacts, as mentioned in the OP.

So it's basically Gurren Lagann as a shonen anime, right? Well, I mean what people usually think of as shonen since it was in the shonen demographic but yeah.

Okay what are the starting power levels we're talking about here? I mean going off the Gurren Lagaan comparison we've been working with so far, Lagaan was pretty damn powerful all on his own so....yea.

At the same time, um, the level of power should general be how Gurren Lagann started out I guess is the best way to put it.

• Name: Kenta Tanryoku
• Age: 18
• Gender: Male
• Appearance: Kenta has messy, spiky black hair and steely gray eyes. He wears a tattered red long-coat along with a pair of pants.
• Personality: Kenta does not give up. Even in the face of imminent death, he will refuse to surrender. If his friends are in danger, he'll find a way to keep them from harm. Kenta seems brash and impatient, but he has a big heart. He believes that one day humanity will be free from the demon's oppression and seeks to somehow have a part in making that belief a reality.
• Brief Backstory: Kenta's familiar with the atrocities that the demons commit. His father was killed during a previous road-building attempt, leaving Kenta and Kenta's mother behind. Kenta vowed to avenge his father and ensure nobody else would ever have to lose their loved ones to the demons.
• Artifact: Sekai Bunkatsuha
  • Artifact Appearance: A katana with a stylized skull ornament on its pommel and a star-shaped handguard. Engraved onto the blade are the characters '世界の分割刃' .
  • Artifact Powers: Can cut through rocks and split trees in half with one slash.

• Name: Helix Uzumaki/Uzumaki Helix
• Age: 18
• Gender: Female
• Appearance: I wonder who that could be?
• Personality: LARGE HAM! Helix is, in essence, completely bereft of restraint. If something is worth doing, it's worth doing at 200%, even if this means that she regularly needs to try and do everything twice because of screwing up the first time.
• Brief Backstory: Do I need this? :(
• Skills: Basically? None. At all. She's pretty terrible at just about everything, including general knowledge.
• Artifact:
  • Artifact Appearance: N/A. Her artefact is somehow inside of her, which makes its actual structure something of a mystery.
  • Artifact Powers: The ability to power herself up through hot bloodedness and the colour green. Yup. Can all see what this is inspired by, right?

What are these atrocities you're talking about?

Accepted, backstory is just if you have anything of note to place there.

• Name: Kodachi Nagamaki
• Age: 16
• Gender: Female
• Appearance: Original drawing! Colors!
• Personality: Kodachi is a friendly girl. She does genuinely like company and she enjoys being around others, but she's also somewhat nervous and lacking confidence in herself. She does try to be more confident, but it's difficult for her to do it. Even still, if her friends are threatened she will do her best to try and keep them safe, even if she'll want to retreat as soon as possible. Still, Kodachi is capable of bravery, and she doesn't want her friends to get hurt. She's nervous about the roadbuilding, but wants to help out, as well.
• Brief Backstory: Kodachi has lived in Suna for as long as she can remember, orphaned from a very young age and brought up collectively by the village. She has been repeatedly assigned to help out around the village, including the recent road-building project.
• Skills: Kodachi has few notable skills, aside from some very basic skill with weapons born from swinging a wooden sword around a lot and getting a couple pointers from one of the older villagers.
• Artifact: Currently... completely nameless. It will however get a name.
  • Artifact Appearance: The katana featured in her picture! Fairly basic. In a "dormant" state, the blade shrinks to the size of a key.
  • Artifact Powers: As of now, the katana an grow to a full-sized blade... and then become larger then Kodachi herself. It can also seemingly burst into flames, causing its cutting power to increase dramatically so that stone is not an issue.

I've never really watched Gurren Lagen, so I was wondering how...serious we need to be about this RP. Since the whole concept of this RP is taking things to ridiculous heights, does that mean we can do it ridiculously?

Hmm... Gurren Lagann(and by extension this RP) had plenty of silly moments, but it also took itself seriously a lot.

The famous "mecha bigger then the universe" bits and such are actually played very seriously and in the most ridiculously awesome ways possible. At the same time, though, there's plenty of humor throughout.
