The first one would be good if it were cropped to focus on the men. Keep in mind the 350 px wide limit. Quality is a bit of an issue, but I'm willin to give it a pass pending something better.
Image Source. Please update whenever an image is changed.Barring anything else... sure. But... it's a bit tough to tell from the image alone.
Maybe something like a woman being a space secretary or something?

Here's 1.1 cropped to 350...maybe pairing this up with a pic from a modern sci-fi show that has a multi-racial/species cast along with their respective dates would do the trick.

I'm afraid that 1.2 won't look good at wiki size and cropping it anywhere is going to make it awkward content-wise.
I think it's pretty noticeable (in 1.1/4) that they're all white men, without a comparison frame.note In fact, that being true makes it a pretty glaring example of Society Marches On IMO.

Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan.Cropping 1.2 turned out ok, I also like that the backgrounds and uniforms are kind-of opposites of each-other.
I don't like the idea of doubling the height (half as concise) of the image to accomplish something that would be accomplished better by a caption. (The additional image says "includes non-humans" more than "includes non-white-males", whereas a caption could say exactly the right thing.)
And 1.1 > 1.2 IMO, anyway.

Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan. From that suggestion I'd gather that the trope is about collecting people from different cultures/species as society advances.
Check out my fanfiction!I agree with @9.

Star Wars may◊ very well◊ qualify◊, but I'm not sure if that's the In-Universe Empire being evil or casting being Two Decades Behind equal opportunity employment.
It's not as obvious, probably because of the military uniforms. Still prefer 1.1 by a wide margin.
Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan. Not enough consensus on anything; locking up. No action is to be taken based on this thread.
In the future, only white◊ men◊ are daring enough to explore the furthest reach of space, perhaps because everyone else is too Genre Savvy.
