Really? I am more reminded of the typical 1990s cheesy action flick....in a good way. But then, I have a thing for those.....
Yeah. That was something I had meant to mention. I don't know if I've really seen too many corny action flicks, especially corny martial arts action flicks, but through pop culture osmosis, I get the gist of it enough to recognize the trailer as a Cliché Storm.
I guess I come away knowing that at least some of it is "intentionally" funny, but I'm not sure how much.
Edit- (pun intended).

I feel like a lot of it. Hell, Martial Arts Expert with massive culture shock was used as far back as Way of the Dragon where Bruce Lee is portrayed as bumbling and out of his depth.
It also works because Danny's origin is far more, I dunno, detached than everyone else who has heavy issues (rape, police brutality, the limits of law, etc).
It looks fun. Actually, it looks like a much lighter take than, say, Daredevil, which might be nice.
I hope so....three brooding heroes are really enough, they need someone more optimistic in the Defenders.
Costuming, set design and lighting looks awesome.
I liked the mid-to-late '90s kung fu boom too— saying they were going for every cliche wasn't necessarily a pure criticism. I just think they could afford to wink at the concept a little more.
I am the exactly correct age to enjoy 90 throwbacks.
Danny saying that Rand Industries is his home is an interpretation I disagree with, but I imagine his character growth will subvert that.
Finn Jones' hair is mesmerizing.
I wonder if this is a deliberate parallel/foil to Tony Stark. I hope at least some reporters point this out.
"You can reply to this Message!"Claire was hilarious. "I am the Iron Fist." "...What the hell does that mean?"
Trust you? The only person I can trust is myself.I do wonder if it will come up that in an Avengers world, he sounds like he's ripping off Tony

Forever liveblogging the AvengersStill wished that they would have shaved his beard...would make him look younger and more innocent.
I actually like it.
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?I like it. Makes it look like he's just come from a mountain side, and distinguishs him a bit from the New Yorkers and cooperates he's sharing the screen with.
Yes, but thanks to dawnson's casting it makes him look like he is in his late 20s.....and I think I would like it better if he were looking younger and more inexperienced.
Is the character not in his late twenties?
He's inexperienced because he's not been in this country for nearly two decades, that should come across regardless of his age.
Well, I kind of assumed that they send him back as soon as the portal was open again, and that would made him 20 if he was 10 when he was lost....
I really liked everything I saw in the trailer, but that music was the best.

Crow: There's a plot?I'm down for it. Jessica Jones is still the only one I got into enough to finish but this looks just lighthearted enough to be up my alley.
I'm still irked by the casting, but I'll give this a try. And probably watch all the way through simply for completionism.
I hope there's at least one joke about how Iron Fist doesn't know who Iron Man is, or why the world is suddenly full of superheroes. Not quite sure how isolated K'un-L'un is going to be in the MCU, though.

I hope it won't actually just be 'hidden' in the Himalayas.
Crow: There's a plot? The episode titles alone are amazing. "Rolling Thunder Cannon Punch"?
Any show with an ep title like that is worth watching.
And from what i could find, Danny's supposed to be 25, not 20. I wonder how much of a role Zhou will play-I hope they'll set him up as a rival/foe to Danny in his role at Rand Industries.
From what I remember, Kun Lun (sp?) resides in another dimension that occasionally passes to our own. Which would explain why it took so long for him to return. He had to wait for the alignment.
It sort of feels like every early 2000s superhero/action movie cliche compressed into one movie. Which could still be fun, but there's a self-awareness that the other Defenders shows had that I'm not really getting here.
