I''m wondering if anyone would be interested in doing another RP in the old Game of Gods style; just a big old crossover in a mysterious world. Is anyone else feeling nostalgic for that? Preferably, it would be a game where non-heroes are welcome.

Would anyone be interested in an old-school Dungeons & Dragons RP?

After recently reading PDF's of the original D&D rules from the 70's, I am very tempted to run a D&D RP.

Would anyone be interested in running a Magical Girl criss crossover kind of thing? I would figure the Big Bad (or simply one of the main villains) would be a Puella with creation powers, using it to starve off her witchification as she becomes increasingly more demented (lashing out at other magical girls in the process).

I am trying to start up a Pokemon Mystery Dungeon RP. Would anyone like me to link the signup page?

Goddamnit, Brain passed out. I have a thread up if anyone would like to see?

What you wrote was crystal clear, I think Adannor probably just misunderstood. Just link your signup to put an end to the mix-up. I don't think I'll join (I haven't really enjoyed the PMD roleplays I have been in) but I know there's plenty of people who would probably consider it.

There it is.

So let's hope it gets some activity.

What would I think would be kinda cool is an RP based on FTL, with races from said game, a ship, and the same objective of getting the info to the Federation fleet and defeating the Flagship, or maybe just wandering from sector sector and seeing what happens. Whether or not Crystal characters would be allowed is a good question, but hopefully an easily resolved one.

That would be fun. I grow intensely attached to my FTL crew and always imagine personalities for them.

So a FTL RP would be fun.

I'd certainly try playing in an FTL RP if someone makes one, but FTL seems like it would be a difficult game to translate into an RP. Would each player get their own ship, or would each just be a crew member aboard one ship? If the latter, what ship? One from the game, or one made up? Everyone having their own ship would probably be a nightmare for the GM to manage, so I would assume we'd all be aboard the same ship.

Then there's a question of how directly the game mechanics should be represented, if at all. In FTL, only six stations can be manned, which in any combat that doesn't involve boarding, leaves players beyond that six with nothing to do except repair damaged systems; and even of those six stations, I can only imagine two of them, maybe three being at all interesting to RP. (Piloting, weapons, and maybe sensors.)

I'd personally recommend to whoever tries GMing to drastically change the game mechanics to make it more interesting as an RP. For one, find some way to make every station mannable, and have manning stations give something more significant than just a little statistical bonus. Make manning shields give that player a chance to reflect enemy fire back at the other ship instead of just having shields recharge faster; make manning drones, a normally un-mannable station, give that player direct control over the otherwise automated drones. That kind of stuff.

Manning stations sounds like a poor thing to focus on even if it's a game mechanic.

"ok I put more power to shields"

"ok shields down fixing them"

"ok mantis just warped in rip me"

Like, realistically, there isn't much you can do with them unless you're defending. Not to mention that they're separate so it limits interaction beyond "DEY CANNAE TAKE MORE CAPN" over the intercom.

Don't see why. Players can all be captains of their own ships, forming a small fleet. Add some base on which for them to hang out together in person and to be a clump of plot hooks and you're set.

[up] Yeah. My RP had a couple of people be captains of their own ships. The only problem is having the skill to keep up with everyone and provide plot hooks for them.

I suppose if the GM thinks they can handle that, more power to them.

Though that doesn't entirely solve the issue of player interaction that Hazzy Haz brought up. If anything it makes it worse.

You got a shared base of operations to interact on, plus comms, plus visiting each others' ships, plus pulling different formations and whatever other multi-ship tricks you come up with during combat.

That's plenty.

So for whatever reason part of me wants to see something in the vein of Medal of Honor Warfighter. I'm not entirely sure why.

[up]I might be able to help you with that. I have also been craving a modern military RP. Not sure if I want to go realistic or include zombies and survival horror.

I think an RPG based on Fallen London would be pretty cool. It'd probably be Cthulu-style horror with some spy stuff as well, especially if your character uses Shadowy or Watchful a lot.

I could really get behind a Psycho Pass RP. A small group, four enforcers, two inspectors, some sort of crime thriller plot. I could see that working well.
